I had it new year and spent all day lying in bed with a temperature but felt freezing cold, covered in sweat but couldn't stop shivering. You've also got to remember that Dom is like a thorougbred - if he's not 100% mentally and physically he is usually terrible. Finally "the flu" is usually hockey team speak for someone having the pukes and the sh*ts - but who knows in this case. We had a stomach bug go round work last summer, virtually everyone was off for 2 or 3 days, one poor bloke was off for over a month and lost a ton of weight. So who knows?

All true. We have also scored the 2nd most goals, allowed the fewest shots and the fewest goals. But you know what? It all counts for naught in 2 weeks. I am a pessimist and I hate the playoffs.

That was my first season watching the NHL and it was incredible. Every morning I'd turn on ESPN to watch the highlights and there would be Mario making another goalie look stupid. To miss 1/3 of a season and still easily win the scoring title is some feat.

Its like the playoffs have started already! Meh, if it *was* the playoffs I would be depressed. But its not. So I'll have forgotten about it by the time I go to bed.

Uh, that's a negatory Red Four. The last Stanley Cup win we stumbled into the post-season on a losing streak after we'd sown up 1st place with about a month to spare. Compared to the umpteen times the last 15 years we've breezed into the playoffs on the back of a long winning streak and........got dumped, often in a humiliating 1st round kind of way. This season has been like every other Wings season in the Lidstrom era. Loooooong win streak, short lose streak. Wash, rinse, repeat. A nice losing streak is *EXACTLY* what we need going into the playoffs (although I'd rather it was a couple of games away). When the wings play bad for a stretch, they get mad and become very focussed and go on one of those domination streaks we all love so much

Exactly. How many times have we gone into the playoffs on an umpteen game win streak and got dumped in the first round. I'd be happy to go .500 the rest of the way, should still be enough for the Presidents and we won't be so complacent. And don't forget we were without Cleary, Homer, Downey, Cheli and Hasek tonight - that's 5 starters.

I want to say "un-believable", but that would be a lie. We have 18 pages here of how the NHL would bottle it and not give him the Chris Simon suspension he so clearly deserves. What more is there to say? I so hope we avoid the ducks in the playoffs, they're tough enough to beat as it is, without the refs and the NHL helping them out
