He also gave Flip a smack in the chops after he scored the 2nd goal, but thats not as relevant as the fact that the guy has previous.

He was a role player. An important role player, but a role player nevertheless. Babcock liked to get him on the ice a lot in the 1st period to "set the tone", but in terms of importance to the team he was behind at least *deep breath* Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Franzen, Filpulla, Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart and of course Osgood. He's in the Cleary/Hudler/Draper/Helm cluster, and I can't be bothered to rank their contributions because there's no point. The whole team was a machine that year, Drake was just one of many well oiled cogs.

Yep, him and Duchesne were excellent on the 3rd pairing. Definately his best play with Detroit.

Franzen said last year that Helm was the fastest skater he'd ever seen. Someone mentioned Fipulla, Babcock has said in the past he is the best skater on the team (NB "best", not "fastest").

Thankyou Stolberg. He won best D-man because he got on a hot scoring streak - given that he can still pass & shoot, thats not surprising. He' still a half decent player, and will deservedly be on our 1st PP unit. But if you think he hasn't lost a step or 2 since he first signed........I don't know what else to say.
