    Broncos coach Shanahan out

With the limited sucess in the last ten years, it was indeed long over due. But he just seemed to be a fixture in that organization that I never thought would leave. I am guessing if he does decide to take another coaching job, he takes the NY Jets job. And I am guessing Bill Cowher returns and goes to Denver. Okay maybe this is just wishfull thinking on my part.

    Canucks acquire LaBarbera

That team is such a waste. But as far as LA is concerned, there is only one basketball team. Sometimes the Laker talk, and crap makes you want to vomit purple and gold here. :puke: :flush:

    Canucks acquire LaBarbera

yes and no. yes I did forget about the Clippers, and second we don't recognize them as a sports team here very often. You have to win from time to time. lol

    Canucks acquire LaBarbera

And the inability to keep a goaltender in net goes on in LA. That franchise is a joke, and the laughing stock of LA's major sports teams. And I would have to agree, that this looks like a move to cover for Luongo longer term. He must be really hurt, for them to make a big move. Vancouver scored then, if they only gave up a seventh rounder.

    chelios and winter classic

I want the best players to dress and be on the ice. This game carries the same weight as any other division game. This team needs 2 points on New Years Day.

    Selanne out 4-6 weeks

I actually saw this game the other night. He kind of went hard into the boards with the Edmonton defender. He ended up cutting his quad muscle with his own skate. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=399478 I dont typically take joy in any injury to a player. But as the leading goal getter with 14, and a solid leader on that team, I wonder if we see the Ducks lose a little ground. The west is going to be tight again. Edit: Here is the injury from youtube. It's a little long of a clip, but it shows you pretty much everything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj7mPj0EKw0

    Should skilled players be fighting?

I was listening to xm's nhl home ice today, and reading the story on tsn today about Columbus Blue Jacket Derick Brassard. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=260585&lid...s=secStory_main Brassard, who is one of Columbus's top young talent on the team this year, and their first selection of the 2006 draft. Who is actually one of the few bright pieces of the 14-15-4 team. Is out for the season. Due to an injury from fighting. I hate to bring up anything enforcer related, because it's so over done here sometimes. But I would be a little pissed off if Z or Datsyuk got in a stupid fight, and ended up with a season ending injury. Possibly changing the desired outcome. Should every player that plays hockey be prepared to fight in this league, cause it's part of the job? Or should the league try and deter the fighting with longer, more severe penalties? This was discussed this morning on xm.

    Good Lord Chicago

I have been thinking about this since last season, as the Wings had their issues with the Hawks. They are really good. And the way the Wings are playing up and down, and the goals allowed. I am just hoping we have an up game at the Winter Classic, and not embarass ourselves.

do hall of famers normaly have their numbers retired?

I actually think about this a lot. Datsyuk and Z have a lot of years and work cut out for them. I know they are great. But are they Sawchuk great? Or Production Line great? Yzerman? I know Lids will have his number 5 hanging there someday, cause he is arguably the best D man to play the game. I take pride in the Red Wings having only 6 guys up there compared to dozens like Toronto and Montreal. Its a ridiculous joke at how many numbers that are retired or honored, or out of circulation for them. But its nice to know that the amount of players/numbers retired has absolutely no bearing on the talent the Detroit teams have bred and showcased for decades.

Bettman: Oilers need a new arena

I have mixed feelings of the Joe. The same concourse pretty much sucks for intermissions and after the game. Too many damn people using the same space. That, and I have never been fond of pissing in a troth! lol. But the history of the good years and great games played there, along with the banners and retired numbers hanging from he rafters make it special. A lack of major corporate backing thrown in your face every opportunity is nice. I really cant see a new arena or even a renovation of sorts to the Joe, until something gives in this economy, and things start to show stability and improvement. But I have been to Rexall Place. And I would say if there was a list of teams that were in need of an arena, the Oilers are right up there.

    Wheeler's goal

Talk about being embarassed in your own building.
  14. I have always been a fan of Ozzie, whether he was a Wing or something else. But this outdoor game still counts for two points, its a real game. The hotter, healthier goaltender needs to be in there.

I wonder what is going on with Shanny

Bob McKenzie talked about an hour ago on xm about Shanny. He said there were multiple contracts prepared and ready to be signed by teams in the west. But a western team was real low on a possibility for a fit for him. He doesn't want the hard travel. He said this could have been done a month ago. And Shanny is going to play where he wants to. But the freezing of the rosters this Friday, and the Sundin situation taking priority with multiple intrested clubs in the east, will probably halt any type of deal being made until the trade deadline comes around next spring. Unless there is a possiblity of getting a quick one done in the next 24 hours.

I wonder what is going on with Shanny

When this topic is brought up on nhl home ice shows on xm, they pretty much talk about Shanny and a lost season for him. It has been widely reported there that the Rangers have no intention in signing him. I am sure the Sundin saga has something to do with all this. Even though there are a handfull of teams that are interested, he is very picky, due to where him and his family live. They want to remain in the NY area. Last I heard there was a deal with Philly in place, and all was left was to sign. Then everything went cold, and nothing.

What do you do with a struggling goaltender?

Not exactly a good night to start this thread. lol. Of course everyone is pissed off tonight about the game. Especially being he pretty much sucked tonight, along with some of the guys in front of him. I honestly hope the braintrust of this organization can come up with some type of plan to get him back to the goaltender he was. s*** always works itself out, and will eventually change for the better. Fortunately, nights like this where there are no points scored are few, even though the team is not performing to their potential.

    12/15 GDT: Avalanche 3, Red Wings 2

Its only 2 goals. They will come back. Have some faith in your team!

McKenzie: Sundin likely to sign with VAN or NYR

It's too bad the Wings series of regular season games are already completed with the Canucks. Maybe we will see them/him in the playoffs. With the lack of cap room in NY, and the inability to make a deal to clear room for Sundin, and Vancouver selling the farm for him. Its hard to believe otherwise, that he wouldn't become a Canuck.

    12/15 GDT: Avalanche 3, Red Wings 2

nice gdt as usual. I am glad to see Ozzie is in net again. He needs more starts. Maybe get some consistency. Here's to 60 minutes and a win by more than one goal.

    trade hudler NOW

So this thread is just a spin off of a goalie thread. right? I mean were talking about trying to get another goalie here, and the team is going to trade away some good young talent! This sounds like a Brian Burke type of logic. I am sorry I totally disagree with the logic of trading away the likes of Hudler, Cleary, and Flip. So I am hearing the team needs to trade away the teams secondary scoring that has finally come around, after so much complaint of the first line carrying the load. This isn't and hasn't been a normal way of running this oraganization. I can't help but think Holland will try and keep every factor that contributes to this teams winning ways. So because of the GAA, with Osgood and Conklin, there is reason to go look for a goalie? Vokoun are you kidding? Who else out there, that is available would you trust more than Ozzie at this point? There is no reason to hit the panic button here. Just because this team is not at the top of the heap, doesn't mean they are not capable of winning it all. The Presidents Cup does nothing but take up space. It's a useless piece of metal. It only proves you were better/luckier through the regular season. Its just one more piece of added pressure to win it all.

    NHL referees

No I am saying, get a grip. It's the NHL. If you dont agree maybe you should listen to xm 204, where they interview Bill Daly regularly. Or listen to Bettmans show on Sunday afternoons. This is a constant subject beaten to death. Granted their going to tell you what they want to. But I am not making what I wrote up. Its constantly repeated by the league, the writers, and the broadcasters. But to come out and try and find proof here of a freakin conspiracy seems a little goofy. If you want proof of refs who are fixing games, watch the NBA.
