can't find it anywhere, can you provide a link?

the only thing nice about all these signings is that they won't be playing on the wings. why sign a guy who is going to be a healthy scratch for 2/3 of the year.

Canadiens offer Qualifying Offers The article states that in order for a team to receive compensation for one of their RFAs if they sign another team's offer sheet they must atleast give the player a 1 year qualifying offer by June 25th. As far as I know Filppula, or any of the other Wings RFAs have not recieved any type of offer. Would this mean that if he accepts another team's offer the Wings will not get anything for him?? Could someone with a little more knowledge on the rule enlighten me. Why would the wings take such a risk, or could they just be thoroughly confident that Flip is going to sign with them regardless. One other question...if a team makes an offer sheet, does Detroit have to match it regardless of whether Flip is willing to take a lesser salary from us?

Canadiens hand out qualifying offers to 6 players.

Oh, ok, that was how I interpreted the CBA... I just was not aware that he had been extended a qualifying offer. -

thanks for the clarification edit: I can definetely see Corey Perry getting an offer sheet thrown his way. If I was in Anaheim's division I would, considering they will probably be willing to overpay to keep him after what happened with Penner last year. Drive up his price and they have less room for other players .... but that could backfire and you could get stuck with him and lose a few big draft picks :s -

page 30 section II...it seems pretty clear now that I read it again that the Wings would not at this point get any compensation for flip if he were to accept an offer sheet from another team. -

even if they have not made a qualifying offer by June 25th? All this stuff confuses me. I tried reading the rules but even my university degree in english could not crack all that legal mumbo jumbo. -

that is good to know edit: p.s what is that in your avatar? Kegs?!?!? mmm beer. -
Me too. I don't think we will get either though . Kenny is gonna pick up a depth player, most likely someone like Drake, but with some more offensive ability. Likely around the $1.5 million mark.

I would seriously make a move for him if we weren't already one of the best defensive teams in the league. Bringing him in would give us 4 defensemen who could possibly be a number 1 or number 2 on every team in the league. There will be another team who will pay him the big bucks though, so oh well. edit: so why does he want to leave anyways, is this at all a credible source, or is the writer just guessing? It wouldn't surprise me, especially if the writer is Canadian. A lot of Canadian writers are very naive to think that it is the dream of eveyr young player to come play for one of their beloved Canadian teams. p.s I am Canadian myself and a lot of the biased writing still seriously annoys me.

I heard he gives a mean back rub.

Lecavalier to sign new 9-year, $77-million deal
stud_defenseman replied to Systemfel's topic in General
Good move by Tampa. This guy has been consistently one of the best players in the league every year. This will pretty much ensure that his name gets retired in Tampa bar some sort of disaster. I imagine this will bring up Zetterberg's salary. I doubt he will sign for such a long period though, im thinking max 7 years, but he will bring in a bit more money than Pav now. I'm guessing somewhere around 6 years 48 million for Z. Any lower than 45 million for the same term would be expecting him to be taking a big discount. Buuuut, I guess you also need to take into account the fact that he is not the healthiest player so who knows. -
Put Ryder on with Cleary for a Newf line!!
-
ya, I know Downey sucks, but for the 1.2 million georges was payed last year he should be scoring more than 13 points and should be playing all the time. I would rather have one of our young guys in and then throw Downey out there in certain situations. There is no risk when you are paying someone close to the league minimum.
-
He isn't even a fighter, he's a scrapper.
-
Keep in mind that Laraque made almost twice as much money as Downey did this year. When you are paying that much for a player you would like to have him in there all the time. I would rather sign Downey for 600,000, only play him 1/3 or 1/2 th games and give the rest of his time to a younger player. I don't think Laraque quite has the skill to be an every day kinda player.

It has been said that Stuart's step-children are not allowed to move out of the state or their mother could lose custody, not sure if anyone can do much about that....however, I am not sure if this is true. If it was it would sure make Stuart look a little sketchy with all his comments about wanting to come back to detroit. It seems he never intended this in the first place.

haha, well actually it does. Winning the Stanley Cup does make the Wings better than everyone else at the moment. So, regardless of how "well articulated" your argument is, you cannot fault their style of play as it is at the moment the winning strategy. Being the team with the fewest fights is not embarrassing, losing is.

I'd take him for cheap. He had an off year last year, but the year before he was great. He can hit, he can can score, he is an agitator, and he will drop the gloves (usually with wimps though). He scores a ton of pp goals. He needs to work on his defence though
-
To be honest, I am not sure why everyone is so interested in this topic. There is no way the wings will offer enough to hossa to get the deal done. We have done well because we have found players who want to play for this organization and will accept a slightly lower pay to do so. Once flip, franzen get their new contracts they will need some of that money. Two seasons from now I would bet that Flip, Franzen's and Cleary's contracts combined wouldn't be much more than Hossa's alone. Which would you rather have? I would certainly take an entire second line over one guy. Edit: Offer sundin a big contract for one year. Let him go after that. No loss to us.
-
unless huds improves his defensive play he will not be making near 3 mill a year... who knows where he will be at this time next season though. I am expecting a big year out of him and flip. Lets just hope that everyone doesn't dump all over huds halfway through the season when he doesn't continue his scoring ways.

Ryder had a great rookie year, then steadily declined into mediocrity. I'm pretty sure he was even a healthy scratch in the playoffs. I don't think he has turned his act around as of yet, maybe when his career is pretty much washed up we will offer him a tryout like cleary. Until then I wouldn't touch him.
-
omg, look at the gut on him. I know a lot of players take it easy in the offseason, but c'mon. He needs to lose like 20 pounds of fat before he can expect to become a successful player.

Give a little explanation to what guided your decision. I would have to say Darren Helm. He is fast, he can throw the body around, has more offensive potential than the group, and is also a good faceoff man.
