Huge ratings for the Wings Blackhawks Game 1

The first number is the % of households that have their TV's on and the second number is the % that were watching the specific program. I don't know you'd have to ask guys like E_S_A_D and Micah

Sure thing sometimes it is hard to tell on the internet.

    Quenville post game

Yeah but what a great nickname! I don't know if you are qualified to determine what threads are "necessary" especially after you created The buzz is gone in Hockeytown Where you knocked attendance at the Joe (or the "Joe Lewis Library" as you call it ) claiming it was going to be dismal for the playoffs and yet they have sold out every playoff game thus far with an attendance of 20,066 (even with 22% unemployment). Will the Wings be upset by the Blue Jackets where you predicted the Blue Jackets would win in 6 because "They are playing a hungrier, better goaltended, and more physical team." (Now that was a thread that was not necessary - only three people even posted in that thread and they all picked the Wings either 4-0 or 5-1). I have no problem with you starting whatever threads you want but how about letting Opie do the same thing (and his aren't even bashing the Wings - is that the real problem? ). P.S. Good to see you back E_S_A_D haven't seen many posts lately.

    Havlat

I almost spit out my drink I was laughing so hard. Nicely done! Yeah he did and it was really weird looking, initially I thought Kronner was going to get the worst of it but Havlat didn't get up and they had to stop play. He must have twisted something (or something like that) because it wasn't much of a collision.

Yeah BlakChamber was just being sarcastic, he was saying the same thing as you just mocking at the same time.

NBC is biased against the Wings

Yeah I agree with that. I'm not saying that none of the guys in other sports have other broadcasting jobs. More that other sports have many more opportunities for permanent broadcasters or of them to do college games etc. There a lot more college basketball and football games on tv than college hockey games. You can't hardly even find the Frozen Four unless you are specifically looking for it. I agree that having tons of games on ESPN would fix or largely alleviate the problem because guys could commentate for them full time and would provide some general stability to the league regarding scheduling.

NBC is biased against the Wings

Wow the NHL decided to market to a national audience the guy that they consider the most marketable. They interviewed him not because he had anything to do with the game playing but because he had something to do with the game being played the next night ON THEIR PARTNER NETWORK and it will help create viewership for that game. The Wings game was on national broadcast television (on Sunday afternoon) while the Pens and Crosby will be on cable the viewership (on a Monday night) - the Wings got the better channel and better date/time - of course they marketed for the game the next night. NBC doesn't show enough games for that to be their full time job. TNT shows tons of NBA games so that is what those guys do full time. Fox shows tons of NFL games so those guys are full time too. The NHL only starts showing games in January and only 1 game a week and is even limited in the playoffs. Those guys have other jobs (which pretty much have to be with a specific team since they couldn't do VS and NBC very easily because of scheduling) until the NHL has a big contract covering lots of games with one of the major broadcasters this will continue which is really no big deal. I was just about to mention that, it bothers me too. I don't care who he is a fan of on the inside. You don't think that every commentator for every sport has a team or a player that they really like? Of course they do. As long as they can commentate without letting their personal preference dominate their commentary who really cares who they like on the inside.

    Chris Osgood..wow!

What most of us that kept defending Ozzy were saying, and why we had faith in him was just a few months earlier he had played unreal and could easily been the Conn Smythe winner over guys as amazing as Z, Dats, Mule, and Lids. It was unbelievable to some of us that he had suddenly, magically lost the ability to play goaltender at a high level. It wasn't like the guy hadn't played good for a couple of years, it was a couple of months and some of us continued to support him. Some criticized his play (which was valid and nothing at all wrong with that) and others were just a saying hateful things about him personally which was uncalled for, but to say that some of us had no reason to believe in him is not correct. Edit: And apparently we weren't the only ones. "There were some doubts (in Osgood) coming into the playoffs, but everyone in here, we all knew what he brings to the table, what he can do when it matters," said Niklas Kronwall, the Detroit defenceman. "I don't doubt myself, ever. People that don't know me, do," Osgood told reporters earlier this spring. "I've played for 15 years. I mean, I have the most wins in playoff history for the Red Wings for a reason. It's not because I'm a bad goalie."

I will lose major respect for Chicago fans if

I was at the Winter Classic with my 7 1/2 month pregnant wife. We were both decked out in Red Wings gear and all the Chicago fans were awesome to us. We had such a great time ribbing back and forth, one guy next to us even got my wife some hot chocolate because he thought she looked cold. Every team has jerk fans but Chicago has some really good ones too. You've obviously never met Micah or E_S_A_D they hate on the Wings more than any Hawks fan.

    Hand Shake Moment

I don't feel bad for him and I don't think he has any right to be upset about the last goal. He might could complain (even though there is no doubt it was a legit goal) except for what he said after the obviously blown call / early whistle in game 3. If you come out and say "You're always going to get good calls or bad calls against you. But I always say to be lucky you have to fight for it and tonight we fought for 60 minutes. That's why we deserve to be lucky at the end." If that is what he believes then he has absolutely no right to gripe/be upset about the call. The Wings thoroughly outplayed the ducks in the last game and throughout the series as a whole so even if it was a bad call (which it wasn't) the Wings deserved to be lucky in the end.

    Chris Osgood..wow!

It wasn't the asking more of Ozzy it was the Ozzy sucks, worst goalie, won't make it past the first round with him in net, etc. and the constant mocking (head in the sand, don't understand hockey, etc.) of those of us who said he would be great come playoff time. That is what he was talking about (and lots of that went on) not the Ozzy is a good goalie but playing badly and needs to play better crowd. Here are a couple of examples of those threads Here Here and Here

    Depth

I was wondering last night if this series and especially that game would have an impact on Kenny and Co.'s decision regarding Hossa. The role guys were such big contributors and to a large degree (with the exception of Lids and Z) the stars didn't carry the team. Our 3 superstar forwards would probably have lost the series if the Wings weren't so deep (look at the ducks 3 superstars without the depth we have). I wonder how much of that depth we can give up and still win even if we have Hossa. I agree, that was an amazing pass especially knowing the hit was coming, however, several times last night in similar situations (although not quite as good) Z and Dats couldn't pull the trigger or missed on the shot so Sammy should get credit for being able to finish.

    Chris Osgood..wow!

There were very few of us on here that backed Ozzy all season and believed in him. Its nice to be one of the few and then see the guy to as great as we knew he would. Way to go Ozzy!

Yeah that is the way that it seems to me as well but I figured if I put an option in the poll for a combo of 1 and 2 almost everyone would pick it.
