Rather unfairly too since his first 3 seasons he was on the 4th/3rd/2nd lines. Those first 2 seasons really skew his stats.
-
I think he'll do 1 more year. Next summer will see a big change in the Wings roster as the likes of Rafalski, Bertuzzi + Holmstrom will all retire. I imagine Nick will be one of them, to start a new era in Wings history.
-
Draper, Modano, Ericsson and Salei all let go. Trade Hudler for something if we can. Smith to be on the team full-time next season, try and get a decent bottom 3 defencemen with the money we have freed up.
-
Congrats San Jose, you were the better team over 7 games and deserved to advance. I couldn't give a flying F for either you or the Canucks though. I won't be watching any more hockey till October now, but I guess it would be nice for the Yzerbolts to win it all.
-
It was painful to watch him out there against the likes of Thornton. One of the keys to the series for me was our bottom 3 defencemen
-
Only 2 Wings turned up for every game this postseason. Datsyuk was one, Howard was the other. They both deserved better.
-
Would have preferred it if that heart had turned up for games 1 + 2. And maybe for a few of those regular season games the Wings coasted through that cost us 2nd place by 1 point.
-
wasn't that Zetterbeg? "This skinny little kid that no-one could get the puck off"
-
Anyone else noticed the dark circles under Thornton's eyes? Looks to me like someone isn't sleeping that well lately.....

Marleau with a goal and 13 assists. Roenick scores the GWG.
-
Win tonight Detroit, otherwise the last 3 games have been all for naught

Its hilarious isn't it? Really puny and thin, compare them to Lidstrom's stocky legs. I saw some comments on HFboards suggesting his bow legs may be related to his skating style (I'm no skating coach, but he obviously skates differently to anyone else that I can think of) You look at Datsyuk and you would never guess he was one of the most talented athletes on Earth.

Those Who Were at the Game --- Have You Ever Heard a Crowd So Loud?

As ever A2Y says it best -
And what did he show us during the regular season that would make anyone think he would play like this in the playoffs? He was average at best and poor for long stretches. But credit where its due, he's been superb, keeping us in games we didn't deserve to be in, and no wings goalie has ever really had to do that during our playoff years.

And officially take over from Sammy as most hated/most loved in one fell swoop
-
Nice thread resurection Not many would choose Thornton now methinks

Yep, and this has been true for the 20-odd years I've been watching them. CBC on the other hand really like to mike up the crowd. Having said that, you can still tell on TV when the crowd is REALLY energised. 2008 game 5 is the one that sticks in my mind after Rafalski's goal. -
Actually he likes skating ability up the middle, and being the first forward on the backcheck.
-
Hate to say it guys, but I think this is going to be agonising - I'm feeling double or even triple OT tonight. Whether we'll have a Larionov or a Sykora I cannot tell.
-
Oh my.....3 superb Gifs Hard to pick a favourite, but Kook's lightsaber one is at +57 and counting - that's Lidstrom territory.

Does that go for fans of all teams, or just the teams you support? Is a Lions fan who thinks they'll lose every game not a fan in your eyes? Once again you show that you do no understand the difference between hope and expectation. I hope that this post doesn't get deleted, but I expect that it will.

Match fixing in a proffesional sports league? That'll never happen

Babcock admitted in the press conference he was basically rolling 3 lines. Last time we did that was 2007 when Calder & Bertuzzi spent entire games riding the pine. So much for our much vaunted depth.... Still, at least we've got lines other than Pavel's creating offence now.

This. Thats the trade-off we made, cup in 2008 for a overpaid late 30s PP specialist now. At least his contract only has 1 more year to go.
