    Free Agency Next Year

Whoa, one minute everyone hates hudler and the next someone has TWO of them in the lineup. I would assume that the second hudler you have in there is going to be filppula, I can't see the Wings letting him go yet, he still has lots of time to grow. If we do sign Stuart, which is a possibility I can't see any reason why we would have to sign another Dman... TBH I can't see us going out to get a Dman even if we don't sign Suart, we have way too much talent in our system. I wouldn't be surprised if Ericsson starts seeing regular time. Meech and Quincey are more than enough to make up for injuries. And don't forget about Brunnstrom, I have a really good feeling that he will sign here. That would be the best solution I think because it would cost us absolutely nothing except the entry level contract. We won't have to go out and pay a guy like prospal $4 million a year. A little too expensive for the most inconsistent player in the league. One year he will get 70 pts, the next he gets 40, its become quite the pattern. I can't even begin to think of a forward lineup because who knows what will happen with Drake, Downey, Sammy, but TBH if the lineup was exactly the same as right now I would not mind at all. The defence is pretty easy for me though... lidstrom - rafalski stuart - kronwall chelios - ericsson let lilja walk, he probably wants upwards of 1.5 million which he is not going to get, and trade lebda for low draft pick. That leaves guys like Meech and Quincey to make up some time here and there. Well, actually who knows what cheli will do he may retire for all I know. Edit: Prospal's stats: 07/08 - 71 pts 06/07 - 55 pts 05/06 - 80 pts 03/04 - 54 pts 02/03 - 79 pts 01/02 - 55 pts maybe I exagerated a bit, but I still don't want to pay someone $4 million a year for 50 points. Sounds very Todd Bertuzzish to me. Am I wrong in thinking that he will make that much? Keep in mind that he is due for another crappy season.

Game 4 blowout to lure Brunnstrom?

That all depends on the stipulations of the bonuses. They will likely be a combination of performance and number of games played. If Brunnstrom spends a significant portion of the season in the minors he wont hit his bonuses. I highly doubt there will be any GMs who will just hand over the bonus without any guarantee on the number of games played or points he gets. So, it is in the best interest of the agent to get a guarentee from the team that he will play a certain number of games ang get top 6 minutes.

    "Feed the Mule!" Shirts

I just ordered mine! It better get here while the playoffs are still going. How long do you typically think it would take to get to Oshawa, Ontario. It's not far from Toronto. Where are the shirts being shipped from? Those damn Posties better get that thing over here lickety split.

Game 4 blowout to lure Brunnstrom?

Someone here on LGW mentioned that Brunnstrom admitted he may not be as ready for the NHL as his agent is professing. In all likelyhood I wouldn't be surprisd if this is a case of some money grubbing agent trying to talk this kid into making some poor decisions. After watching Detroit dominate last night maybe he is realizing that he may not have the skill to perform at the level his agent is suggesting. Just looking at Franzenstein shows you how you gain success by working your way up (he wasn't drafted until the age of 25). He may want to sign with Detroit just for the fact that so many young players as of late have become successful in our system. If anyone has a source on what brunnstrom said, please list a source, I would like to see it for myself.

ya, I admit it does seem a bit high, but considering that he only starting going in the last month and change, and he still endd up with 27 goals, I think there certainly could be room for some improvement. On the other hand this could be a fluke, but a 26 game fluke does not seem likley to me. At the minimum I think he will finish with 30 goals, which would certainly be good.

    A nice little experiment here...

The entire Avs squad took a mule cock up the ass in this one. It was a medieval beastial ass raping of epic proportions.

    Out of town wings fans!

I've been a Wing's fan for over a decade now, previously being a Leafs fan (not by choice, just by geography), and I was always harrassed by my father and his friends. they would always ask him "what did you do, drop the kid on his head?"... but in the last 5 years or so it seems that the criticism has pretty much stopped. my father now will not even watch the leafs, and his friends for the most part just ask where they can get a Wings jersey

    Kronwall and Rafalski

I am also a little unsure of how holmstrom has been playing lately. Franzen is obviously playing much better at the moment, and deserves a spot on the top line, however, the fact that he is continually scoring on the second line should keep them apart as it balances out the scoring. What I would like to see is Franzen always starting the powerplay rather than Homer. Its seems that Babcock has almost got too comfortable with Homer, as there has not been another player this year who has stepped up to such a degree to replace him on the top line and PP.... possibly Dan Cleary before he got hurt.

Sundin getting married - Hints at retirement

I read a quote that was either fromCLiff Fletcher or Paul Maurice (sorry no source), but which ever one of them said that this would be the worst time for Sundin to leave. Regardless of whether or not they want a fresh start with younger players, Mats is the only stable, experienced leader in that dressing room. He is necessary to help some of these younger guys like Steen ad Stajan grow into leaders. And why not would you want a guy on your team that is going to get 70-80 points in season while doing so for roughly 5 - 5.5 mill a year. Its a no brainer, if he wants to stay, pay the man his money.

    Out of town wings fans!

I went to a game in Buffalo wearing my Datsyuk jersey this year and it was for the most part pretty civil. I was however accosted by one man with a long pony tail and missing teeth who thought it was extremely clever to call me Datsuck. I think he said "Hey Datsuck, Go Sabres!"...I pretty much just laugh it off when that stuff like that happens, but if people want to get really critical I will whip out so many stats about how great the wings are and how terrble their team is that it will make their head spin.

    Datsyuk's Personality Emerges

I would be a little hesitant in calling someone an "absolute ****** bag" only after running into them briefly. I don't know his personality at all, but maybe he was just having a bad day.

    Eklund's Top Free Agents

I would love to have ryan malone, but he is going to command atleast 3.5 a year for 3 or 4 years, im not sure if we can afford that with signing hank and franzen next summer as they will both get significant raises.

there are about 5 or 6 that I don't even recognize, and another 5 or 6 whose names I recognize but I could not tell you who the hell they have ever played for.

    Eklund's Top Free Agents

This is what Detroit needs to do... trade sammy in the offseason to chicago or anaheim (they always pick up our leftovers) for a 3rd round draft pick. Offer Sundin a nice big one-year contract...win the cup. I am still upset that he wouldn't wave his no-trade clause before the trade deadline, IMO I think he would be the perfect player for the Wings. I live near Toronto so I watch a lot of Leaf hockey too, and he is just the type of center we need. Strong on the puck behind the net, hard to knock down, and has an awesome shot. Franzen's first goal of his hattrick, the backhand top shelf, reminded me of many of the goals I have seen Sundin score; in general they have quite a similar dynamic. We can only hope that Franzen turns into that kind of player. No offence to Sammy by the way, his play is not all that terrible, but to bring in Sundin they would have to free up a roster spot, and a bit of salary. I would not want to take the spot away from one of our younger players who are only getting better. I'm pretty sure Sammy will not get any better at this point.

its amazing to see how many terrible goalies there are floating around in this league. Who the hell are half those guys?!? Oh ya, and Ryan Malone > Kristian Huseless

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...

Even though both Anaheim and SJ sucked, there has to be something about this Dallas team that got them this far. I don't care if it was Phoenix who made the playoffs and beat these two teams, if they got through those two I think they certainly have a chance at beating us. We can't let up at all. I can just see the headlines if we get to the cup finals and beat out a team like Philly. We would get no credit for beating Nashville, Colorado, Dallas and Philly as at the begining of the playoffs these were not thought to be the strongest teams, but as I said before you have to win to get here, so how bad can they really be?

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...

I can't go with Dallas because San Jose just looks so unbelievably unimpressive. Detroit and Pittsburgh are pretty close, but I'll have to go with Pittsburgh because I initially thought New york would take them 7 games or even beat them. I knew the Redwings would rape the avs with a big black rubber fist, so a sweep is not really a surprise for me. Who would have expected that Detroit would make it to the conference finals without having to play SJ or ANA?
