You don't have to win the Stanley Cup to be a winner - sorry if you disagree. Yes, the Stanley Cup is what you dream of your whole life but Detroit is the superior franchise with more history, memories, real fans, success, sportsmanship and class. Hossa is still a winner. And he's right. Staying on Pittsburgh might've changed everything. I still want him to hang around because I truly believe we'll be back next year and he'll play a large role in it when we win.

I can hardly wait. I just am pumped for them playing other teams again. Like the Leafs. Nothing more fun than losing to the Leafs. I don't see why we can't make another playoff run. I know the odds are low but the team is the same just a year maturer and a year angrier.

Look on the bright side - The Tigers beat the Pirates 3-1 today. You know what that means? World Series Champs 2009? It's inevitable. Edit - Not to mention it was on the road.

I agree. It's not the loss that sucks - it's the circumstances of the loss that sucks. Debating on what would've been better... losing to Anaheim in the WCSF or losing to Pittsburgh in the SCF. Not gonna lie; I'm feeling Anaheim.

I guess you're right. We should've played Chelios!!!!

Right... I forgot Stuart was the reason we only scored one goal.

Who Else Thought Lidstrom Was Going to Score At the End?

That's how I looked at it too. No goal reaction so I peaced out and dove into my friends pool. I was thinking dying of a mixture of hypothermia and drowning simultaneously would've been perfect. -
Who Else Thought Lidstrom Was Going to Score At the End?

I hate talking about things that could have been, but yes. I feel like he let us down by missing, even though it wasn't just him. Poor man, probably is killing himself right now. -
I just wish Kronwall didn't hit the crossbar, or that Lidstrom could've tied it in the last second. Neither happened. s*** happens.

If we keep Hossa I PROMISE you he will be a thousand times better next year - with the absence of the immense amount of pressure.

I'm still alive. Haven't cried either. In fact there was a higher chance of me crying if we won than lost. Life goes on ... ahhh how I wish it was that easy. It's not the loss that sucks - just the circumstances. I'm alright. Next year.
-
Gotta hand it to the Pens. As much as I don't like some things about them they played with heart and pulled it off. Congratulations. See you next year bud.

WE'LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR.

I have faith in Hossa - no pressure to him.

Thank you Red Wings... for consistently being a great team. Thank you Chris Osgood for saving our asses more than once. Now, win yourselves the cup.

I don't make threads but this is my seconds today. Anyway, my friend heard this on 955 and sent it to me. It's all audio but it's a pretty good listen and builds up excitement. I suppose it gets you a little emotional too so I just thought I'd share. Listen away. It's kind of upbeat... sorry if you're old - fashioned. They brought in some of the Motown sound.

God help me if this is what happens. I'll take the double OT win over the regulation loss, but I'll probably be dead by the time the Wings score in 2OT. Just finish the Pens off in the third please sweet Jesus.
-
That's a good one... this one gave me the chills as well:
-
I can't help but feel Pittsburgh will score first, and then Detroit will rally.
-
It's okay... I thought of making a thread like this myself. Glad somebody else did. Win it for the fans who don't want to be harassed by Leafs fans pretending to be Pens fans for the next 365 days. Other than that, I think you covered it.

I like the dog part.

Babcock says, "win it for Detroit." It's true. I live in Windsor, Ontario and everyone seems to be going for the Pens right now because the majority of the people here are Leafs fans. (Most of these people think the Wings will win, but they're going for Pittsburgh - works for me.) But they're also saying that the Pens and their fans deserve the Cup way more than Detroit considering all that they've gone through these past years; how Detroit has won multiple cups recently, while Pittsburgh hasn't won in 17 years; how a couple of months ago Pittsburgh wasn't even considered a Cup contender, and here they are playing in the finals and fighting hard; how Detroit has been the favourite to win throughout and now Pittsburgh has pushed game seven. But I think that's bulls***. Don't get me wrong - Pittsburgh definitely deserves the Stanley Cup eventually, but just not against Detroit this year. If they were playing against any other team I would probably go for them - even though I don't like the Pens - because I am a reasonable person who wants the team who faces adversity to win 9 out of 10 times. But here is a chance to bring Detroit together. The city of Detroit needs something to live by with this disgusting economy and a win can only add life. I love seeing the red and white stream the streets of Detroit. It's amazing. Not to mention our fans, in my opinion, deserve it more because most of our fans are REAL fans, with REAL hardships - and a lot of them too. Sorry to say it but even you Pens fans have to admit that a lot of your fans are teenage girls who are in love with Crosby or others who don't know much about hockey - and I know those of you who will admit it probably are annoyed by it as well. Pittsburgh has their championship this year with the Steelers. Good. We have the lions, a team who has won one playoff game in Superbowl history or something like that. The Tigers who had their first epic run/chance to win in twenty years stripped away from them by the Cardinals, and finally the Pistons who traded away the face of their franchise only to become a dying team. Detroit deserves this one - think about it. The Detroit Shock just don't cut it. We need this. Go red, go white. and the article: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=425383
