SCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Penguins 0

I don't know...I have a good feeling about this series. The Wings have it in their hand. They've had it in their hand all along, they've just dropped it a few times out of boredom of beeing to superior. But I can't see them let it go at this point, they're too damn professional and smart.

Malkin, we need to make him grumpy so he'll begin whine and take stupid penalities. Or Ruutu, always nice to see a Fin get some punishment (except Filppula of course)

Henrik Zetterberg - the man who would be King

Great article. Kinda sweet how Dats took him "under his wing" as Hank put it. They are a remarkable duo in so many ways, like brothers or something.

How can the Pens beat the Wings?

Imagine for a moment that your were the Penguins coach and your mission was to defeat the Wings in the SCF. How would you do it? Is it reasonable to believe that the current Penguins staff are thinking the same thing? Then, returning to the Wings bench; how do we best defend these tactics? I wish I could give my shot at this but I haven't seen any games at all with the Pens, however after seeing the Wings through the palyoffs I'd try one thing: The Wings are very rational, like a well oiled machine just dispatching everything coming at it. However, it seem from the games we lost to Nashville and Dallas that an opponent CAN trap us in an emotional momentum where we somehow become lost and uncreative. I'd try to achieve this somehow. Perhaps by "shocking" us with aggressive/sacrificing play early in the game/periods, or focus-diverting play á la Ducks like bullying or borderline-cheapshots, especially toward Ozzy/Dats/Hank. The cure for the Wings, I guess, is not to sleepwalk through segments of the game (especially the openings). That is, never to lose the sense of urgency -- the edge -- and become too predictable, and thereby invite the opponent to gain initiative. Granted, the Pens might not even be built for this type of game. What would you do as their coach?

Red Wings Drawing The Attention Of Swedish Fans

Wow hak, this is exactly the way I do it. Early nap, watch the game while praying to the Gods (we're still polytheistic here ya know ) that the sopcast-stream will stay up (and be of a bitrate a least high enough for the player jersey numbers to be distuingishable). Then relax for a while to let the heartbeat resume a normal rate, and sleep another 2 hours before the lectures start. The term is in its ending weeks (engineering physics) and I'm having all kinds of exams and assignments right now so I'm not sure all this is a good idea at all. But hey, hockey playoffs is the best sports experience there is. With or without swedes! I guess this is my first post with any meaning at all so; hey everyone! This board is just wonderful. Go wings!

    Franzenstein

From the ESPN game 2 preview: "He's also become a popular player in the dressing room, where he displays his subtle humor and willingness to accept being referred to as the offspring of a donkey and a horse. "At first, he didn't know what (mule) meant and didn't know if it was a good or a bad thing," said Niklas Kronwall, Franzen's roommate on the road. "Once he found out what it meant, he was proud of it."" http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/preview?gameId=280426005
