I agree. Lidstrom at his best did not faced all time greats like Bourque, but he would win Norris against anyone but Orr and Bourque imho. Potvin is very very close to Lidstrom, Harvey and Shore are close too. Bobby Orr is without a doubt the best in both offensive and defensive aspect of the game.

I would not trade Sammy, he is definitely worth 1.2 million. No thanks to Feds and Sundin. I don't care about Lilja, for 1 million he is decent 6th dman. I would get rid of Kopecky asap. Sign all of these to long-term (3-4 years): Filppula, Franzen, Zetterberg, Hudler, Samuelsson, Stuart, Ericsson

Only Lidas will have his number retired. Ozzie and Fedorov..no way. -
Lidstrom, and it's not even close to be honest. Lidstrom is in top5 defensemen group. I would rank him 3rd(Orr, Bourque, Lidstrom, Potvin, Harvey). I do love Steve Yzerman but Nicklas Lidstrom is better hockey player and is definitely higher on the all-time list.

Filppula is awesome! He played through injury, did not practise for weeks and yet he was integral part of Red Wing's success. He is really great player. I do hope Kenny re-signs him very soon

I doubt he will be back. He just won the Stanley Cup and has great chance to retire. He played over 1000 games..and he is not freak of Nature like Cheli so age is a factor too.

He wants big money? I don't belive that for a second. He has so much money already that he will not be able to spend them all. I am pretty sure all he wants is "Mats Sundin" to be engraved to the Stanley Cup. For 1-2million for one year, why not. But 8 million a year? Insane!
