Carter is not worth 5 million now, that's for sure. Not a good move by Flyers in my opinion.

They were pretty bad team and if not for their hot streak after Niedermayer and Selanne returned, they would not make the playoffs. They were not playoff team for most of the season. Not to mention their offensive problems, they simply suck at offense. Their D was pretty bad too, Schneider was their best defenseman..that speaks for itself. They were pathetic in playoffs. It was good to see them doing bad. And as a bonus, they have the great Bertuzzi deal for one more year They are not going to make the playoffs in 08/09 imho.

Prospal is solid player, good chemistry with Vinny Lecavalier. Would be good signing for Tampa.

Yes. Pens D is not that bad. Superstar winger is much more valuable than good defenseman. Pens can easily keep Hossa and get another decent defenseman like Commodore.

I am very well aware that defense is very important, but what defensemen can they sign? Green is available so I put him in as an example. Bouwmeester could also be potentially signed by Pens.. other than them..what players can improve Pens D? Rozsíval? Streit? I don't know. If there was elite defensemen available, I would definitely agree with you that Pens should go after him, but at this point, Hossa is the best player they can get..and 7 million for Hossa is bargain, any team would take that deal.

I disagree. Crosby > Lecavalier Hossa >> St.Louis Malkin >> B.Richard It is much better to spend 7 million on Hossa than Mike Green or someone like that. There are not any elite defensemen available. Hossa is very good defensively. If Penguins can keep Crosby, Hossa, Malkin, Staal and Fleury..they will be real contender. They could go after Jay Bouwmeester, but I heard Florida will not let him go.
