Here in San Francisco, I also quietly and proudly represent my Wings fandom with shirts, hats, jerseys, etc. I don't get much flack for it typically. I might be in the minority, but I think this news stinks. I want to beat a healthy team, not one heavy with injuries.

Forgive my lack of contract knowledge here, but is there something available akin to the two way contract that would let Chelios be a player coach, without taking a roster spot all year (i.e. he is an assistant coach, but can be called up to fill a spot in the case of injury or need)? What would the cap implications be in such a scenario? Edit: Didn't think this warranted a new thread. Apologies if this seems like a hijack, and feel free to move if so.

6 goals and a fight is in no way a loss for the league on NBC. One of their premier teams won, against their (reputed) biggest rival, scoring was high and fists were thrown. I'd say NBC has to be happy with this one, as should the NHL be.

I think he may be right... Fischer still has a locker, and no one has worn the number since. This may not be an official proclamation, but I think, unofficially, #2 is off limits.
