Regarding the bolded part, I don't think many here think it will be a 4-5 game series. Check out this thread where we are playing a game predicting series outcomes and you'll find most here don't think it will be a sweep.

Not only that but he cherry picked the time frame as well. Look at the entire season and the wings have 4 in the top 50 and the Ducks have 2. Not that it matters as this is a silly way to try and look at the better team and analyze who will win a series. Thanks for the laugh though bobbyryan. I hope it a good series.

That is what I thought when I went there - no knowledge of the actual sport whatsoever. Duck Guy - always one of my favorite posters. Thanks for having intelligent posts and enhancing the hockey discussion unlike hammertime who is basically: That is incorrect, not including fighting majors: In game 1 the Ducks took 6 penalties. In game 2 the Ducks took 6 penalties. In game 3 the Ducks took 5 penalties. In game 4 the Ducks took 3 penalties. and a 10 minute game misconduct. In game 5 the Ducks took 3 penalties. In game 6 the Ducks took 10 penalties. THE DUCKS TOOK 33 PENALTIES IN 6 GAMES and 10 penalties in one game alone. The Wings only had 16 all series (yeah I know they played two games less). Still the Wings were at 8 PIM/G and the Ducks were at 15.2 PIM/G. Combo that with the fact that the Wings PP clicked at 31.8% and the Ducks were at 21.7% and all those penalties add up (and whatever you want to say about the Sharks being better but Mason is a Vezina goalie nominee so not too shabby). Also, one of their best players Getzlaf committed the most on the team which is not too good for them either. I will agree that they did not take as many dumb penalties as they did last year but they won the first two games on the road (and took 6 penalties each game) which relieved a lot of pressure and frustration. Lets see what happens when they aren't up all series and lead most games. That is when they tend to take stupid penalties out of frustration - what did they have to be frustrated about last game.

According to MLive: General manager Ken Holland said center Kris Draper saw the doctor today and was ruled out for Games 1 and 2 against Anaheim. He'll be re-evaluated after that. Too bad his skill at the face off circle will be missed. Good to hear that Lils is skating and in drills a little bit at least. Hope he gets better.

That's what I was just thinking. Three Russians - I'll bet Cherry cries himself to sleep on his pillow tonight. Great job Pav - well deserved.

You will need to dress another forward and defenseman (only 11 forwards and 7 defense on the roster). Edit* Son of a Wing beat me to my point

I think that you are right and it is something like that. I have seen Red Wing's players over other guys plenty of times.

Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
:caution: Wow, seriously wow. You didn't change my mind. Look at the time and date stamp of that post of mine I just quoted. It was from 6:13 PM Yesterday - You didn't even post in this thread until 7:10 PM Yesterday. That was and always has been my opinion, you didn't change my mind one bit you just got your panties in a bunch and didn't know what you were talking about when you wrote your response to my post. -
Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Seriously do you comprehend anything that you read. I have repeatedly stated that nothing at all should happen to the guys and one of the reasons was because it was part of the game and was accident. For the truly slow here is what I said again (I'll put it in bold and underline it so maybe you won't miss it): If you could have paused and read for just a moment you would notice I stated exactly what you said but you would rather just pop off and accuse others of never playing hockey than understand what someone said. -
Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Pathetic retort. Like I said what you do and say is your business, but there is nothing wrong with me disapproving of speech that is demeaning to women. I think that what a person says matters and shows character (which I also think is important) and like Teddy Roosevelt said “Rhetoric is a poor substitute for action.†I have repeatedly stated, I don't want the guys suspended, fined, censured, or punished in any way. I'm not asking the league to take any action against the guys and would deeply disapprove if the did. I brought up the rationale for my opinion (i.e. my "life story") because you made the stupid and untrue comment that I had never played hockey. Funny how rather than make a real argument in favor of your position you just rely on 3rd grade insults. But again, pathetic retort. -

Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Again another pathetic response from someone who is too big of a pansy to allow anyone to have a differing opinion. If you had the slightest ability to actually comprehend statements you wouldn't type dumb ones like you just did. Since you obviously didn't comprehend my original post (the one that got your panties in a bunch originally) here it is again (with the picture removed): I said in my original post that they were in a game where trash talking occurs all the time and is expected. I guess now I can have stepped onto the ice now. (Although that was a really good come back - here is mine and it is just as mature - I'm rubber you're glue). I acknowledged that it occurs all the time, that it is part of the game, the guys shouldn't be in trouble at all, and that ultimately it is not that big a deal. However, there was a time when men in general showed more respect to women (as an entire gender) then they do now. I find it sad that we as society allow as acceptable behavior for grown men to speak derogatory towards women. I was raised to always say yes ma'am to a woman, to get her chair when she sat down and help her into and out of her jacket, to stand when she leaves the table, always open the door for her, to walk closest to the street when walking down the sidewalk, and to never speak derogatorily about another man's wife. I don't care if you agree with me or not regarding whether women as a whole deserve more respect but again it is pathetic that you think since I disapprove of disparaging remarks being said about someone's wife I have never played hockey. -
Epic fail E.S.A.D The attendance for the Wings games has been great and so have the TV ratings. Game 3 averaged a 12.0 household rating in metro Detroit (approximately 231,240 households), on Fox Sports Detroit. That's the highest rated Red Wings telecast on FSD since the 2004 playoffs. The first three games of the series are averaging a 10.4 rating. Last year's playoff coverage on FSD (five games in the first two rounds) averaged a 9.1 rating. Oh yeah and the Blue Jackets aren't going to win in 6.

Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Don't be so pathetic. How come anyone who happens to disagree with you must have "never touched the ice?" I made a legitimate point regarding that I think trash talking is fine but I don't like when players are vulgar towards another person's wife. It is stupid and very narrow minded of you to think that "no one who has ever played hockey could possibly have a problem with vulgar things said about a person's wife." I have a hard time seeing Yzerman or Lids saying such things and think that they probably disapprove of such behavior as well (just my opinion on what they think). It is silly beyond belief for you to think that just because a person believes that certain things are unbecoming that they have never played hockey. Is there much that is a sign of a weak intellectual mind, with no ability to articulate and defend a position than to say "I don't agree with you so rather than defend my point of view I'm going to claim that you have never played hockey." I have a couple of very specific questions for you to answer. Do you have a problem with them trash talking and bringing race into the thrash talk? Do you think that it is OK to rip on another player about having cancer (a la Blake)? I'd like an answer to those questions, if you think that they are both ok then wow, if however you think that they are inappropriate then "obviously you have never touched the ice in your life." I've got an idea how about you actually defend you position instead of throwing out that pansy answer. -
Kesler and Burrows talking trash about Backes' wife
Frozen-Man replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
I don't in any way condone what Kesler or Burrows said - I think it is silly and sad that grown men have to result to such pathetic, juvenile and crass statements especially about another player's wife. Kelly Backes looks like a nice lady and for those guys to have to resort to what they did is pathetic. It is sad that they are so uncouth about her: She looks like a nice lady and deserves more respect than they showed her. However, there is a vast difference between what Kesler/Burrows did and what Avery did. Kesler/Burrows were in the game where trash talking occurs all the time and is expected. They were not miked up and their statements were not intended for the media to pick up and run with but rather were inadvertently picked up by the audio equipment. Avery on the other hand went up to the cameras, away from the game, and gave the media (not the other player) a statement intended to incite a media storm (as opposed to privately getting under his skin during the game). It did not happen in the context of the game, was not in game trash talking, and was said specifically (probably - you can never know the true intent) to cause controversy, shock value, and to make himself the center of attention. To equate the setting of the two incidents as similar is the only way to arrive at that very incorrect comparison. Edit* You beat me to the point Shoreline - but you made the point in a much more succinct and less convoluted statement. -
That was a great hit by Stewie and then excellent composure by the Wings on Z's goal showing what happens when you goon up on our players instead of sticking with the play. It's strange to me, guys like Micah and E.S.A.D post non-stop about how the Wings players are soft, boring, can't stand up for themselves, have no grit, and many other much more vulgar comments; yet when Stewart lays out a hit like this one they are never their to brag on the Wing's players. I have been impressed (as I usually am by the Wings) at how much they step it up when it matters. Great hit Stewie, great job fellas, and GO WINGS.

I would add Montreal fans to that list: All ears will be tuned in to hear if the Bell Centre crowd will embarrass itself again by booing the American national anthem, a disrespectful act that has occurred far too often during recent playoff years in the cavernous home of the Montreal Canadiens. There is not much that shows less class in my opinion.

I agree plus the more marketed and nationally exposed a player is the more overpriced his contract is likely to be (or the less of a home discount that might be had).

Yeah! I guess maybe every once in a while some moron buys them but I can't imagine it happening that often.
