Top 10 reasons Wings will win

Don't be a D-Bag he was just creating a fun and funny topic on a Wings forum. The thread was to make Wings fans laugh, take shots at the ducks, and just for general humor for a specific audience. If you want to stay here and be taken seriously how about not starting flame wars or being a jerk just because you can do it from behind a computer.

I thought it was only one too but the other day a friend sent me this article saying he had two. Either way not very many. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/2008/10/the...gordie_how.html

Do you have any idea what you are talking about. I fully understand. That is what makes it so funny, the ducks win games by shutting other teams down yet they have allowed 18 goals in 6 games. That averages to 3 goals a game. Man those are some amazing shut down skills. You do know what shutting down would mean don't you it would mean not letting the other team score 3 goals a game. By the way since in the 6 games the Wings have only allowed 14 goals they would be shutting down the ducks more than the ducks are shutting them down.

Yeah everyone on every other hockey board. That's the dumbest claim that I have ever heard.

I'm a big Conks fan but I am always glad to see Ozzy play and glad he has done well.

Great line Duck Guy, you sure do make up for these other duck fan morons who just signed up last week. Not your DVR just your duck tinted glasses WOW, that is the dumbest thing I have ever read and on the internet that says a lot He said the same type of thing about the Blue Jackets (and most other teams at one time or another). He is just a much better person than most of the duck's players so you may not recognize class, humility, and statesmanship when you see it. But still not as much as Carlyle or Perry do. Its no wonder Burke got away from there as fast as he could. It's tied at 3-3 and the Wings have outscored them 18-14 and only one teams goalie has been chased from his net.

Yeah I agree BUT that is not what the rules say. The actual rule was quoted earlier in this thread but there should be suspensions based upon fighting in the last 5 minutes. I am not a big fan of the rule but it is the rule. Um yeah it is arguable largely because it is not even remotely correct. Hossa didn't throw a sucker punch and your accusation that he did is laughable.

Amazing, none of Ducks players started or did anything wrong.

First that was a big account as it was the main point of your post. Second, I contend that you are wrong because you compare as equal an elbow that may or may not have been intentional with one that definitely was.

    Niedermayer cheap shot and brawl

Agreed, but my point is your post saying that this would have been acceptable 10 years ago doesn't change the fact that according to today's rules and interpretations (especially the last 5 minutes rule) make this a different situation than 10 years ago.

    Niedermayer cheap shot and brawl

Wow, that is just pathetically incorrect. Maybe you should watch your DVR again it starts with Getz hooking Hossa, then the two kind of shoulder each other. I guess a magic dragon in a Red Wings jersey came down and started throwing fireballs too?

Incorrect on several counts, watch the video again Nieds and Pav were not engaged in a fight they were kind of holding each other back as is often done when there is a scrum with no intent to fight. It is debatable whether Homer's elbow was intentional, I happen to not think it was but I can see an argument that it was, there is no such argument regarding Nieds elbow. Additionally, you have that gutless wonder Perry going after a little guy who never fights and is just back from a multiple week injury. Not the Ducks finest moment - not that they have many.

The part in bold is the key point. This is not hockey 10 years ago it is hockey now. Like it or not (and there is good and bad about both) the rules are not the same. If it were 10 years ago there would have been a lot of calls for 2 line passes but those weren't called last night either. The rules have changed, and basically all of your descriptions of the events last night are incorrect.

What do you mean we can't even beat up Niedermayer and Perry Ericsson beat the crap out of Perry. Neither of these were real fights Perry jumped a guy 5" and 20 lbs smaller than himself who has been out injured for 2+ weeks and Niedermayer elbows Pav in the head with a sucker punch gets Dats helmet off and then tries to fight him with his helmet and big old shield on - what was Pav supposed to do, keep punching him in the visor and injure one of his hands?

WCSF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Ducks 2

QFT. I think that this will have a big impact on several guys, most notably Raffi and Dats (and possibly Hossa). When it was happening I was thinking how stupid it was by the Ducks, they aren't going to intimidate the Wings, they risk getting suspended (I don't think that any will but it was a risk), they rub salt in the wounds of Wings players, rile up Detroit fans where they have to go play game 7, and risk firing up guys that either haven't played much this series or have not been on top of their game. Dumb move I thought, not much to gain and a lot to lose. Edit: I thought the Ducks came off looking pathetic. Perry jumps a guy who has been out the whole series and who is 5" and almost 20 lbs lighter than he is and Niedermayer cheap shots Dats with an elbow. Pathetic

    Crazy Wings Stat

I agree I have rarely enjoyed a game more and it was especially sweet against the Avs and Roy.

    Delay of Game Penalty

Since the top of the boards in front of the glass is so much lower than the top of the glass it is much easier for it to go into the bench so they decided not to make it an automatic penalty.

    Great Hudler Article

Really good article. I really hope we get to keep this guy around. Just a couple of the best parts: Regarding the hit in game 1: Regarding being fortunate enough to play for the Wings: Here is the link to the article.

Why are we paying Franzen 4 mil?

Excellent and succinct post. I was just about to post the same thing (although probably not as clearly ). It is a loophole because it allows teams to evade the purpose of the hard salary cap using long front loaded contracts where the teams can get the high ended cap hit off the books through any of the means that you listed above.

    Great Hudler Article

I don't think Kindl has dropped of the radar, during the midseason scouting report he was still listed as the 3rd best prospect right behind Ericsson and Helm and ahead of Abdelkader and Leino. Kindl hit a rough patch for a while but he has been much better as of late. Kindl is still 3 years younger than Ericsson and seems to be progressing well - given some time I think he will be a good asset for the Wings. Edit* Poor grammar.

    D-mac recalled for game 6

You have to either play 41 regular season games or play in a Stanley Cup Finals game. It is not enough to just play in the playoffs. A team can also petition to get a players name added if there is a significant reason such as injury or other extenuating reason (for example Meech got his name on the cup after the Wings petitioned it).

    Do you re-sign Marian Hossa?

I've been wondering about that projection of possibly a $40M (give or take) cap in 2010-11 because the average payroll (which I know is not the same as cap hit but I can't find the average of all the team's cap hits) for 2007-08 was $44.4M (and should be higher this year and next year). I know that they are saying it is a hard cap but if the cap drops roughly 30% in one year they may have to figure out some new option. The average salary of all teams is too much higher than they Cap at $40M and so team cannot trade players to teams well below the cap because there are too many over and not enough under. I can't imagine having all these teams already feeling the downturn in the economy having to cut players and pay partial salaries just to get under the cap. Those players will not be able to sign with other teams because almost every team will already be up against the cap and even if you aren't, as the Wings showed this year, they will want to have a little room for injury call ups. The cap floor this year is over $40M so it will be interesting to see what they do if the ceiling drops to that amount (or anywhere near it). All that being said I am not sure about Hossa. He is one of my favorite players and definitely worth $7-8M - the question is whether he is worth $6-7M to the Wings. Even without Hossa the Wings have 2 of the best two way players in the game, have lots of offensive fire power and have defensively responsible forwards. I like the guy and hope that Kenny can figure something out that won't kill the Wings cap wise but I think it is going to be hard for the Wings to spend that much on a guy, who because of our other talent, is a luxury not a necessity.
