Did anyone see what was going on behind Zetterberg in that interview? Kronwall sure didn't look ready for the game...

Peach schnapps, Jager, cranberry juice.

PS: For extra amusement, head over to penguins.nhl.tv and watch Therrien's presser. And then Babcock's. And then say, "Thank you, god." Have I mentioned yet how much I love Mike Babcock? Because I do, I love him. Especially when he's asked about meeting with the NHL, and he replies, "And most of the meeting had to do with blows to the head." and then goes on to praise the refs. How brilliant is he?

In case anyone missed it and would like to see it, and for anyone who's looking for things to do to pass the time until 8 PM EST, Babcock's presser along with a few player interviews are up on redwings.nhl.tv.

I'm currently watching the French Open, and I'm holding onto an irrational hope that McEnroe will say something about Chelios.
-
Not so much. I can see us splitting or sweeping. This is partially due to my new favorite Mike Babcock quote: Also, a three-month winning streak at home? I think it would do Therrien well to stop talking about it. Sounds like something waiting to be broken, as lots of things have been this series. Have you lost two road games yet? How about two shut outs? And who just doubled your losses in two games? Seems to me you should be thinking about the fact that you have yet to play the Wings at home. Oh, and. I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere, but there's a reason Datsyuk's been fantastic on the road. Therrien's looking forward to having last change, for the match-ups. He's all excited to get Crosby out there without Zetterberg and Dats, I'm sure. Absolutely cannot wait. But that means they'll be out there with someone else, who knows who. And are you really counting on "someone else" to contain the Euro Twins?
-
I keep wondering that myself. It seems everyone is assuming that Therrien and Crosby's whining are going to turn into more calls, and I can understand why. At the same time, however, can anyone else also see it backfiring? Particularly in light of the way the Pens handled (or, rather, mishandled) the end of Game 2?
-
Can't wait! We're not at home, so Datsyuk will light it up.
-
I've never heard that before, but I love it

I can't speak for everyone, but that's not exactly why I was laughing. Of course Holmstom knows who Sidney Crosby is. It's funny because Crosby has been a bit, shall we say, insignificant this series. I'd say invisible enough that "Sidney who?" seems a bit appropriate, dontcha think?

I like this suggestion from Bill Houlihan over at Abel to Yzerman:
-
He does. It's been funny watching our opponents try to knock him off his game because it's impossible. His philosophy (aka "I just play between the buzzers." and "I don't think about the past.") could be taken as trite, but he's absolutely 100% sincere about it. And, it's great to see him having fun. It was sorta sad to see Malkin say, "I'm tired." (I realize he's on the losing end of it, but still.) This is the Stanley Cup Final. Once in a lifetime. Enjoy it, relish it, make the most of it. What is the record for shut out minutes?
-
I think we all know this well, but he's a pretty funny guy too: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...91&n8pe6c=2

I feel like this has been said a few times on here, in the blogs, by the writers, etc. but I think it warrants repeating: We are definitely out-playing and out-classing them, but most importantly, they are being out-coached and out-captained. Beyond the pressers, I really loved VS providing all the shots of Therrien and Crosby during the game. Why? Because rarely were either of them talking to their team. Instead, they were running their mouths to the refs. Sure, maybe that's going to score you a PP or two. But if you can't score on the PP, who are you going to talk to then? The refs, apparently. Also, I sincerely hope there is more being said in the Penguins locker room than either Therrien or Crosby are saying in their pressers. If not, this series is going to be a sweep. It might also do Therrien well to think about the detriment he's causing the youth of his team by refusing to say, "We are not playing well." or "They are playing better." or even, "We need to play better." (Hell, Babs is saying the last one, and some are saying this is the best they've ever seen the Wings play.) While I didn't think choosing Crosby for captain was a smart choice, it was an even worse choice under the "leadership" of Therrien. While Crosby may have been a whiner coming into Pittsburgh, it can be assumed that no one is telling him to do any different. I completed a thesis in Sport Psych last year on how college and professional athletes learn from their coaches. The most consistent finding was that elite athletes learn more about what not to do from "bad" coaches than about what to do from "good" coaches. (Take from that what you will.) I don't like Crosby, and I'm quickly losing any respect for him that I had been convinced I needed to have for "The Next One," but he's young and probably still impressionable and being impressed in the worst possible way. Hopefully he'll eventually get out of this situation saying, "Man, if I learned one thing from Therrien, it was not to..." If only because I don't think I, along with many NHL fans, want to listen to him ***** and moan for the next 15+ years.

Isn't the voting on that done before the playoffs?

I'm wondering the same thing...

Loved Messier stopping just short of calling Jones a freaking idiot.

That was great!

10:00 in, no SOG for the Pens.

From Crosby's presser today: Why does he keep saying that? I'm have trouble understanding his logic. You have significantly more control over creating opportunities than over whether or not the other team takes penalties. Or, at least, you should.

Surprise surprise.
