meech and kopecky have both been sloppy lately. though i guess meech won't get better if they don't give him experience. either way, glad to see mac back

thats terrible. they probably rushed to print them as soon as hossa signed and totally forgot that maltby wears 18 ( he's not the most notable hockey player in the league). way to go nhl! thats like ordering a dvd and getting sent the vhs version...u still got the movie right? incredible.

we've been sloppy the first few games. last night was the first time that (for parts of the game at least) the wings really showed some of their old looks. there was some good puck possesion at times but these def turnovers gotta stop. conklin made a few absolutely amazing saves last night and the third goal was a bad bounce (thats hockey). I cannot stand getting beat by guys coming out of the penalty box (2nd goal last night) though. That seems to happen to the wings a lot over the past few seasons. THey'll get better as they continue to gel. hossa and dats made some sweet passes last night.

NEVER EVER!!!! first of all, crosby looks like a baby where as z looks like a grizzly bear and dats just looks interesting. 2nd - crosby can be easily understood during interviews, where as z has his great swedish accent, and pav just sounds interesting 3rd - crosby lost to the twins ie he can't contribute what they do 4th - crosby sleeps with a bettman doll at night, pav and z sleep with their women 5th - z and pav are both excellent at playing 2 way hockey, they go out and do their job everynight and don't ***** and moan to the press basically z and p are sweet, crosby while very good player, just isn;t red wings material

those prices are bogus. do you really think all those people who went to the game last year paid 250+ ? uh...NO! im sure there will be lots of tickets available for this thing. afterall, its on new years day so tons of people will be staying home to watch football anyways.

cheli kick ass and was great during the playoffs. cheli had the same number of points as kopecky did last season (12) and did it in 8 less games. erickson didn't do jack when he came up. sammy (as much as we all can't stand him) had 40 points last year, tied with homer for sixth overall hudler had 42 points last season tied for 5th overall with cleary. if you eliminate lids and raf from the points and look at just forwards you get: dats:97 z: 92 Cleary and Hudler: 42 Homer and Sammy: 40 franzen: 38 Filpula:36 draper:17 and it drops from there. WHY WOULD YOU TRADE 2 OF OUR TOP POINT PRODUCERS?! DUMB! glad ur not in charge of the wings

kopecky just isnt worth it. yes he's big but franzen is huge too and much better thus there isnt much need for kopecky. he had his chance last year and was unimpressive. helm is much more ready. there is also that finnish guy who is expected to compete for a spot in the line up. i have to say d-mac is worth more than downey b/c mac at least has an outside chance of scoring. i like downey but there is no worth beyond the fists. i have a feeling we will see a lot of different 4th line combos. as for huds, i'd like to see him on the 3rd line instead of sammy. huds can't have a breakout season if he's stuck on the 4th line with maltby. hopefully he'll see some pp time and then if he can't cut it he'll have to go. sammy i have to be nice to until he begins to screw up again, b/c he was huge in the finals.

the problem is getting the enforcer into the line up. There are about 15 skilled forwards available and 2 guys who can pretty much only fight. and our d guys aren't really fighters.

trade sammy for a draft pick or something; put hudler on the 3rd line and throw downey or mac on the 4th

i don't believe that we're totally out of the running for sundin. he is the perfect fit for a one year deal and leaving with no issues in 09. i guess that kinda leans on the wings winning the cup in 09 but they are essentially the same team as least season. they had the best record in the league without stuart playing as our #4 d-man. the goalie situation appears fine. it is also interesting to look at the young forwards whowe have, helm, that finnish kid (sorry i can't think of the name and am too lazy to look it up). unless sundin is out for a payday, the wings are the best option. if he doesn't care about a cup, and wants 10 mil, then by all means let him go play in vancouver. hell by going there he can make his april tee times at his favorite golf course a year in advance.

mixed feelings about bringing him back. i wouldn't want to give him more than a one year contract, but i'd take him if we cant get any of the big names. i gotta say the wings seem like the best option for sundin. we can give him a big one year contract, then let him retire with a cup, and resign z and mule to big contracts. he'd be great on the second line

didn't see this one coming. not a bad move though. def makes the leafs a more solid team. they've been pretty quiet today though, for a team that could use a couple playmakers.

as much as the guy bugs me, i believe the rangers decided not to sign sean avery. avery fights well, ticks people off, and actually has some goal scoring ability.

saw the cup at the capital today. waited 1.5 hours. totally worth it!!!! amazing!

they have next year basically to take one more shot at the cup. there are too many good up and coming players on that team that other teams will be willing to offer a lot of money for. they will probley resign hossa, but honestly if malkin hadn't disappeared in the playoffs they wouldnt have needed hossa. the wings are much better structured to survive in this cap era. it all comes down to how much the players want that chance to win and what they are willing to sacrafice to get it. I see guys like fleury and malkin selling out. there are plenty of western confernce teams that would love to pick up a goalie like fleury so that they can compete with all the great goalies in the west. and malkin could easily net a huge salary elsewhere. crosby will have to be able to convince these guys that there is something worth sticking around for. honestly i think this team will be nearly completly broken up over the next two seasons.

wings win 4-1. pens got some good bounces in game 3. osgood was spectacular in games 1 and 2 and played ok in game 3. The wings need to keep doing what they've been doing, controling the puck and forcing the pit forwards off the puck as they bring it into the zone. pens can't keep up with detroits style of of play and must resort to complaining about the refs. dats, cleary, Z and the mule score!
