Where do you want the next Winter Classic be?
miller76 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Phoenix. Lets see them pull that off. Anyone can make ice in NY and Chicago. You want to impress me, do it in Phoenix! -
Here's to a good solid 60 minutes of play, and another two points. Wings win: 3 - 1 Rafalski (1) Datsyuk (1) Franzen (1) Malhotra (1)

I am guessing the team doesn't do a whole lot. Atleast I am hoping they don't. And maybe this will be the year that everyone will stop with the idea of getting rid of Hudler. This year it sounds as if Flip and Kope are the step-children around here. I don't think Kope goes anywhere. I think Babs and the team like his aggressive physical play, and aren't depending on him scoring goals. That would make sense thus far. Flip is expensive, but I still believe he is a diamond in the rough. He will come around sooner or later.

Hey! You can't talk about the face of the nhl like that!

I think that idea is cool for a fantasy, but here back on earth, it's probably not a sensible idea. And I doubt that a new arena with a hefty price tag is on the top of the list, while the economy is so poor in the local area. Lots of empty seats = less revenue. I have always been in favor of a renivation of the Joe. The worst thing about the Joe is the single concourse. Though there are other improvements that can be made like the parking, and the troths.

Minnesota will be definetly shopping him before the deadline, like a top priority now. He is a turd. He isn't worth the money he thinks he is. Somebody with a little cap room at the deadline will pick him up, and he will be a playoff bust as usual.

I think it's joke like everyone else here. If this stupid exhibition where everyone pulls a groin or sprains an ankle, wasn't a complete popularity contest, I may watch. But I refuse to watch players that are there by populararity only. Especially the Montreal players that wouldn't be there except for this centenial bulls***. I am always paranoid of the thought of Lids, Dats or Z getting hurt in that game. This will be good. Montreal can have the all-star game this year, and Detroit can have the Cup again.

Maybe on their division, as weak as it is. But I really have my doubts about what they are capable of with a player that has been totally over-hyped, and hasn't played for quite a while now. I think Vancouver makes the playoffs with an early exit, dropping to the likes of a team like Calgary.

Lets do this. These two points are just as important as the last two.
-
The second period just ended, and its 4-4. The goaltending is horrible on both sides. Parros dropped the gloves with Cote for a pretty lengthy fight. Then just 8 seconds later Montador and Gratton dropped them. Pronger then took a penalty, and it was standing room only in the Anaheim penalty box. Its your typical Flyers, Ducks thug hockey at its best. It's too bad both these teams can't lose!
-
Getzlaf really screwed that one up. Ducks typical shootout. They dont typically fair to well in them.

nevermind

Ha ha f-u Perry! I hate that s.o.b.

the referees are having arm/shoulder cramps, from holding their arm up all night already! lol

Listening to xm today, and like the last couple of weeks. A lot of the guys still feel like Detroit is the best team in the league. They like to call the Wings "slightly bored" during midseason, and "saving their gas". 1. Detroit 2. SJ 3. Vancouver 4. Chicago 5. Anaheim 6. Nashville 7. Calgary 8. Phoenix squeeks it out just passed Minnesota and Columbus.
-
Living in the Ducks market, I am forced to listen to these ducks announcers, who are complete homers 24/7. And about the elbow penalty. I thought he got his jaw broke by that jarring hit. Oh look more penalties. Roughing for Pronger. Big surprise there.

We always meet up before each game. There is actually a group called Red Wings Nation West, headed up by vladdyIbelieve16. If you go the the Group Events pages of LGW, you will usually see a thread talking about the game and who will attend a few days before the game. We typically meet around the Wings tunnel during the warm-up.

I would highly doubt Detroit will be involved in any Winter Classics for years to come. If the league decides to continue with this tradition, I see them spreading the love to other clubs. I could see the league doing an outdoor game at Shea or the Meadowlands including the Rangers. I could also see a game played in the Boston area, including the Bruins. Hell they could do a game with the Caps in DC. I think the next teams to be selected for upcoming outdoor games could be Boston, NYR, Philly, Washington, and Montreal. This is all just my opinion.

Certain owners will fight that type of policy, when given the chance. Even the guy who runs icethetics, the jersey guy said, dont look for a third jersey for Detroit anytime soon. Even though I do like the WC jersey enough to buy the authentic Lidstrom one. Its a badass jersey.

GDT 2009 Winter Classic: Red Wings 6, Blackhawks 4
miller76 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
I definetly thought Hudler was the best player out there today. I thought Lids looked a little off with the errant passing earlier on. But overall a 5 unanswered goal surge was spectacular. Wish I was there.- 1,043 replies

The Ducks announcers especially annoy me. The color comentator Brian Hayward is the biggest homer I have ever come across. Note: And if you are watching the Rose Parade this morning, your listening to John Ahlers. Who happens to be the Ducks play by play guy. yay! There is just no escaping the Ducks crap 24/7 here.
-
I dont really mind 'Doc', I like listening to him. At least this game we dont have to listen to him have a coronary everytime someone rings one off the goalpost. I have others that I like to listen too as well, but Olzyck is not one of them. He is incompetent and a slappy for Chicago.
-
I would just rather him never be a Wing. This organization is too classy to have some ******* talentless chicken, who skates in circles with his head cutoff looking to take a cheap shot at a skilled player. I put him in the same class as a Sean Avery, Ryan Hollweg, and Chris Simon. I am totally for good clean hits and physical hockey, like the Wings/Hawks game lastnight. I just diasagree with their style of play.

Not to sound too much like a homer, but the Z goal was better than the Toews goal. Nash had the best goal imo for the year, followed by Zetterbergs blind spinnerama!
