Thats why I'm getting bored of it. You say it like he had any points in the first place?

Wings have wanted this for several years, I think they would definately prefer Toronto, but NBC wouldn't countenance it. Whether they would want Wings-Bluejackets and market it as Ohio-Michigan.....

Babcock considers having 'warm, gooey spot' for Chris Osgood
Nev replied to evilzyme's topic in General
Ooooh, now there's a thread. Babcock or Zetterberg? Babcock or Datsyuk? Anyway, Ozzie just needs to play, get it done and get it out the way. He's been on about 400 wins for a couple of years now so its clearly important to him. -
Say what you like about his goaltending, but there is no question that Ozzie is one of the most popular wings in the locker room. Now, like Babs says, they better play well and get it done

Ouch. And I'm getting bored with this "go after the opponent following a clean hit" garbage,

Bend over and take it like a man You did it us for the last 20 years and whats good for the goose is good for the gander

Add that to the "I never knew that" category Interesting that he compares Lidstrom + Harvey and not LIdstrom + Robinson.....

I dunno about the 2nd part. Right now we have a lot of prospects who seem to be projected to be 3rd liners, maybe 2nd if things work out. The only bona fide stud we have is Smith. Its not like the early 2000s when we knew we had Zetterberg, Kronwall and to a lesser extent Datsyuk coming through (I say that since even when he made the NHL, no-one had any inkling Pavs would become what he has whereas Hank & Kronner came with a lot of hype).

Yep, do it in the Mile High Stadium (is it still called that?) Should be easy to market.

Milestone Watch - Chris Osgood Approaching 400 Career Wins

What if he gets it next week in St Louis? How do the Bitter Blues feel about Ozzie? -
Kovulchuk -18? MINUS EIGHTEEN???????

Can I just say what an amazing goal by Datsyuk......haven't seen a burst of speed like that from him since the wind assisted goal in the Winter Classic. And that backhand........wow.

I hadn't forgotten his 2009 playoffs. He was one win away from a Conn Smythe. But he still sucked big time that regular season. I hate that argument as to whether someones number should be retired. You know why? Because there will ALWAYS be debate. As dumb as it may be, there are people in this thread who think Nick Lidstrom should not have his number retired. Therefore there is now a debate. Therefore Lidstrom does not get his number retired, all because there are 1 or 2 idiots wherever you go.
-
If he hadn't sucked the last 2 regular seasons, if he'd played anywhere near his 2008 form, then probly yes. But will people remember the brick wall that was Ozzy in '08, or the booze soaked sieve of '09 and '10?

Wings almost never lose 4 on the bounce. Especially 3 straight at home. Especially with a healthy line-up. But dayum if I'm not getting cheesed off with this preferential treatment for Hudler. Tell me why he deserves to be on the 2nd line and Flip + Bert on the 3rd? Be interesting to see how Hank does trying to carry Jiri Marleys chain

Thankfully, you said it so I don't have to.

Or like Bill Jeanerette calling us "the rings" during a radio commentary a couple of years ago. Now that was a freudian slip

Don't be too proud. The only reason that Canada as you know it never participated in slavery is quite simply because it isn't old enough, even if you go as far back as 1867. You might also want to do some reading on pre-confederation Canada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Canada Slavery is as old as human history, and I get really hacked off at the modern day PC propaganda that slavery was something that was only done by white europeans to black africans.

My memory of that OT game? I recorded it on my VCR - on long play - went to watch it the next day and the video ran out before the game ended! Cue mad scramble to find out result! I remember the 2002 World Cup was going on at the same time in Korea/Japan and a lot of the players couldn't sleep afterwards, so they stayed up watching that through the night drinking, ironically, a red wine or 2 to help them relax And one of the canes, I forget who, was on an IV between OT periods he was so dehydrated.

Wings toughest test since we went into Vancouver. Having said that, LA always most of the lower bowl full of wings fans

Poor old Lebda. Its not his fault Brian Burke is an idiot.

And who is on the other side of Larionov at that moment? Fedorov. Talk about 3 generations of Russian greats....that right there says everything about that '02 team

And we like to think that the NHL has incompetent, corrupt leadership. They ain't got a patch on FIFA. An enclosed, secretive, unregulated, self-serving cabal of corrupt old men who live their lives between 5-star hotels, limos and private jets. Sepp Blatter makes Gary Bettman look like an inspirational visionary. England + America were rated 100% and "unbeatable" in a FIFA commisioned report. Russia + Qatar were both rated "high-risk" in the same report. Russia knew they had won 24 hours before the result was announced, Qatar at least 30 minutes. There is not a single footballing reason why Russia, and most especially Qatar should host these games. Should be fun watching games being played in 50 degree heat.
