Sound familiar? Welcome to the club Andreas

I meant to post this last night but the wife was using the PC for work so I couldn't get on it. The JuJu was strong last night - sat in the workshop with the radio on, when "Don't Stop Believing" was followed by a Pink Floyd song (one I've never heard of, but a Pink Floyd song nevertheless) I thought of you and was entirely confident of a game 3 win Sammy = Clutch Ozzie, I'm sorry I doubted you during the season (but you were playing like crap)
-
This was the year I got into hockey. It was incredible, putting ESPN on every morning and watching Lemiuex make opposing goalies look stupid game in and game out
-
Its my boys 5th birthday, win it for him guys Just hope the Wings don't suffer from After-the-Lords-Mayors-show syndrome tonight...
-
He did give him a little pat on the chest after the handshake
-
He split up the "big 3" so at least one of them wouldn't be on the ice against Niedermeyer/Pronger all the time and forced Carlyle to make a choice about who we would try and defend against. We just beat our arch-rivals in a close-fought, epic series and you are still complaining?

This FTW. Seriously, the Joe was rocking tonight - my speakers nearly broke on the Pronger no-call Can't wait to get up tomorrow afternoon and watch the highlights (not the goals, I mean a soon-to-be-golfing Pronger in the handshake line). The Chicago-Detroit series is going to be a doozy. I think we match up better against them than Anaheim, but I wonder if we'll have anything left after this series!

Can someone please ban the troll, or at least ignore him. This thread wouldn't be half as long without all the replies to his posts.

All this "the Pens played a really clean game talk", since when did that matter in todays NHL? Seriously? Each team will usually get called for 2-3 complete BS penalties per game. "Even-ups", "tone-setters", "favouritism", call it what you will, the fact remains that you can play a competely disciplined, infraction free game and the refs will still put you on the PK several times.

UK Night Shift reporting for duty Thankfully NHL radio works again on my PC at work so I will be able to listen to this game between samples I've got a horrible feeling the Wings are due for another horrific disallowed goal tonight, but hopefully the goal and 13 assists by Datsyuk in a 14-3 win will negate that. Let the final round of the battle between Good and Evil commence

To even talk of Conn Smythe candidates 3 games into the 2nd round is ridiculous
-
Thought the same thing myself Kopecky: Broken face Lilja: Broken brain Hossa: Penalty for not tying down shirt Cleary: Poked in eye Maybe there's a lesson in there. What that lesson is depends on whether you are pro or anti "toughness" I guess

I lol'd On a serious note - its not such a bad move. Helm has been getting more and more minutes (cos he's awesome), adding Sammy to the 4th line gives it a bit more of a scoring touch (the only thing it lacks). I've not even noticed any Sammy-esque brain-farts with the puck these playoffs. In fact, in game 4 he did a beautiful job at one point hanging onto the puck in the neutral zone whilst we completed an entire line change
-
Its called Home Ice Advantage.
-
The big problem with the 4th line - as brilliantly as Helm is playing - is the complete lack of scoring touch. Whilst ever Draper is out, I would be tempted to swap Leino for Kopecky. We all saw in the regular season how the addition of Leino utterly transformed the 4th line. Once Draper is back (fingers crossed for game 4), Helm will probly jump up the 3rd line (as stated by Babcock before Drapers injury) and someone, probably Hudler, will drop down to the 4th, giving it a bit more firepower.
-
Man alive, triple overtime......where's Igor Larionov when you need him? Gunna be nearly midnight here by the time the 6th starts...
-
In a bizzare way, I'm glad my slowly dying PC can't play a video stream worth a damn because it is a LOT less stressful listening to the radio feed. I cannot abide watching the wings in OT - churning stomach, shaking hands etc. Radio makes it easier. Datsyuk with the GWG to silence his critics.
-
Pretty sure that Feds signed a 2 year contract last summer. Hopefully the Caps will get to the finals this year (where they lose to the Wings).
-
Becoming the first European captain to win the Stanley Cup - just a few years ago there were plenty of people who said it would NEVER happen.
-
Yes Hudler should have kept his head up, and no it wasn't a late hit, but if you watch the first replay (the one low down, from Hudlers left) it is CLEARY a hit to the head, and for that reason alone, a suspension is warranted.
-
Finally! This week has dragged on forever. Hopefully the Wings are as stir-crazy as the rest of us and come out flying. Wings win 14-3, Datsyuk with a goal and 13 assists.
-
In a bizarre kind of way, this could work in the Wings favour. I was wondering anyway if Babs would split up Lids & Rafalski to put either Stuart or Ericsson with Lidstrom to help combat the size of the Getzlaf line. Will hurt our PP though - and we all know making the Ducks pay for their buffoonery is one of the keys to the series

Couple of very interesting quotes in th Freep today Now we all know Helm can skate, but those 2 quotes really stood out to me http://www.freep.com/article/20090426/SPOR...ct+for+playoffs
-
Not even Lidstrom can be mentioned with those 2 in terms of impact on Wings history (although he should be). Feds is 3rd all-time in playoffs points, 4th all-time in regular season points. As mentioned above, 163 points in 162 playoff games is a phenomonal stat. #91 won't be retired anytime soon, and I believe the same will be the case for Shanahan, Osgood, Holmstrom, Draper, Maltby and McCarty. But eventually that time will come. One day the Wings will suck. It won't be anytime soon, but one day they will suck. Lidstrom will be gone. Datsyuk and Zetterberg will be gone or aging vets burdened by a high cap number. Ken Holland will be gone. Mike Babcock will be gone. Mike Ilitch will be dead. And we will suck. It might not be for another 10, 20 years. But one day, we will suck. And attendances will plummit. The Joe, or [insert corporate sponsor] Arena will be empty. And fans will look back and reminisce on the teams of this era, and management ("modern", less traditional, less classy management), desperate to reinject some life into the fanbase, to get bums on seats, will start retiring the great old names of the past. I've just never figured out why everyone hates Fedorov for leaving as an UFA, but when Shanny does the same its "Good luck"
