69.4 Contact Outside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates any contact with a goalkeeper, other than incidental contact, while the goalkeeper is outside his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such unnecessary contact. When a goalkeeper has played the puck outside of his crease and is then prevented from returning to his crease area due to the deliberate actions of an attacking player, such player may be penalized for goalkeeper interference. Similarly, the goalkeeper may be penalized, if by his actions outside of his crease he deliberately interferes with an attacking player who is attempting to play the puck or an opponent. The guy had no place to go, he went to play the puck and didnt deliberately attack the goalie. No penalty in my mind.

How many things do they have to consider? That contact was legal BTW, the goalie left his crease. If he went for the head then Weber went for the head Im glad to see shanny getting heat for it, in fact he should be s*** canned. Because our Defense ******* sucks man. Pretty simple really. What do you want the kid to do? You cant get a shutout every game. Our D is atrocious in our own end and has been for years. You realize that every goalie that has ever played here gets s*** on all the time? Think about it. Just since 2000. Osgood Hasek, Legacy, Cujo, Howard, McDonald, Conklin. All those guys truly suck right? Cmon man call it the way it is, our D is terrible. Last year we had Lids and a one legged Rafalski back there. And this year we have a broke Lids and Ian ******* White. LMAO yup its the goalie.

It depends if he still enjoys playing the game. He doesnt look as happy the past few years as he normally did. So maybe he isnt enjoying it as much. Lets face it hes rich, a shoe in HOF and accomplished the status of one of the best all time dmen. All he is playing for is the enjoyment of the game, and from the look I saw on his face all day it seems to me the craziness in the league may finally beat that out of him. We will see, but I think either way Nick retires at the end of the season.

Keep in mind the poor kid is left hung out to dry constantly. How many odd man rushs did he come up big on? How many times does a guy take a wide open point blank shot whit our defenders doing whatever it is they do out there? Its like when people were pissed at Ozzie in 01. Dude let up few goals in that series but we could not score AT ALL in that series. Stop blaming Howard hes just fine. Look at the team in front of him. Correct. Its not the loss that gets me, I didnt expect much from the Wings this post season. Then Helm went out and well.... Just look at last night, I went ballistic over the Smith dive in the hawks game. What kind of league is this? Its disgusting. The guy lays on the ice like he was shot in the face. Yet as soon as the penalty was dished out, he magically pops up and is ready to play like nothing happened. Its not that the NHL has an agenda, they are just horribly incompetent and misguided. The game of hockey isnt good enough, you need to have little queens like Crosby, refs trying to keep series close by matching penalties on the score sheet, suspension of players who are injured for trying to sit out on an exhibition all-star game, the lame ass winter classic non-sense (I think that is retarded, and do you really want to compete with NCAA Bowl games LMAO) I dunno Im just not in love with this league like I was 10 or 20 years ago.

I dont think so. Honestly I feel like Im wasting my time. The game is so fouled up its not fun for me to watch anymore. My best friend went through this a few years ago and when I talked to him about the playoffs on thursday he was laughing about the Weber deal and the other BS going on out there. He doesnt miss it. Ah well, college football is right around the corner.

Players are not as talented thats for sure, but at least its the game of hockey I remember and grew up playing. This nonsense the NHL puts out there is not hockey, its WWF wrestling on skates. With all the BS drama and nonsense that goes along with it. Add to the fact that illegal participation from the bench is now allowed in the game. How is that not suspension worthy? Do you think the NFL would put up with that bulls***? A guy completely disgraces the game by playing the puck from the bench, guys jumping in to the play holding players on the ice, and drawing calls for it. The next NHL VP of Business should be Rick Flair, and the Bushwackers should be dropping pucks in the faceoff circle.

From what I have witnessed this year in the playoffs, I have pretty much decided to stop watching the NHL. Horribly dirty play, terrible officiating, dirtbag players, guys diving all over the ice the list goes on. NCAA blows this league away and to be honest I caught a few Colorado Eagles games and the ECHL has much more to offer than the NHL. I have never been more disappointed in this league in the 30 years I have been watching. Its sad to see what this sport has become. I didnt hold much hope for the Wings in the series, so that is not it. Something is missing from this game and this league will disappear into oblivion, as it should. Compare this to the product the NFL puts out and its not even close.

The thing that I cant understand is how terrible the play in our own end is. This started about 8 years ago. Blind passes up the middle from the D. Forwards no where to be found. BTW, where the F is our center in the D zone? How do we have this issue year in and year out? Now that Lids is showing his age it has gotten much worse. How can Ken Holland look at this team and feel comfortable that we have a cup contendor? Our D used to be the strength of this team and now its bordering on a complete joke. If we dont fix this D next year we may really be looking at missing the playoffs in the near future.

At this point Id rather watch the Nashville puck bunnies than this game. At least the potential for a boob to escape is more exciting than our PP.
