Yeah, I was just laughing at that In other news, Wings take lead shocker!
-
2nd straight game where there is no Wings feed on internet radio Even the Redwings site is playing the Buffalo feed
-
I though they already were! How many times do we hear commentators talk about the "war-room" in Toronto reviewing every goal around the league?
-
How do good teams fare when 6 of their best 10 players are down? Including their starting goaltender and their top 4 d-men? Without Niedermeyer and Selanne Anaheim were out of the playoffs. How much worse would they be without Giguere, Schneider, Beauchemin and Pronger at the same time? Good players make a good team. Without them teams aren't so good. Its prety obvious. Combine that with a mid-season slump and some BRUTAL officiating against in some big games and we are where we are. I expect us to go on a real tear once we're all back.

Sharks announcers are saying its non-reviewable
-
Nope, Redwings feed gives SJ commentary. Aaaaand, I just tried starting again to see if the Detroit commentary was up and now neither are working But I don't think I'm missing much....
-
GAH! NHL radio has the San Jose radio feed rather than Detroit Cue lots of "need to rough up the soft wings" comments

First Hockey game I ever saw was Toledo Storm against Roanoke - Toledo won 10-1

That was my biggest concern about his injury. He's going to have lost a lot of strength/weight when he comes back. He talks about putting it back on, but you can't gain a stone in weight - over and above your natural weight - in 3 weeks. But still I have a huge amount of man-love for Cleary and I wish we had another 5 of him.
-
Some things to consider 1) Once we get everyone back healthy, plus Stuart, Lilja drops down to 6 or 7 on the depth chart. Right now due to all the injuries he's been a 1st pairing d-man cos we ain't got no-one else. 2) Come the playoffs his minutes will be seriously reduced. Babcock likes to shorten his bench in the playoffs. With the top 5 we have I doubt Lilja will make 10 minutes per game. 3) Again, when everyone is healthy Lilja will be scrapping with Lebda for that 6th spot. Babcock has not been afraid of benching Lilja in the past, especially when he's not been playing physical enough. This season we've effectively only had 6 bodies on D, now we have 7. I think Babs can now afford to ride Lilja hard to make him use his size and earn his spot on the roster

Holland has already said one of the reasons they liked him was because of his gritty play in the Calgary series.

STUART! Yes! At last! 2nd and 4th

Feds.......

That's about the most sensible post I've seen today.... GAH! I'm going for me tea, hopefully when I come back I can read about how we've acquired Fedorov, Stoll and Staios.
-
Congrats Darren, only 1 more step to take before the cindarella story is complete.....signing a contract is only half the story. But nevertheless, I never thought he'd get anywhere near this. I look forward to a 4th line of Downey/McCarty/Drake on the ice against the Ducks
-
I would love a first round matchup against the Avs, if only because their team doesn't scare me in the least bit.
-
Congrats Pavel! Here's to the next 100

OK, this losing streak is officially starting to piss me off. Anyone know what Lidstrom's plus/minus has been the last 5 games? Cos he seems to be on the ice for a lot of the goals we've conceded.
-
Well, whilst wishing him well, I was certainly in the "I doubt he'll even get to the AHL" camp. Darren, you're starting to make me into a believer! Keep it up D-Mac, you go earn yourself that 2-way deal
-
ROFL! That's hilarious
-
He's a hockey player for crying out loud! In '02 Yzerman could barely walk without crutches......Mario Lemiuex played the 2nd half of his career with a back so bad he couldn't bend down and tie his laces....Gordie Howe has a knee like a deflated balloon..... Anyone who's been in the NHL 10+ years will have a body that hurts. They play through it. Thats what Hockey players do. Feds can play PK, PP, 2nd 3rd or 4th line. We can afford his salary. We can resign him cheaply. He has 163 points in 162 playoff games. As long as the cost isn't too much, I find his acquisition a no-brainer.
-
The reason we didn't sign any FA's other than Drake is because they all wanted multi-year deals. Holland knew he was going to have to resign Lidstrom then Zetterberg, Filpulla, Clealy, Lilja...... Signing an UFA to a multi-year deal for any kind of money would screw our chances of retaining our core, and Holland knew that.

Wings lose 5 straight? That's unpossible! Wings 5 CBJ 1
