If Osgood spent his career on the Islanders team, would there be any conversation about HHOF? Hasek has less wins because he was on a poor Buffalo team for most of his career. Is Osgood better? No way. Yzerman had one year where he could be considered the best center in the game, and he won the Pearson (Lindsay now) trophy that year. Your Hull analogy doesn't make sense. I meant that he is average goalie compared to the league. Overall, he has had an above average career for sure.

How is Osgood any better than Roloson? Osgood is a compiler, lucky to play for the Wings - behind one of the best defenses in the league for most of his career. If he hadn't joined Wings, there would be no discussion about HHOF or retiring numbers. It would be a disgrace to retire his number. As for his 3 Cups? The first one - Osgood was no.2 goalie; the second Cup - Wings won despite Osgood's piss poor performance; 3rd Cup - Osgood was great. One great playoff run does not make him HHOFer.

Are you kidding me? TEAMS win games. Awarding wins just to goalies is incredibly stupid. Osgood was NEVER the best goalie in the game, never. He is an average goalie, nothing more, nothing less.

Osgood is a compiler, giving Ws to goalies is stupid, the whole team wins, not just a goalie. If you give Wins to goalies, why not defensemen? Lidstrom has got to have over 800 wins easily.

Lidstrom - Bourque would be the greatest defense pairing ever. No contest. Jimmy D deserves a lot of credit, he is the true mastermind in the Red Wings organization.

Yes. But there were far better players than Steve (you know, not just forwards ), whether you want to admit that or not. Points are not everything. Messier is second in points all-time. Is he even close to top 4 ever? No freaking way. Yzerman scored 155 points in the 80s, era with most goals per game. When he did that, he was NOT a good two way player. When he became one, his scoring took a big hit. No sane person would even consider taking Steve Yzerman over Mario Lemieux on any team. Ever.

Agreed. If that. I mean seriously, Lemieux is 1-4 all time, Yzerman is top30-40. As for Steve Y better defensively? Who cares? Lemieux is so much better offensively that his defense is irrelevant. The other team prayed they do not get scored on. Mario is up there with Gordie Howe. And do not forget - Yzerman was great defensively when he scored around 80 points, he was not good defensively when he was in his offensive prime. But since this is LGW and most people are Yzerman worshipers, we are gonna get a lot of neg points.
