Really makes me miss the negative rep button.
-
Awesome! Thanks for checking on that.

Yeah, that's my hopes as well. I didn't know if they would not allow any Fox feed as a bargaining tool or what but here is hoping it doesn't affect Center Ice.
-
So will this affect Center Ice if you are a Dish customer and purchased it?
-
Maybe it is dependent upon provider but I'll bet 95% of games are in HD if you have Dish Network. Usually you get 4 options for each game, both team's local feeds in standard and HD. Occasionally, you only get one of the team's feeds in HD but usually both are available. To the best of my knowledge games are blacked out if they are on Versus or if they are on your Regional Fox station but not for any of the other Fox networks. I get lots of the games that are on a Fox feed just not the ones in my local area.
-
Yeah, I love it. I do have NHL Network which I enjoy as well. Really the only downside is when a game is blacked out because it is on VS or NBC and you don't get Kenny and Mickey.
-
I gotta agree, I love it. Every night you get at least 4 or 5 games. If you have a dvr it is pretty much non-stop hockey.
-
Unless he just wants less pressure, less media, etc. but still wants to be around the game.

I actually think it is more the case that Lebda shouldn't be paid as much as Lilja. Just because TO was stupid and grossly overpaid for Lebda doesn't mean another team has to go out and overpay for Lilja.

Hatcher on the Wings is the one for me. I thought he would be a great addition for the Wings but with with the injury and all it was pretty much a non-event.
-
I don't know if it ever being mentioned anywhere official. My statement was just what I hope happens. Chelli just seems like he would fit that role so well. He was in the league a long time and one of the best most of his career. He mentored guys on the Wings when he played and I know was considered to be a great mentor to younger guys on the USA team as well.
-
My bet is it is kind of a foot in the door type deal where he is mostly helping with player development and really just prepping him for a defensive coach job.

Each rink has its own rules. Some rinks, like the Stars, don't have any requirements and you can bring any size lens that you want, others like the Joe have strict rules and they do enforce them. It saddens me that I can't bring a larger lens to the Joe but it sure doesn't ruin going to the game.

I agree the term has evolved, and sadly there are very few traditional power forwards. There is not much better than watching a guy like Shanny who could score a beautiful goal and then turn around a few minutes latter and pummel a guy. I wonder if some of the reason for the change (in addition to the fact that players in general are just getting bigger) is that coaches aren't wanting their 30 goal scores to spend that much time in the penalty box.
-
I think that Philly (of course), Toronto and Anaheim will be fun to watch from a fighting perspective. Colton Orr will will continue to be my favorite guy to watch pummel people.
-
The only way I can see a player even considering it is if he wants a multi-year deal and that is more more important than a little bit more money. But yeah, I agree that it would be an odd situation.

The NHL is holding their second "Shanahan Summit" the itinerary is below. Looks like they are considering several different options for overtime. I can't even imagine what 3 minutes of 2 on 2 would look like. Here is the complete list of what they are looking at: Wednesday August 18 (all times ET; subject to change) 10:00 a.m. – Noon * Hybrid icing rule; * No line change for team committing an offside; * Crease reset rule; * Face-off variation (face-off controlled by whistle in place of traditional puck drop); * Overtime: three minutes of 4-on-4; three minutes of 3-on-3; three minutes of 2-on- 2 followed by shootout (5 players per team). 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. * Bigger crease; * Verification goal line (additional line situated behind the goal line); * Wider blue lines; * Line changes zone in front of each bench; * Face-off variations (infringement results in the offending player moving back further, three face-off dots down the middle of the ice); * No icing the puck while shorthanded; * OT – three minutes of 4-on-4; three minutes of 3-on-3; three minutes of 2-on-2 with long line changes; followed by three shooters per team shootout (if tied after three shots then players who have shot previously can shoot again). Thursday August 19 (all times ET; subject to change) 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. * No touch icing; * Team that commits an offside infraction cannot make a line change and face-off is in offending team zone; * Face-off variation: after a face-off violation, opposition center may choose his face-off opponent; * Second referee located off the playing surface; * Delayed penalty rule * No icing the puck while shorthanded; * OT – 4-on-4 (with long line change) followed by a shootout with five players. 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. * Variations of special teams play; * OT – 4-on-4 (with long line change). Here is the link Edit: corrected link

Both of those guys are only signed to one year deals. Its not like they got multiple year deals that will keep the Wings from bringing up young guys next year. His bonus is what makes the deal appealing, since he is bonus eligible at the end of the season if we have cap space left over it can be used on this year's cap if not it can roll over to next year (if he even reaches the bonus goals). If the full salary had to be included in this year's cap hit it would be much more unpalatable.
-
I agree or possibly never gotten thrown into the fire with the heavy minutes and responsibility and never become for Detroit what he did for LA/Colorado.
-
This year the bonuses are really important, we don't have the cap space so it is great to be able to sign a player to a lower cap hit and then having the option to roll the bonus over to next year is they need too. So if Lils wanted $1.25M in salary that would be an extra $500K that they have to have in cap space this year which is their big concern. Additionally Lils wanted the top four place which he wasn't going to get.
-
Yeah but Lils wanted quite a bit more money and also more playing time and Mitchell was likely always too expensive.
-
Looks like the price is pretty good. The one-year deal is worth $750,000, plus $350,00 in bonuses. I agree with most here he is no Mitchell but then again he doesn't come with the price tag either. Good signing for the price I think.
-
That's what I was thinking, I wonder what exactly they mean by a goal verification line.
-
I can't even imagine NHL hockey 2 on 2 and it just seems wrong for the ref to just blow the whistle instead of dropping the puck (plus that would add a whole new problem with the intent to blow the whistle rule )
