My brain says Canada. My heart says Sweden. Although outside of hockey, I love Canada too Not to give up the gold yet but I'm very happy Team Sweden made it to the finals again.

Oh I agree! I was talking in general terms. This fight is exactly what I want to see from him more often.

Lilja vs Boll Can't help to think Lilja has some real boom in him (just look at that first right), he just can't seem to get it out of him. He's a lightweight's mind in a heavyweight's body.
-
Wonderful, thanks.

Franzen must have gotten struck by an identity psychosis at the blueline, suddenly believing he was Pavel Datsyuk.
-
Great fight! Most of the time it's the urge of the fighters, rather their actual fighting skills, that's entertaining. Lilja should watch and learn from this...

Beside those black stripes (which must be prototypical) it looks ok I think. Didn't Gretzky have an old JOFA as well btw?

I'm ok with that opinion but looking at the fighting in the NHL (well ok, AHL in this case) as a whole, this kind of "classiness" is most likely a requirement for it to sustain. The minute players start to mess each other up too bad, with UFC-style KO's (bare-knuckled at that), head injuries etc, fighting will begin to lose its support. The realist in me regard Downey as a perfect example of today's NHL fighter. Realism aside, I love him for his classiness and sacrifice and can't wait to see him back. Edit: I also love him for his cool dialect. Is it canadian?

Seems like Ritola, as well as the other top prospects, are keeping their steam up individually. Yeah, I bet that's what's on top of his list

That's a piece of art man, simple as that.

Ouch! Too bad for him, best of wished for his recovery. -
He better get a no-trade clause into that one...

Z made a similar kind of "career committing" comment some time ago...this is what makes me love this team, because the players obviously do.

Look, the guy just expressed his frustration. He didn't complain or act crazy about it. I don't see any reason to mess with that. First of all, you can't argue about it. It's a fact that he feels this way. You can make up scenarios and compare with yourself anyway you want, it still isn't gonna change it. Second, even opinions are senseless since the subject isn't debatable in the first place. So yeah, your post came off as unemphatic since you didn't acknowledge this. I'm sure this doesn't reflect your personality. Other than this I get your point an agree! No need to scale this subject out of proportions and get into worldwide miseries...

I think we got another egocentric here. So why is YOUR reaction -- not even to the same game but to a totally different one -- any more valid than anyone else's? Your'e making a useless argument. You can call it an opinion if you want, but it's not an argument. Trying to assume it is and that the thread should be closed based on it just lacks any logics. And respect. And empathy. Edit: The egocentricity I mentioned refers to your post, not you as a person.

This kind of opening statement is an excellent way of killing the interest for whatever you're going to say next. To the original poster; you have every right to be bitter buddy, that's how we human work. I too have a bitter taste left...It was so much hype and expectations in the air that night, the pain out of losing, and they way we lost, was terrible! I don't think I ever recovered mentally, even when they did win. And apparently not still!

Gotta love these Google translations Now let the breeding begin...we need high-quality recruits for coming generations of the Red Wings Army!

I think his 3 month of offence flurry is a bit too long to be just a "streak", but still a bit too crazy to be a new standard for him. I'll be happy if he lands somewhere in between, a grinder with an above average scoring knack.

I expect Hanky (and Panky for that matter...) to keep up the excellent two-way play we've been spoiled with in the past, especially these playoffs. Score a goal or kill a goal, no matter as long as the team wins. The regular season trophies aren't tied to his success at all as far as I'm concerned. That said, 50 goals isn't impossible if he can stay healthy. Art Ross; no. Hart; possible but not very likely on this team. His best chance is probably the Selke, he got a lot of recognition for his defensive play during the playoffs.

It shouldn't be...but I have a strange gut feeling about this one...

No Mats you silly, no talking with the Habs, only talking with the WINGS!

Good list. I like your mention of Franzen and even if it's highly unlikely he'll make that list, he's a wildcard alright. Heatley should be there sure, but I've got a streaky feeling for him. He'll put up loads of points as long as the team is having success, only to struggle when they don't. Same with Spezza. Highly talented players, but no distinct leaders or game-changers yet.
