This off-season is pissing me off!!!!!
-
I would rather have Lang skating around on one Achilles!

I think if I was to receive a 4 year deal for work somewhere, I would probably settle in, buy a house, and let the kids make friends.
-
I was kind of hoping for this guy to be a Wing this year.
-
Sometimes I dont understand players like him wanting to hang around. He was good in his day, won the Norris, won the Cup. He should have retired with Drake last year and called it a career. Instead of looking for a spot somewhere in the nhl, he should be working on that menu at his bars, and making the food a little more edible!

He has been quoted as saying, that Gordies record wasn't the career goal of his. But there has always been that rumor or speculation of him holding out for his son to break through to the big leagues.

Just read this on msn.com Take a look. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Inves....aspx?GT1=33002

damn I didn't realize Gilbert was making that much! He is like the turnover king. Everytime I see him play, he turns the puck over.

They may have announced this today or yesterday, but they were talking about this last week. I will be looking forward to this game. It's amazing at the announcements that go on around the league are old news by the the time they announce them, hence the WC. We knew months before they publicly announced that.

Supposedly a deal is set in place for him to go to Florida, or possibly the Islanders. I believe he is looking for 5 million a year or more.

Anaheim is just another one of these teams that think they have some type of rivalry with the Wings. Rivalries die when certain players move on. I am sure the 29 other teams and their fans alike are circling the date on the calendar, when they face Detroit this year. They are circling it when their team goes up against Pittsburgh, or SJ or even Chicago this year as well.

This may be all well and true. But the fourthperiod.com isn't any more reliable then hockeybuzz.

Please no more 'has beens'. He was incredibly slow and a step behind for much of his time in Vancouver. I will admit, he looked better towards the end of the season, but still. I would rather see this team pick up a decent to quality player that can shoot the puck, without leaving black smears on the goalies chest logo! This organization is notorious for picking up a quality player for less money. The Hossa saga this year about 'will he sign' or 'wont he sign' was a little much. And imo, was a complete distraction during the playoff run and especially against his old team. Sundin falls right into this big name guy, signing a one year deal, and then having to deal with a contract negotiation next year. I would rather take my chances with Robert Lang on one good Achilles Tendon!

I still believe Holmstrom is quite effective when he is healthy. I think goaltenders fear his presence. He makes the goaltenders job more difficult for sure. I don't believe he was healthy all year. I think he was injured early on, and his ability to be consistent night in night out was hindered for sure. I love how all the naysayers come out of the woodwork, after an injury filled season. They talk s***, and say good riddance, thank god!

I voted for Conklin. I just think he played a key role in the success of this team this past season. All will be missed I am sure. What's pissing me off the most this off season, is not so much making no signings thus far, but Hossa, Kopecky, and Conklin all staying in the Central! We all know how clutch former Wings are against the team.

I guess I didn't write my response the way I wanted it to come out. I was more thinking, that they lost him, not because of his play, but his salary. And it was the Blues fault in the first place for overpaying him.
-
I wouldn't mind a few of these players mentioned thus far. But I have a feeling KH will make a trade, rather than sign one of these UFA's mentioned.
-
Thats funny. I just read that Matt Ellis re-signed in Buffalo.

Thats why I decided to start a thread on this. I am still trying to figure why the Blues did this. But the Pens totally scored on this deal.
