Mine's going strong. Shaved clean the day the playoffs started and haven't so much trimmed since. In related news, my girlfriend hates hockey.

Patrick Roy's son wants to be a hip hop star. http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/Cand...joe_daking_roy/ (didn't see this posted elsewhere. apologies if it has been)

Nope, I went 7/8 (I picked Anaheim).

Funny, I was thinking the same thing myself.

This is driving me nuts! I made plans long before the schedule was released to go see Robin Williams test out stand up material for a tour tonight at a venue with like 300 seats. I was so excited for it until they announced we'd be playing the Avs tonight... now I want to bail on my friend and watch the game. Arggggh. And before anyone recommends Tivo or somesuch, there is no way in hell I have the willpower to not check scores on my phone. It just isn't in me. This sucks!

I love this one. I've always hated when people call them the divealanche. It looks silly, doesn't really sound right and only describes one of their players all that well these days. Can we start calling them the Fragileanche instead, please?- 433 replies

Not to pick nits, but Hasek was in his prime playing against the likes of Roy and Brodeur. Very true. No disrespect to Joe, but if I had to pick one to build a team around in their prime, I'd go with Hasek. Either would be a fine pick, but there are so many more options at center than there are at goalie.

My guess is that he was on a catwalk in the rafters with a very expensive camera and a ton of skill as a photographer. Great shot.

Ok, I'll be the very first to admit that I missed the boat on Franzen early on. I was just never impressed, and once he started coming on, I didn't think he could sustain it. Ironically, I was the same way about Homer a few years back. Big props to both of them for proving me (very) wrong. I love Homer and his game these days, and if Franzen keeps making me look the fool for doubting him, I just may change my citizenship to Sweden.
-
I dunno about cursing his team, but when I saw him do it, I definitely thought it was a little... rude? Kinda like when Terrell Owens stepped on the Cowboys midfield star while he played for the 49ers.

I will admit that the chances of the rivalry reboiling increased dramatically with our re-signing of Mac, and with the deadline moves by the Avs... but without Shanny, Roy, Keane, Turtle, it's hardly the same. I wonder how much of an emotional boost Colorado would get if they were to play us next round? I'd venture they'd bring a higher octane emotional game than against, say, Nashville or Minnesota.
-
Sure, I'll root for them. 1) They're the easiest 2nd round opponent, should we advance. 2) The rivalry between fans would be vicious fun again, even if it isn't there for most of the players. 3) I like some of their players these days, certainly more than most of the Wild, anyway. Sakic in particular is an easy man to root for, and we won't have many more chances to see him in the post season. 4) My hatred of Foppa has cooled to a luke-warm indifference, and I have to admit I gained some respect for him when he refused to come to the Wings. 5) I hate Adam Foote and Theodore and would love the chance to bury them.

IMO, there is no way that they pull Jiggy. He's their number one goalie, and, while he's played his role in their losses, he's hardly the only party culpable. Now, if he gives up any softies and they find themselves down early in game three, then I think it's time to send in the reserves.

I couldn't agree more. I stated in an earlier thread that I want to face all the top teams en route to the cup so there can be no question about who the best is. That said, I'm torn on who to root for in this series, honestly. I'd love to see Anaheim get embarrassed in the first round, as I absolutely hate that team. But I'm also not a huge fan of Dallas, and would love the chance to see the Wings deliver some hands on revenge for last year themselves. I definitely respect the Dallas fans more (Duck Guy excluded ), and their team has a number of classy individuals on it, so I suppose they get the reserved nod. Either way, I don't think this series is over. I predict a game 3 victory for Anaheim, and from there, who knows? I'm guessing Dallas manages to seal the deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if they suffered another implosion, especially to a team that knows how to (usually) win tight games in the playoffs.
-
Agreed on the first period, but by the third, they couldn't stop talking about how deflated their bench was. Aside from some play by play snafus, I really didn't have much of a problem with the commentary.

Well put. Barring a change in rules that allows two Eastern Conference teams to play for the cup, we're their number one for the Western slot in the eyes of NHL brass. I think, in order, they'd like to see these matchups: 1) Wings / Rangers (biggest out of market team versus the biggest market team = ratings. The original 6 thing doesn't hurt) 2) Wings / Montreal (arguably the two most storied franchises in hockey, and two solid markets in two countries) 3) Wings / Pens (Crosby, Malkin, duh) 4 - 12) Replace Wings with, in order, Dallas (great market), Anaheim (decent market, but Cup Champs angle), Colorado (good market and national recognition both for the team and their stars) 13 - 16) West / Caps (AO, AO, AO...and a great David and Goliath story. The only reason I can see them rooting against this, assuming it was even possible (which it isn't, given the Caps talentpool) is that any Western team would sweep them like grandma's kitchen) I might be willing to swap 2 and 3, but I think the number 1 slot is a lock. Every major sport gets wood when a New York team makes the finals.

What did I miss? I'm assuming something was said in the postgame interviews?

I dunno, guys. That Z-D-Franzen line gave these fellows a run for their money while they were together Was great to see Dats throwing the body a little today! Always an unexpected treat. Think this hurts his Byng aspirations? hehe...

I can appreciate the sentiment, but I'll take a goal over a fight or big hit any day of the week. Awesome photos, btw -- the smile on Lidstrom's face is incredible! Edit: Looking at the photos again, notice all the old timers are the one's cheering the most...Lids, Homer, Drake. Everyone else is obviously happy, but great to see those who can appreciate what a great moment that was for Mac cheering the hardest. Brings a smile to my hockey heart.
