I've said it before, but to re-sign Hossa & Zetterberg, we need to find approx $5M in cap space. Even if we don't re-sign all of Sammuelsson, Hudler, Franzen, Chelios, McCarty, Downey and Kopecky, that only comes to $5.75M - because the problem is that all those guys will have to be replaced by Ericsson, Abdelkader, Helm and Leino who total about $3M, for a net cap gain of only $2M Thats the issue - all our FAs are making so little, that the young 'uns who will replace them are making pretty much the same. QFT. As someone said at the time, when he spent that last season playing as Datsyuk's wing, he had the quietest 40 goal season in NHL history. You gotta love Datsyuk. From shy 4th line centre with the dazzling stick-handling to dominant 2-way player.
