Did anyone watch the last game at the Joe when they played St.Louis? It was towards the tail end of the game, and it was evident that the Blues were going to lose. They were losing and they took a couple of penalties, and they played the Elton John song " And I guess thats why they call them the Blues." I spit up my Heineken all over my floor when that song came on, laughing!

I know there was a recent thread about this being at Wrigley, but it looks like Yankee Stadium is the front runner. Might as well go out in style on New Years Day with some monster ratings. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2008...er-classic.html Update 3-10-08 Check this link, the Islanders think they are in the mix http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7896146?MSNHPHMA

Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond were saying last wekend during the game against Buffalo that McCarty was a week away from his first appearance as Redwing. So I figured either Nashville on Saturday or Sunday in Columbus.

I am sure he is playing with some discomfort in his back. Injuries just don't heal themselves with constant stress on that area. Especially back injuries. Not to mention we are getting to the end of the season here, where everyone has some type of ailment that needs attention or a break from the day to day stress they endure. Z is human also.

From what I have heard from Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond the other day, they said that the most ideal matchup for the Wings would be3 Nashville, due to the proximity/travel time. I would have to agree. There's no reason to wear out the boys travelling in the first round. Personally I believe we face Vancouver, which wouldn't be all that bad.

I have pasted a new link about the Islanders thinking they are in the mix. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7896146?MSNHPHMA

I have always defended Franzen's play. I have always thought he had the skill, I just think he has had a lack of confidence and taking the reigns in crucial situations, as does Hudler. I think Huds is a talented player, he just needs more ice time, and to play with talented guys to boost his confidence and his ability to be a more complete player. After that, I believe he will be getting in the right place at the right time and score some goals for us.

Today I spent some time on NHL.com today looking at Stanley Cup history. I hadn't realized that there hasn't been an original six match-up in the finals since 1979. Montreal over the NY Rangers. I got to thinking that there is a very possible original six match-up this year. I whole heartedly believe in this Redwing team this year. I believe there is not a team in the league that can beat the Wings in a series. So I believe that there is a very good chance the Redwings could play Montreal for the cup this year. I know New Jersey, Carolina, and Pittsburgh are playing well right now, but I think I would prefer to get some type of rivalry back with an original six team. I think Montreal has the best shot. I also think that if there is a good amount of hype with a match-up like that, it would definetly be good for the game. I mean even people who do not follow hockey, know who the Redwings and Canadians are. Could you imagine if it were teams like the Thrashers and the Coyotes? The average guy isn't going to know that those are even hockey teams, unless they lived in Atlanta or Phoenix. I just believe the right match-up could really expose the game of hockey to others. Thoughts?

I know nobody wants a corporate name attached to a new arena, but I believe the days without them are almost over. Residents of these towns are not passing the local laws to foot the massive bill. It's a lot easier for Ilitch to use a big name like Little Caesars or a big name willing to step up. I do think they need to incorporate Yzerman or Hockeytown in the name of it.

ratings and advertisement dollars.

On FSN today, Ken Daniels said McCarty was a week away now. So I take it he wont be able to go against Dallas this week. I guess next Saturday vs Nashville or Sunday in Columbus? Has anything been verified yet?

As of tonight they have won 4 straight.

I am 31 years old, and I have been a Redwings fan since 1983. I grew up in southern California, and all we had back then were the Kings. But my father who was a Toronto native, his childhood friend was Brad Park. And for those who are not old enough on here to know, but Brad Park was a Redwing and a coach in the early eighties. He was originally drafted by the NY Rangers. He was a D-man. Anyway, after meeting him, and a father being influential on sports teams, the Detroit Redwings were the only pro team we acknowledged. (25 years)

I completely agree with you.

I don't wish injury on anyone, especially after what we have gone through, but if a trash talking little punk ass like Cory Perry gets hurt then oh well. He's a punk. I sat glass last year in Anaheim for the WCF games 3 and 4. For being a little punk, he has a big mouth on him.
