Wow, thats incredible. I remember that Stars PK unit and it was just like a wall for 2 minutes at a time, but that was in the dead puck and oversized goalie pads era. For a team to do it under the current rules is amazing.

Its nothing to do with losing to him in '09. Plenty of Wings fans hated him before then. Me personally, I had nothing against him before the 08 finals, though there were already plenty of Crosby haters around. Seeing him up close and personal for 6 games led to my (and many others) personal dislike of him. Then the 08-09 Regular season, with the NHL advert that led you to believe Crosby won the cup in '08 and having him relentlessly rammed down your throat in all other regards was just oil on the fire. The 09 playoffs was merely more confirmation of what we already thought of him. Interestingly I work with a guy who's a big Canadiens fan, who never understood my Crosby dislike - until Montreal played Pittsburgh in the playoffs. After that series (which Montreal also won) he came up to me and said "I now understand why you hate Crosby"

Is anyone else just a little bit sad that Pronger will be out for this series? As happy as I was when he got injured, I know realise how much I would actually enjoy watching him repeatedly cross-checking Crosby throughout a series.

Poor performance aside from the usual push in the 3rd. Despite the W, this team is inspiring no confidence for the playoffs, at this point I think I'd rather play well and lose than play poorly and win. The latter produces complacency, and complacency produces losing streaks.

Well, after the last couple of seasons, getting past the 2nd round is a must. If we fail to reach the WCF again, then changes must be made, and all the weaknesses that have been apparent the last 3 seasons must be rectified. If we get to the WCF or even the SCF, then I imagine all our regular season shortcomings will be forgotten.

I remember a few seasons ago he said one of his career goals was to break the record for most goals in a season by a Sweded - 50 goals by Hakan Loob for Calgary IIRC. Don't know if he'll ever have a season like that now.

This team is not without its issues - Franzen, Cleary, the 4th line, road play - but after we blew them out Monday in an appalling effort by CBJ, this was always likely to happen.

By the time we've re-signed Lidstrom, Quincey, Abdelkader and Helm, and released Hudler, Stuart and Holmstrom, we have about $8m left in cap space which gives us a shot at only one of Parise and Suter.

$2-3M???? Stuart is worth more like $4-5M. Anyway, he ain't coming back, thats why we got Quincey.
