Y'know when people say "no-one ever likes to see a player injured"? Not true. Players who have a habit of injuring other players with dirty play? I revel in seeing them get hurt. Hopefully Cooke has to retire from concussion related problems and spends the rest of his life contemplating the players he injured. And hopefully the same treatment gets meted out to Pronger, Ruttu....

Shave and haircut tonight, then its time to let it grow No trimming or nothing whilst its growing. Its been pretty epic the last 2 years

Scary thing is, somewhere in Mike Babcock's house is a real picture like that......

Just watched the videos on page 1......emotional, and I'm not even a Stars fan.
-
y'know, I despise Crosby as much as the next man, but to get to 500 points so quickly is impressive, even with all the caveats.
-
A sure-fire HOF entry, one of the greatest American players ever, and a classy guy to boot. His public criticism of the Stars a couple of years ago when the had Ott & Avery gooning it up was one of the most honourable and courageous statements I've heard from a hockey player.
-
So, Hall of Famer or not? On the plus side, 525 career goals and two 50 goal seasons whilst playing in the dead puck era with 5 all-star appearances. On the minus, poor playoff record and no individual awards...

I used to love Buccigross, and read his column every week going back years - I've even had several letters printed in his column - but this season I've gone right off him. * His constant man-love for Crosby makes me puke. Bucci hung his hat for years on being different to all the other pundits, now he's as bad as, or worse than them, relentlessly force-feeding him down our throats. And when he's not talking about Crosby, he's talking about Malkin or Ovechkin. Yawn. * His constant claims to be a fan of hockey, not favouring one team over another, when he spends most of his time talking about Pittsburgh, Boston and Philly in that order. * Yes, the music references are getting boring now. Great chunks of song lyrics are treated like the poetry in Lord of the Rings - they get skipped. Lots of other little stuff too, I'm just not interested now.

Wow, not a lot of love for Drapes in here....his best offensive season in several years, the 4th line of him, Eaves and Helm has been terrific, and he is a leader off the ice - not just vocally, but also by example. The (deservedly) much maligned Williams said when he re-signed here last summer that in all his travels around the league he hasn't come across better conditioned athletes than Draper & Datsyuk.
-
And why is Justin.tv all messed up with the different windows overlapping?
-
What are the predictions on the first mention of Crosby, and total number of mentions?
-
My problem with Williams & Meech isn't their size, but that they're just not very good hockey players. And that's being hard on Meech - he's a #8 dman asked to play forward, what can you expect? Eaves, Draper & Helm are all undersized, but has there been a better 4th line in the NHL this year?
-
96 was definately the worst for me, I figured that we were *never* going to win the Stanley Cup. If that '96 squad wasn't good enough, what was it going to take? I remember an Yzerman quote where he said he was in the pits of despair that summer, he just wanted to stay inside with a bag over his head.
-
Indeed, as John Buccigross points out (when his typing hands aren't wrapped around Sydney Crosby's manhood) - there is no-one else in the NHL who can do what Pavel Datsyuk can. So a serious question for the older hockey fans in here - is Datsyuk the greatest stick-handler ever? Can you imagine what he would have done to 80s defences and goalies?
-
Ever? Anyways, one of the best things about sucking for most of the season is that our players actually celebrate regular season goals now As for Pav, I thought his assist on Stuart's goal the other night was a thing of beauty - skating the length of the ice with the puck stuck to his stick and facing 3 defenders right in front of him, none of whom could get it off him. Joyous.
-
Aw c'mon, I thought that was pretty funny
-
Man, thats the funniest thing I've seen since Hudler in Game 5 last year!
-
On the contrary, I always remember him as being a very honest interviewee who didn't go for the usual hockey cliches. One of the things I liked the best about him *points at sig*

I mean, I know Jimmy's been good and all that, but really? Better than Osgood/Hasek in 2008 when they won the Jennings and Osgood was the starter at the All-Star game, 1st in GAA and went 27-9-4? Now I know we had a much better team then, but still. Does he really mean this, or is he having another jibe at Ozzie (who would now offically be Hudlers replacement as Mike Babcock's go-to scapegoat). http://sports.espn.g...cott&id=5034714

Sounds awfully like Shanahan the last few seasons in Detroit, only he had Datsyuk dishing him the puck. As someone said at the time, he had the quietest 40 goal season in NHL history.

NHL announces 2012 + 2013 Winter Classics 2012: Pittsburgh v Philly @ Heinz Field 2013: Pittsburgh v Washington @ Heinz Field
-
They (the flame wars) were such a joke in 07/08 though. Both were playing terrifically. In fact IIRC they ended up with identical numbers that year.

Forget the Calder, he's now being talked about for the Vezina and even MVP! http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?columnist=burnside_scott&id=5034714
