Is this the worst we've played this season? Obviously there was there was opening night in STL, but then we got steamrollered by a good team. Today we're just terrible against a terrible team.

You know, you could just do what the rest of the sporting world does and award 1 point each for a regulation tie and go home I find it hilarious how Americans are incapable of comprehending that a sporting contest can end in a draw and doesn't require a winner. But then again, I come from the country where you can play a 5 day game of cricket that ends with no winner Seriously though, I would prefer to see OT extended to 10 minutes, and then have a shoot-out if we must. I actually really enjoy 4on4 OT.

Its an interesting D-corps we have now, and certainly one that is developing an identity - an identity I haven't seen in 20 years of watching the Wings. They block shots, they punish forwards along the boards, and most of all - they make the opponents pay a price in front of our net. For 20 years I've been watching opponents give our goalies a snow shower every time they freeze the puck whilst our D-Men stand around and do nothing. Not now, every opportunity, they are knocking guys on their ass, and I love it. Even Kindl is using his size! The downside of this, is that this is by far the worst puck moving D-corps I have seen in Detroit. Its brutally painfull watching us trying to break out of our zone at times as the forwards find the puck in their skates, or it gets turned over at the blue-line. We've also gotten a lot worse at keeping the puck in at the opponents blue-line, but then again Lidstrom was maybe the best ever at doing that.

I have to admit, if we do move East, I will miss our regular season games against Chicago. Even the ones we've lost (like today) have been entertaining, close fought games. They've been our best games to watch these last 3/4 seasons, shame that we've only had the 1 playoff series, and that when we were just coming down off our peak whilst they were just starting up the mountain.

Yeah, I'll never forget the flame wars on here in 07-08 between the Hasek and Ozzie fanboys - or more correctly the Hasek haters and the Ozzie haters. Which was ironic, because they both played great that season and had near identical numbers.

The "ruining NHL records" is such an absurd argument against any rule change. There have been significant rule changes throughout the history of the sport - how far back do you want to go? Shall we eliminate the forward pass? Y'know, just so we can compare eras? Regarding the game, its clear the Blackhawks are a very good team. Whether that means they'll be a very good team come playoff time, or they'll use up or their luck in the regular season remains to be seen. For Detroit - Flip and Bert can't come back quick enough. To all those saying 5 and a game is enough - the problem is its a meaningless penalty. Down 5-1 with 4 minutes to, you get thrown out the game for a dangerous cheap shot - where is the deterrent in that to stop you doing it again in the same situation? Where is the punishment to make you pay for doing it in the first place? I think what makes it worse is Jones is gliding backwards when it happens, as well as being unprepared, hence the whiplash effect on his back.

He's working real hard, which is what he needs to do because he doesn't have enough other attributes to have a place in the bottom six without that work.

Well, I think its fair to say that this is the first game this season where the LGW massiv has come out and blamed the refs for the loss. And I think that in itself, tells you all you need to know.
