Ericsson will not be gone, thats for sure.

wow totally unexpected..Wings are now the best team by far, on paper. SC contender no.1..that means lots of pressure, I hope our guys can handle it.

Most outrageous, overpaid deals in recent history?
Reds4Life replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
Ok for you perhaps, but Worldwide American dollar is going down very fast. 1 dollar Just over 15CZK now, 6 years ago it was 40+CZK. That simply means you could buy much more stuff for 6.5million few years ago than you can now. (practically in whole Europe, not just my homeland). I agree. -
Wings out of picture for Sundin, Hossa, Rolston

I think Flyers are the best in the East at the moment. Pens without Hossa and Malone still are good team, but definitely weaker than 07-08 Pens. Rangers might be dangerous too, depends on whether they can get some solid wingers. Also, Tampa Bay will be strong team (in the East ). I would not call Pens eastern favourites.. -
That is very fair offer for Mats. 7 million and playing for SC contender. It would be awesome to see him in a Red Wings uniform

American dollar has never been weaker. 6.5 in 1998 is at least 13, probably more, now. (Definitely in Europe). Jagr made almost 100 million, the most in history, but Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux surely earned more than that when endorsement deals and other business ventures are factored in. Also Eddie Shore and other hockey legendes barely made few thousands.. -

6.5 million bucks today has maybe 1/3 value of 6.5 million when Gretzky earned it. -
We have Lilja. For 2 more years.
-
And yet another brutal deal..ugh
-
Brutal deal. Good to see Hawks screw it though
-
Yeah, Jagr is greedy bastard, right. Thats why he plays for Omsk..oh wait.
-
It would be great to see Jaromir retired as a Penguin. To all Jagr bashers: FU.
-
Very good deal. Conklin is solid goalie, Kenny you are God
-
This just made my day. Awesome!
-
Exactly. You never know when his back flare up again.
-
Overpaid. Green is brutal defensively.
-
Great deal! Lilja for about 1 million is awesome
-
Kopecky brings so little to the team..it is not even close to Drake's efforts. Kopecky is big soft player. Drake was smaller hard hitting guy. The two of them are so beyond different players it isn't even comparable.
-
My thoughts exactly. Bad deal for Oilers. One would think they learn from the Souray case..
-
Brutal deal. 7 years? wow 4.4 million for guy who did not even score 30 goals. And he was playing with Malkin/Crosby.
-
So building winning team does not make him good? Since when? I mean everyone is a smartass after the move was made. Burke is one of the best GMs just look at his work in Anaheim. He re-built poor team and made Ducks elite team in the NHL. Name any other GM (Holland does not count) who is better than Burke.
-
Of course he is. And yes, Ducks are still top4 team in the West - thanks to Burke.
-
Bourque won his Cup after playing full season for Avalanche.
-
Oh really? Then we should trade Rafalski. He makes 6 million and is not 2x better than Kronwall. Geez. You pay for star players. Giguere is proven playoff goalie. Bryzgalov is averge goalie at best. Burke came to Anaheim and built the best team in the league (07 Cup) in 2 years. If that is not one of the best, then I don't know. They won the Cup and still made the playoffs next year, neither Canes or Oilers managed to do that after Canes Cup in 06. I hate the Ducks, and Burke, but he is one of the best. Name any othe GM who came to some team, completly changed team and won Cup in 2 years. Good luck finding one. Holland is better than Burke, that's about it. edit: As for Pronger, he is the 2nd best defenseman in the NHL. I totally see how Ducks trade their best player to divisional rival LA for overrated Jack Johnson and O'Sullivan. This is not fantasy league, you know, right?
