10 Greatest Red Wing Defensemen Of All Time.
WingFanInOilCountry replied to up2here's topic in General
If Kronners can avoid the injury bug then he defiantly has the potential. It'll be interesting how Rafi preforms once St. Nick is gone. On a side note, I still have a Hatcher Wings jersey. What a foolish purchase that was. edit: spelling -

I believe you overlooked the pain train. -
And he proved he can play come April. I won't believe it from Joe until I see it.
-
Let's not forget, Big Joe has been a playoff no-show his entire career.

I really wouldn't want to see more teams making the playoffs. But if it did happen, one possibility could be a play-in series, much like the 64/65 game the tuesday before the NCAA tournement gets going. At the end of the regular season, seeds 8 and 9 in the conference could play a series, with the winner playing the first seed. It would probably have to be 3 games, as any more would give too much time off for the other teams.

The Oliers are nothing to worry about, even if they do make it. While not the ideal first round opponent, they are very beatable. This streak aside, their goal tending has been sub par. Unexperienced core of forwards. Nothing on defense. The good thing about streaks, they all come to an end. And at least if we do get the Oilers, we won't have to hear about how the Wings are far to soft to win the series. I'd take Aaron Downey over Zack Stortini any day.

Odds are we'll be playing one of these 4 teams...

I'd want to play the Wild for travel reasons since we'll be heading out to California for rounds 2 and 3. -
Naslund/Burtuzzi.... not the Canucks were ever really elite. but those two were pretty dominating before the Steve Moore thing.
-
The big difference between the 2, is that Simon's was blind rage, where as Pronger saw the oppertunity and took it. And i agree, I would rather get my well protected toe stomped with a skate then the back of my leg, with only a sock protecting it. Pronger definalty should have got at least double what he did. Then again, he should have got more last year in the WCF/SCFs as well.

Who do we WANT to play in the first round?
WingFanInOilCountry replied to Statiklullaby87's topic in General
Even if we play the nucks, Ouland is out. That leaves Sami Salo and Willie Mitchel as their top D-men. On top of that, the Sedin kids have one goal between the 2 of them going back to mid February. Nothing to worry about IMO. Bobby Lou can't/won't win the series for them. -
As it stands right now, its Sharks/Ducks in round 1. It would be nice if it stayed that way. Would probably be a physical series and whichever team comes out of it should be pretty banged up.

"(Ellis) was in a situation where I wasn't using him," "He wasn't fitting in on a regular basis. He'll play in the NHL for a long time because he's so determined. (But) he was getting less and less opportunity here." Quote from Babcock http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0485/1128/rss16

Both Datsyuk and Drake didn't participate in practice. Hopefully it was just a day off and not anything more serious. -
Agreed. He wants top 6 minutes, and unless he absolutely dominates over here he isn't going to get them with us.
