Sounds like someone is completely clueless on how the world works. This is laughable, and I was absolutely correct. Regardless of what 'some' people said and made fun of me over. He doesn't want to play for the crap team. He even stated that he wasn't sure how to help them. For all of you people who say that he has no 'rights' in the matter. You have issues. He wanted to play for a contender and a crap team took him. He's older now and doesn't want to wait to win. If you wanted the same thing, would you say, "I have no right I will suck for now." I'm sure you would not.

Here is how I see all of this. Nabokov is within his rights as a HUMAN BEING to not report. He will suffer the consequences but I'm sure he knows exactly what it all entails. Giving too much power to an organization over a person is unethical and just plain wrong. Should he go in? I think so, that way he can evaluate where he thinks, he and them are at. "Can I help this organization right now? Do I like these players and personnel?" It would give the feel of college recruiting, but seems fair to me. Now do I think he can help them? Of course, but not in the long term and not this year. Nabokov wanted to play for a cup, he should have a choice to do so. Will he get that chance? Probably not. The way that the NYI's do things, and they're past dealings shows that they probably aren't going to play 'puck' with him or his agent. So here we are with an unwilling player and an organization that needs him for the short term. Problems abound, but the best thing they can do is have a meeting and discuss what both parties are looking for in the situation. NY needs help in the net, and Nabokov wants to play for a contender. Evaluate the current NHL outlook, make some calls and find out what can be done. If all works out, he could be put on waivers 'clear' and be traded giving NY something out of this. Will this happen? NO. C'mon you can't think that he'll clear on a second try? We're looking at an unwinnable scenario. He won't report, they'll have to suspend him. They can try to get him to 'honor' next year, but the NHLPA is going to have a few words on that. UNETHICAL is the biggest one. He won't play today if this happens, hell, he won't play this season. Instead he'll hit FA next year and end up somewhere else. Case closed. If he wants to play somewhere else, this is what will happen. If he reconsiders, then we'll see where it all goes. I wouldn't play for them either. I would suit up and the first time the puck comes near me I would allow it to go in. Does this make him look like a ******? Maybe. But someone has to take a stand for these crappy rules. Rosa Parks did it, along with everyone who has ever defied the status quot. I would never ask anything else of someone, nor should you.

After his 400th? Yeah, I think he deserves the HHOF AND a retired Number. C'mon look at the stats! The man is one of the BEST Goalies EVER. To be honest, if you think he doesn't you're crazy. He is more than likely going to retire as a Red Wing, with everything he has contributed to the team I WANT that # up there. Lidstrom and Osgood deserve to be up there together. Is it sacred ground? Surely, and these two are the best still left of those teams. Draper and Holmstrom did not provide like them so NO they don't need to be retired. Neither does Shannahan or Fedorov, they left and even if they contributed like Yzerman they weren't "The Captain" or our goalie or 6-Time Norris Trophy winner. Tell me number 30 wouldn't look good up there with 5!

Went to an autograph signing for him yesterday and asked what was up with him. He said, "Tell everyone to shut up and watch the rest of the season!" Not really, but seriously, how many games are we in and you're already all complaining? Christ almighty...

Yes, and you just said what I did only more in depth. The players don't set the fee, the store and agents do. And to make sure the store makes back its money, they must set the fee high usually due to the agents. Most players are high end in Detroit for hockey. This guy is a sure fire HoFamer and doesn't sign a lot. So getting him for this price is a good one. I went, and he was a great guy. Asked him a few questions and got a picture with him. Great to meet him.

Its not bad at all considering how much some other guys want. Franzen and Holmstrom are coming up and they want the same amount each. I think they over charge. You won't get him at the Joe. He doesn't sign apparently. I tried...

Eaves is one of my favs, glad he got a shorty from Helmer. Jimmy saves some pretty crazy stuff, but suddenly he can't stop simple shots. Hope he picks it up this year.

He's not the new Drake. That was it's own thing and it is over now. Modano is playing for the team he grew up watching and loving, and that is his epic story. Can he be an inspirational player? Probably not, however he will be a sight to see on the ice and in this fans opinion, he will return to form with actual decent players next to him. Expect the Awesomeness.

To be honest it probably was a bit of luck and bounces. The NHL can be as harsh as the MLB. Slight changes in the way you move, or how you hit/shoot can make even a prolific player have a bad year. Same for an injury too I suppose but many men have come back from that. Cheech probably needs a confidence boost, and he'll find his groove again. Betcha the Wings could fix him.

The Time Of Arrival. Out of the 400 wristbands, I ended up being 396. So it gives you an idea of when you needed to be there. I was lucky to get a band. The LINE... Around the building and around 150 people didn't receive wristbands. The MAN. He was very happy and in a good mood. I stuck around and was like the 15th person in line to see him. The Autograph. Love it, he really liked my drawing and shook my hand. Onto the next one!
