Toews: Most undeserving Conn Smyth winner in history?
Reds4Life replied to blues_demitra38's topic in General
Pronger should have won. Toews was mediocre in the finals. -
Why not? Yzerman starts stealing guys from the Red Wings just to put them to Tampa Bay. Why should Holland allow it? Just because Yzerman is a nice guy? Hell no. Let him prove he can find his own staff, not just steal them from organization he just left.
-
Holland should just tell him "go fook yourself Steve!". Seriously.

Yzerman asks Wings for permission to speak with capologist Martin
Reds4Life replied to Yzermania19's topic in General
Why should they allow Yzerman to steal this guy? Steve should be competent enough to find himself a capologist that is not part of the Red Wings. -
He could have taken 8 million too.
-
They apply if player is over 35 (or 34) years old.
-
Buttman said so.. (french source) http://www.ckac.com/hockey/nouvelles/un-plafond-salarial-a-58-8-millions-15703.html
-
Yeah, Lidstrom's value is 5 million .. just like Volchenkov's (he's gonna get it)? If you actually looked at his defensive numbers (goals against, quality of opposition etc.) you would never said such BS. He is slower, makes more mistakes and despite that he is still BY FAR the best defenseman Wings have.
-
Rafalski makes 6 million, how can you be mad if Lidstrom gets more? He MIGHT take a huge paycut, but some of the fans just expect him to do it by default, which is pretty stupid.
-
Those goalies (equipment) are not even close really. TBH I did not see anything special or similar. Datsyuk is MUCH better than Gretzky when it comes to dekes and breakaways.
-
Easy to play this note when you are not involved personally. Why should he take anything less than 6 million? I am not saying he won't, but to expect him to do it just like that is ignorant, stupid and selfish.
-
Probably because you are not a pro-athlete
-
Yes, because Yzerman did not make A LOT of money when he was a 3rd liner at best. But since there was no cap, it was no problem of course (except for maybe Illitch ). Lidstrom can easily command 6 or more million, it would still be a fair price. I think NHL PA would step in if he wanted to take 2 or so million a year.
-
I did not say he was liability or bad defensively. Just that he became elite defensive player when he was no longer offensive star.
-
155 points .. in the 80's. Also, Steve never even came close to that mark (137 in 92-93 and 127 in 89-90, other than tha no offensive star seasons). And it is a proven fact that he had to sacrifice some of his offense to become a good defensive player, which was needed to win the Cup. Yzerman started getting significant number of Selke votes when he was no longer an offensive star. It is a myth that Yzerman was an offensive star and provided Selke caliber defense at the same time.
-
lol at the bolded part Yzerman was either offensive star (early years) or defensive star (but significantly worse offensive player) later (Bowman). He was one of the most important Red Wings, obviously, but he does not deserve more credit (for the Cup wins) than Fedorov, Lidstrom or Shanahan. And Lidstrom then went to win another in 08. That means he was more important overall.
-
Illitch could have easily fired Holland if he wanted to.
-
I blame Holland. He should have sent Williams to waivers and if he cleared let him stay in GR. Holland dropped the ball with Quincey and now with Leino. I sure hope he does not give Homer a multi-year contract considering his poor health and that he is 37 (I think) years old.

Seems to be Yzerman. http://twitter.com/RealKyper

I never said anything about slew foot. LOL at Vokoun flopped, Perry had quite a momentum and while it was not close to a hit, it was enough to put Vokoun on his ass. It should have been 2 mins for Perry, nothing more or less. That would also make the goal illegal.
-
Yeah, he sure as hell looked so much better than players from European leagues, he totally dominated.
-
lol at "flop around" "slight bump" Team Canada, is as usual, full of sore losers, but it was a good play because a good ol Canadian fooker made it. Had it been made by a Czech against Mason, you would call for his head. Vokoun did not expect any contact, Perry gave him a slash and a shoulder. Refs blew this one big time, this should have been a minor penalty. Fortunately, Canadians did not win anyways, and I hope they go back to Canada pretty soon thanks to Russia. a better video:

Percentage of starts next year for Howard and Osgood
Reds4Life replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Depends on how he plays and where Detroit is in the standings. I hope it will be possible to go Howard-Osgood 45-37 or 50-32. -
lol Dats did not celebrate his hat-trick at all. Just skated by like nothing happened.
