I really doubt any of the incidents that have involved the Cup lately were on purpose. Elliots comments weren't the most intelligent thing to come up with. This whole thing has everything to do with the marketing execs. out of touch with what sells. Def Leppard no longer sells. Someone in the nhl is probably tied in with their record label or their management of some sort. Who knows. But who the hell picked Def Leppard? It's 2008, not 1988.

Whats the deal with the diffrent camera views tonight with the Anaheim/Phx game. I am really diggin it. Anyone else noticing this?

I think it would be a good idea as well. It worked last year with good results.

hate the political crap in GD. But I have a confidential source, that said Bush is planning on pitching Lidstrom for a loan to help with a bailout! Somehow pics of Lids house got out!

I think setting the Cup up side down was horiffic for the nhl. But the other poster was right about kids s***ting in it, it falling off a bar, and stuff like that. I liked Def Leppard in the 80's, but they just flat out sucked the other night. If they wanted some rock n' roll, they should have had AC (effen) DC up there to promote their new cd. Plus they still rock and they put on such a good show. But then again Angus may have picked up the Cup and slammed it on the stage floor! Slamming it on the floor would be more entertaining then what we got.

so between thursday and friday, the Wings, Habs, Stars, Ducks, Hawks, and Caps all lose. Including Tampa, and Pittsburgh earlier on. Isn't it funny that these teams were pretty much the ones consistently talked about in the off season, excluding a few. just funny to me I guess. the wings will get it done tonight though.

my wife last year somehow aquired an autographed copy of '9' Gordie Howe's book. Its excellent. Great stories and photos.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go maybe even at the deadline.

I live out here in California, but on my commute home this evening, xm 204 was confirming players who were put on waivers, and players who were being sent down to their AHL affiliates. Cam Barker was said to be sent back down. But you are probably right, about a team that may have a goalie that goes down due to injury or flat out sucks. I always figured Ottawa or LA, the obvious places for him to be traded to.

damn I was pulling for Jiggy!

cbc is reporting that Chicago is going to retain Khabibulin after all. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2008...khabibulin.html

Sorry, it was more of a joke. I would expect him to go to a bottom feeder, most likely in the east. Atl and NYI would be probables.
-
Someone will pick him up. Maybe a reunion with Wilson in Toronto.
-
Terrible plan. Just this week, the Rangers, Senators, Lightning, and Penguins have received nearly a week between next games due to the fairness in allowing these players to re-adjust to the time differences, jet lag and so on.

Just saw this on TSN. Apparently this article was written three days ago already, but nobody has talked much about it. http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/darren_dreger/?id=...s-Darren_Dreger It's interesting, cause in the article there is a little speculation that if Savard starts losing a 4-5 game stretch, could he be replaced? They said no, but it makes you wonder. Stock piling a little braintrust in Chicago all of a sudden.

If your buying, get me a ticket too. I would love to make it out there for that game. But to answer your original question, I haven't heard anything yet about tickets for the game. The league or ticketmaster are slow though.

he has always sounded like a snake. I never heard about him paying any fine or prosecuted for anything. Maybe him and Samueli are buddies of some sort.

wow. I thought all this stuff was long gone. I thought the owners were there to stay and the predators were staying put as well. Bettman is still not going to allow them to move to Hamilton or wherever he was saying they would go.
-
No kidding. I never thought about that. He needs to get himself a job here in the west. He can have Andy Murrays in St.Louis. The guys on xm have been saying he is expected to win soon, or changes are inevitable.
-
Your right, he would be nuts to walk away. I highly doubt it would happen, but this guy is just a little unpredicatable. I am a little torn whether I would like to see Chicago stuck with him. Yes because they would have a lot of money going to two goaltenders, and it screws them! But I would like to see him go back to the east, so the Wings don't face him as much. He plays decent against Detroit.

Dedicated and dumb are two different things. This guy will make what Lidstrom makes or just a litle under. There is no way that Z takes million(s) less than his market value, just to be a 'team player' and 'good guy' to the organization. The good thing is that I believe that KH would move heaven and hell to re-sign Z. And that both sides will give a little to stay together.
-
I think this is a definite blow to their team. s*** happens though! Nobody was feeling sorry for the Wings last February when the team was banged up and and couldn't buy a win!

What you say may be true, but the info I have from the Hockey Chronicle is this: In 1933 the Detroit Falcons were purchased by Detroit businessman James Norris. In the early years of the century Mr Norris was a member of the Montreal AAA hockey club which sported a winged wheel on their sweaters and were also known as the Winged Wheelers. Mr Norris adopted the winged wheel as his team's logo, and also the colors, and named his new team the Red Wings. I dont think the Red Wings have much to do with the auto industry, but having a wheel on the logo would insinuate they may.

I would assume LA would pick him up as well. I do wonder though if we are actually going to see something similar to what he did in Phoenix sometime back, by holding out all season. Yes he is under contract and all, but this s.o.b is one of the most stubborn guys in the league.
