Yzerman was one dimensional player when he had his big scoring seasons. Sure, he was 3rd best scoring center in the league twice, but not top3 player. Other than those two big years, he has only a few more top10 scoring finishes. Later on, he had to sacrifice his offense to become great two-way player. Steve Y is basically neck and neck with Joe Sakic, though in the end, I'd have to say Sakic is better all-time player (mainly due to better longetivity for Sakic), but it is close. Lidstrom is the best player of the last decade, hands down. Steve may have had greater impact on the franchise off the ice (marketing etc.), but on the ice, Lidstrom has been the most important player since Gordie Howe. I mean prime Lidstrom equals 28+ minutes of flawless defense and excellent offensive support. Night in and night out. It's pretty hard to top that. How about this: Peak: edge Yzerman Prime: edge Lidstrom Longetivity: Lidstrom by far Hardware: Lidstrom Sorry, but I have to put St. Nick ahead of Steve Y when it comes to best Red Wings of all-time. That said, Steve Y is the more flashy player, and his heroics in playoffs are legendary. I'd say he is a better Captain than Lids, but not the better player. And yes, we are damn lucky that we had the chance to watch both players in Red and White

Yes, Yzerman did all he could have done, but he was not even the best forward on the team (Fedorov), let alone player. Steve Y gets overrated by Wings fans (understandable, but still wrong), but Lidstrom is very easily better all-time player.

See..no one has so many intangible skills as Jonathan Toews. That was a perfect hit!

OMFG Among others, Jan Marek died too. His baby is just a few weeks old. He was not sure he wanted to go to KHL this year, and decided at the very last moment. This is just insane. R.I.P.

Colorado would have won IMHO.
-
Sharks were lucky to beat the Wings. The first two games Sharks won were decided by fluke goals. Canucks are mentally soft team. Injury plagued Chicago almost took them out. Sharks were out of juice after the Wings series. Boston was not even that good in the finals. A weak champion this year. And the East is a joke. Tampa - Boston finals. LOL

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?
Reds4Life replied to hockey&beer's topic in General
I think they are pretty bad. Definitely not a playoff team IMHO. -
Not a bad deal for Canes.
-
He's a diver, waste of roster spot and a head-case. Yay for the Hawks. Even the Flyers said goodbye to that *******.
-
Good number 6? So Smith and Kindl sit? I hope FatAss Mike will be 7th dman at best.
-
LOL I guess Holland started drinking again. Wings need top4 defenseman, with Ericsson being the 5th one and Kindl and Smith playing for the 6/7th spot. Commodore is slow, washed-up player. WTF is going on in Detroit today. This is absolutely USELESS signing. It brings nothing to the team. Top6 forward and top4 defenseman are needed. Not this crap.

One of the best Trolls ever. LOL

Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)

BJs will regret this. Wiz is not worth that much. Not even close. -
Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract
Reds4Life replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Pretty much. It's sad to see that Eaves gets peanuts and Ericsson cashes in. That said, it's great to have Eaves back! I can't believe that the same GM made both of these deals. I thought Eaves deserved 2M/yr. -
Campbell can easily be no2-3 defenseman on almost any team. Campbell is much better offensive defenseman and is better defensively.
-
So his sick mom made him post 33 points in 160+ games, while being soft and minus 11? Not.
-
Maybe Holland will stay at home today..so he does not make any more MORONIC moves. Ericsson for 3+ per year. LMAO. Panic move by Kenny Perfect.
-
This is a fracking joke. Soft defenseman, no offensive skills. One of the worst signings I have ever seen. Brian Campbell has MUCH better contract than this crap.
-
Kopecky at 3 million? LMAO
-
God no. Komisarek is useless.
-
Bergeron for 1 million? Ericsson is even worse..and he wants more lol.
-
Why would he play on the 3rd line when he's better than all our wingers (excluding Z who is at his best when he plays center), except for maybe Franzen (way too streaky player though).
-
He's still a kid. You don't give up on a talent like him when an obstacle is in the way..unless you're Blue "Lost All Playoff Games..Ever" Jackets, apparently.
