    Sean Avery on Jimmy Fallon

i recorded it last night to watch today...HUGE waste of time. i like avery as a hockey player, when he actually plays hockey. but he seemed like a huge tool and not a great personality.

Time to grade the Wings players

i thought meech was good during the season. obviously better than chelios, and i wouldnt mind seeing him competing for the 6th spot, ericcson of course being 5 or 6 depending on the lilya situation. id give meech a C-, did not do anything great, but also not terrible. still has learning to do and im looking forward to seeing him develop.

NHL as a product now that season is over.

On ESPN a few days ago they had a list of top sports in the us. i believe it was from a poll around 2007. the NHL made the top 15, at 15, possibly 14. ahead of the NHL were fantastic leagues such as WNBA and probably poker, extreme sports were also ahead of the NHL. the league should have easy time climbing up if they wanted to. now we can see crosby lift the cup in every commercial. i wish he can grow a sport better than he can grow a beard.

    ESPN Jinx

Ive watched ESPN the last few days and they all seem to have predicted the wings winnging. this goes back to game 5. what i dislike most was that they have analysts talking about hockey on shows like around the horn and pti. i dont think what they say has an impact, but since everything ESPN says about hockey is wrong, id rather have them chose the pens. and Melrose also picked the wings.

    What are you doing now?

I'm sitting on the couch trying to drink enough to not remember. what makes this that much worse is losing to the pens.... whats everyone else doing/thinking

    What are you doing now?

I DO think the wings were the better team; however, they made more mistakes (so maybe they werent the best team?????). But I am disappointed but not angry.

    ESPN Jinx

i started the thread being somewhat sarcastic. I realize the team that played better won. However, I do not believe the best team won.

    What are you doing now?

I did not intend on this thread to be an outlet for distressed wings fan to bash other wings fans. I, too, am upset, but I was just looking for general reactions, thoughts, etc. Not so much complaints. This team has a core which has a great upside. I am proud to call myself a wings fan. Growing up in Chicago, I liked to watch hockey. And good hockey. I am glad ESPN showcased such a good team in the mid 90's. The Blackhawks organization shunned an entire generation. I chose the red wings as my team, having played there countless times in my youth and beyond. I just wanted to know how others felt about how others had reacted to tonights lose. I will dwell on it tonight, but like the red wings, look to the future tomorrow. I have no doubt in my mind that the wings will field an exceptional team next year, which I look forward to rooting for. As one who is currently unemployed, I may be of the minority who are looking for work in the Motor City just so I don't have to watch the wings year in and year out on Center Ice. It would be a dream to own season tickets and watch such a group of guys display world-class skill night in and night out.

    Hockey is a game of....

MISTAKES... I really do believe the red wings are better than the Pens, although they did play great. The wings made more mistakes and the penguins are a good team and made them pay for it. It does not matter what level of hockey is played, the team that makes less mistakes will win.

    Hockey is a game of....

id rather see huds stay than sammy, and lebda, if lilya can return, for ericsson. as for hossa...the multi million dollar question. im glad im not in that position.
  14. i totally agree, wings were the best team this year. But, they made too many mistakes.

What You'll Remember Most From This Season?

i regret not drinking until the third ill also remember carrie milbank
  19. Selke13

    UFA's

call me crazy, but i wouldnt mind seeing lang being a wing again, wouldnt want to pay much for him but i think he could help
  20. Selke13

    How epic would this be

i wouldnt want to see this. i think what makes this loss so hard is losing to the pens.

    Val

agreed has been great throughout the playoffs as for finishing troubles, as long as he can make plays and some assists, i dont care how many goals he gets

    Hockey is a game of....

the wings havent played hockey for 60 minutes for much of the series. the good thing they did though was not allow a goal during that time. im not blaming losses on those counts. the thesis of this topic, i suppose, is making untimely turnovers. as a former dman, albeit not great, i was taught when i didnt see an outlet to either put it off the glass, reverse it, or keep it in the corner. IMO, STUART should have gone back to basics, even though those plays should not have decided this game...i mean series.

    Hockey is a game of....

hudler, though, isnt trusted defensively. first few games it was all helm and abdelkader, then tonight when we needed goals babs turned to hudler. it is all situational. personally, i think hudler should have played more in the first few games b/c he is good offensively. id like to see him on a line other than 2nd pp
