How many times did a pit player run into Ozzie the last two games? How many times was it called? I have no problem with calling penalties as long as it is consistent through out. These calls change from minute to minute.

Im dieing to know what makes Crosby better than Dats? Who passes better? Who skates with the puck better? Better moves? Physical in the corners? So Crosby may be a little faster, so what? Id take Dats over Crosby any day.

Dont forget 1994 when Rowdy Roddy Pieper and the SJ Sharks took us out in round one. That was the worst hockey I have ever seen.

Pens will lose alot this year IMO. THey have alot of work to do signing guys. The Wings D core will be stronger the year after next but yeah, this team looks like it will be a contendor for some time. Only issue that may hurt, goaltending. We stuck with Hasek too long and IMO it has hurt development.

The NHL looked primed to capitalize on charismatic stars such as Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemuiex. Then Gary Bettman took off his Superman cape and put on his cloak of ineptitude. After the most successful season in league history Commissioner Bettman decided a salary cap needed to be created immediately. However, pushing for an immediate salary cap that the majority of large market teams and players did not want was not a good idea. Upsetting players and the owners of the biggest teams could only prove problematic. Insisting on implementing something so controversial that could potentially cause a strike was not a good decision. So after the great season the NHL had, rather than capitalize on the golden opportunity that had been given to them, they decided to go on strike. With the league on the verge of becoming what members had only dreamt about, they alienated the fans and completely screwed up any opportunity they had to elevate the status of the league. The NHL eventually did play a 48 game season but the future that once looked so promising was now back sitting in mediocrity. Read the article, it has stats. Bettman is a lawyer. He is a very smart man. What makes him an idiot has nothing to do with his intelligence. He is an idiot because he is willing to take hockey from loyal long time fans in order to reinvent the game for newbies. Hockey was more popular in the 80s than it is now. The 80s were very exciting hockey years. Tons of offense fighting and rivalries. Bettman is an idiot for taking the hockey out of hockey and turning it into NBA Ice. And yes he is smart enough to find a player to build a league on, market (worldwide) with and have a corporate sponsor (gatorade and nike) tow the line. He did it with basketball.
