I learned my lesson about speaking of this topic in 2006. Me in 2006: "I want the Oilers. The Oilers suck, and they're barely holding on to that eighth seed! No problem" There are a lot of teams I would rather not play though. I think Detroit would have harder times with Columbus, Vancouver, and Dallas rather then with teams like Calgary, Minnesota, and Anaheim. But right now, I don't think this team could handle any of these teams in a series with this penalty kill, lack of goaltending, and absent mindness with the D. I sure hope they take advantage of rest and time to practice to get some of these issues squared away. If there's a switch to be flipped for this team to sharpen up, it needs to be flipped now!

I know there was a little bit of hype with Mats Sundin returning to Toronto as a Canuck this week. Like many others I was pretty tired of the Sundin saga all summer and fall of 2008. But could you have scripted this any better. This is a HNIC clip from tonights (Saturday) game. For those of you who missed this.

I think like stated before, that Datsyuk would really have to have 3 point nights. I think the reason a Wing will not get it, is there's just too many other players on the team constantly contributing. It doesn't all fall on Datsyuk to carry the load. Ovechkin at least has help from a real good line, but Malkin has nobody on his. It has to be a one man show for him to score.

There just seemed to be some mixed feelings amongst some fans there lastnight. I really liked how the ACC erupted with cheers, as their team just lost! Its like the outcome of the game didn't matter. It was all about Sundin.

I am not real big on Meech. I don't dislike the guy, but he may have a better chance of standing out and contributing on a lower caliber team. Kind of like Quincey. Everynight the Wings play, it's one more date, that was circled on the calendar from the opposing team, that is using Detroit as their measuring stick. And I think when there is a mistake, it gets highlighted. Its unfortunate for the young, still developing players who are trying to build their confidence. But that is life when you are young, playing with an extremely talented team. I don't really find myself at odds with him, like I do with the likes of Kopecky. But they will either keep him and develop him, or use him as good trade bait. Any which way the team wins.

Last year during the Cup final, Homer was asked something about Crosby, and his response was "who?" was classic. I know we all here were loving it. It was pretty obvious, Homer didn't hear the reporter very well, but the way it came out, you couldn't help but laugh. And yes, if you want to keep your job in any workplace these days; you have to be politically correct. Even in hockey.

Here is a link from Therrien talking about the firing with tsn http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267509&lid...=headlines_main

Maybe they are getting ready to trade him. He's making 4.5 million dollars this year. I wonder who would be willing to take that paycheck on for someone who is struggling like him.

This could hurt the Stars recent surge in the standings. The info released so far is real vague with an upper body injury. I was watching the game. And in the 2nd period he left the game, not to return. He was driven pretty good into the boards, and his hand or possibly shoulder was injured. I can only speculate here, but I believe he broke his hand or something in that region. He was hurting pretty good. You could tell by his body language. Edit : tsn is reporting a broken wrist, out indefinetly. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267440&lid...=headlines_main

I have been watching most of this game. What a crazy game. 5 seconds left Kopitar jammed it home. very exciting

There is one name that stands alone in this category. Though he was never a hockey player, but in all sports, was there one name better than, DICK TRICKLE

I always get a kick out of John Oduya. (NJ) a couple notables that haven't been mentioned: Adam Foote (COL) Jeff Finger (TOR) Jay Beagle (WAS) Brad 'likes' Boyes (STL) Dan Boyle (just sounds contagious) (SJ) Ben Lovejoy (PIT) Milan Hejduk (hey duke!) (COL) Matt Carle (reminds of the term 'hot carl') (PHL) Kyle Greentree (CAL) Michael Funk (BUF) Jonas Hiller (to close to Hitler) (ANA) Travis Moen (sounds like a faucet) (ANA)

according to their boards, the Sharks are looking to possibly acquire him.

I am not totally off the Osgood bandwagon yet, but I am getting there. I am curious to see if Craig Andersons name keeps popping up here near the deadline.
-
The Habs always came up as the strongest contender for his services. Glad to see he is out of the cellar. But now he is in the spotlight, and under the microscope in Montreal.
-
couldn't agree more.
-
Thats actually kind of funny. On xm the other day, they were joking, saying the Habs should bring back Brian Hayward.

Anaheim goaltender Giguere who's making 5.5 million this year, 6 next year, and 7 million the following year has just received the hook. He has given up 5 goals already here in the 2nd period. Hiller has now come in. And now only a minute in the crease he has given one up. They are losing 6-1 to Atlanta. Kovalchuk with the hat-trick already. At this rate I think we may have another seller at the deadline. The Ducks may need to offload a few bodies and do a slight rebuild. We have seen this all before with teams Burke has had his hands on.
-
empty netter gives Atlanta 8 goals tonight.
-
7-3 short handed. ouch. Brian Hayward is such a homer.
-
the guys on xm have been talking about this for over ten days now. I heard it was supposed to be right after the loss to Detroit last Sunday.

Thanks YG1340. I didn't realize that Staurts NTC was that way.
