I'm sorry? What was that? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to get that out my system Well, I'd thought we'd easily beat the Avs in this series, but I never expected a beatdown like that. Not that I'm complaining
-
Don't change a damn thing. We're winning, and winning well. Helm deserves to keep his place in the line-up. What kind of message does Babcock send if he sits a kid who is playing well for a washed-up veteran whose best play was 5 seasons ago?
-
Well, I would like to sympathise with the Avs injury woes, but that would be a lie Having said that, Joe Sakic is a classy player who still looks to have something in the tank, so I hope he doesn't retire.
-
Another thing to consider is that we all know he lost one tooth, but he also had another one broken in half. After the game he said he had no pain, but who knows now? If he's got an exposed nerve or somesuch I wouldn't fancy being facewashed by the likes of Foote.
-
Yeah, just seen it. Couldn't see it for looking....

Good for Babs but he is unlikely to win it. Just like the Masterton has become the "who-has-suffered-a-terrible-injury-and-come-back-to-hockey" award, so the Adams has become the "who-has-got-an-average-team-to-perform-above-average-for-one-season-usually-because-of-a-hot-goalie" award. pwning the rest of the league is rarely a consideration - in the past 20 years only 2 Presidents Trophy winners have won the Jack Adams (Bowman, and incredibly, Quenville).

Don't think it was a dive at all. The guy got whacked in the mouth with a hockey stick FFS. As for over-reaction - ever hurt yourself and cried out in surprise/pain, then realised a couple of seconds later that it didn't actually hurt that much? Or is that just me? Anyway, it was a clear, blatant, probably deliberate high-stick to the mouth which cost Sammy a couple of teeth - I wonder if Cleary went up to Floppa later and said "Good job" Forsberg *should* be suspended 1 game for that, but I doubt highly whether he will, and the Wings are too classy to ***** and whine to the NHL about it.

Fantastic. Just what excuses will the media come up with for Colorado now that we've beaten them with Forsberg and a Theodore sans "flu"?
-
From the match report on ESPN I haven't seen the play, although someone in the GDT did say Sammy embellished it. Ah well Peter, hope your ankle/groin doesn't inhibit your golfing next week
-
I think so - you can't regain 15lbs of muscle in 6 weeks. And like T.Low said, with his jaw, I just don't think he's able to play his usual reckless style of play.
-
Hmmm, 3am start for me, although more like 0330 by the time the presenters get round to finishing off Forsberg........if I get woken up early by the baby (before 5 AM) I *may* get up to watch it

I don't know if you're thinking of this game, but Brett Hull scored a hattie for the Blues in the mid-90s on a cap giveaway night (white caps as well). When these thousands and thousands of hats came cascading down in was like a blizzard! Incredible sight. I remember they ended up taking the goals off their pegs and skating them round the ice to try and collect all these hats!

I said before the series, Colorado are a poor-mans Detroit, ie they are a skill-based team as opposed to the likes of SJ, Anaheim, Calgary who are more physical and defensive. There is no other team in the league with as much skill on all 4 lines and all 3 D-pairings and as such I predicted wings in 5, and I stand by that (although a you-know-what would be nice)
-
Total utter and complete domination. Only time I heard Sakic's name was when they were on the PP, and even then he got schooled by Hank. ALL the questions that the wings haters in the media and the chicken-lickens on LGW use against Detroit have been answered this game. There's your secondary scoring, and your 60 minutes, and.... The only bad thing to come out of this game is by beating them sooooo comprehensively on the scoreboard and on the ice, is when that happens, teams usually come out the next game and give a much, MUCH better effort. Although we are a vastly superior team to Colorado, game 3 will not be easy.

OK, Igive up. Only 1 place to see it online and it sucks WXYT it is then
-
only internet feed I can get that works/is actually showing the game is this one http://www.justin.tv/triuslater but the feed is very choppy
-
TBH if he gets 3 goals the rest of the playoffs I'd be over the moon!
-
Except that would mean paying him more than Lidstrom. Its the Gretzky-in-Edmonton effect.
-
Congrats to them both, thoroughly deserved. My great fear is that they will split the vote and neither will end up winning it For me, Datsyuk deserves it this year. Last year Zetterberg was definately the better defensive player, but this year Pav has taken it to a whole new level. To his already hard-working back check, and cunning puck-stripping, he has improved his physical play and become stronger along the boards. And right now he is the Wings playoff MVP as well - go Datsyuk!
-
Yeah, Sakic is definately the Yzerman of Colorado, in more than one way. Says everything about the guy that we, the fans of their bitterest rivals, will go out of our way to praise him.
-
Huh? Datsyuk? Great work Aflac b) Is it certain that Lilja is the one to sit for Stuart? Anyway, Wings 4-1 in this one. I'll be back tonight at game time
-
He wants to try - but no-one will have him. More specifically, no doctor will clear him to play, and no-one will give him health insurance. And that's not for the lack of trying on Jiri's part.
-
I know he's on fire right now, but this is going on too long for it to be just a hot streak IMO. Seems like he's really putting it all together - going to the net, playing with confidence, using his size, using his great hands. I don't want to descend into hyperbole, but a full season at this level would make him one of the best power forwards in the game. Its not inconceivable that next year he will score 30-40 goals, and if he does he's going to want a lot more than the $2-2.5M that LGWers assign him when we do our fantasy salary cap charts. Don't forget those 2 magic words for Franzen next season - "Contract year"! EDIT: can someone correct the thread title please?
