I don't know I think that they have a good chance, if we play only Sammy and Lils *(I don't really dislike either of these guys as much as most. I think for their salaries they are pretty good for the team.) Edit: Grammer

Just curious what are Detroit's "bag of tricks"?
-
They just announced that Forsberg will be scratched because of a sore groin. So much of the analysis of top lines and top two lines get thrown out and changed by circumstances from game to game.
-
Excellent point! It is always so hard to consider all of the contingecies that affect the games but I think most of those swing in our favor (although I may be a little biased ) including home ice.

HaHaHaHaHaHaHa - I know I keep looking and the clock. It reminds me of that movie What About Bob where he keeps staring at the clock saying "Baby steps to 4 o' clock." I can't hardly wait for the puck to drop.
-
No doubt, but they went to overtime 3 out of the six games and I think that the Preds played way above their 8th seed and had to just to get into the play offs. They were on fire the last 15-20 games of the season and I think it played out in the playoffs and Ellis was great in the series. Finally, I think all the fast back to back goals by Hasek made the situation seem worse (not all was Hasek's fault but it made it bad for the Wings). Edit - Clarify

I think that they scored 6 pp goals.
-
I agree they are playing the pp well and will have to keep it up to have a good chance. Amazingly, in the first round the Wings and the Avs both averaged 2.83 goals per game and both teams allowed 2.00 goals against per game. Everyone is talking about how great the Avs were last round and how much better they are playing - while it has been repeatedly stated how the Wings did not play up to their potential (especially games 3 and 4). I do think there is something to the fact that the Wings could play much better (don't know if they will ) but I'm not sure that the Avs can play much better than last round.
-
Thats what I was thinking, this is an entire team that is well above average at almost every aspect of the game. I think the Wings have some amazing players but also that the whole of our team is much more than the sum of its parts. I don't think (especially looking at the last round) we have a team that allows the Avs to take a shift off, they never get a break offensively or defensively, first through fourth line, any special team setting, or even if we have to replace our goalie - an over the course of 7 games I think that really matters. The fact that they may have a better set or line doesn't mean as much to me as the overall of our team.

Good for Pav. Good luck to him.

Welcome aboard. Congrats on making it to the Second Round. Sorry you can't make it to the Third Round.
-
Congrats to the Stewart family!
-
Melrose only got half of his first round picks right so I wouldn't worry too much about his picks this round. Which was the worst of any of the ESPN "experts" (one other got five and the rest got at least six right).

I can't imagine that he left to go back to California until a few days before she is due. I don't know that for a fact, but if that is the case they will probably not let her go anywhere near that long without inducing labor. Again, I don't know any of that for a fact but this is generally the case.

He never seems to give credit to the Wings no big loss.

Congrats to you Duck Guy - I'm glad for your team.

But also remeber that unlike most people he is and has been almost 2500 miles away from his wife while she is about to have their first child and will be involved in this series for more than a week before he can be there for her. Just something else to think about.

I'm not an expert in how it works, I just know that it is required for all employers who employer a certain number of workers (I think 50) for more than 20 weeks per year. It allows up to 12 weeks unpaid leave for the birth and care of a child and husbands can make use of it. It's covered under the U.S. Department of Labor and here is one of the links to some info about it. http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/ and some more basic user friendly info can be found at http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/whd/whdfs28.htm I don't really know much else about it, I just remember getting a quick overview in law school.

[/quo I don't think he is a cold person for what he said. He is just saying that if this is going to last like two weeks, that is a little bit ridiculous. I took it to mean she is due any day, and this baby is coming within the next few days. If it is going to be more than a week, however, I agree with him: there is no need to leave your team for that long to wait for your wife to have the baby. Like I said in an earlier post in this thread, how many "regular people" jobs would let you do that? None that I can think of, unless you have a ton of vacation time or something. He was just saying that if this is going to last like two weeks, that is a little ridiculous, which I agree with. I guess if that makes me cold too, then so be it. I'm not sure whether you are in U.S. or not but in America not only will most employers let you take some time off but they are required to let you take off time for the birth of a child (up to 12 weeks actually). It's call the Family and Medical Leaves Act and applies to most employers and employees. While it is unpaid leave most employees has that right under Federal law.

HaHaHa. Nah, I was just reading the Denver posts and it made me chuckle when I read your post because of this discussion yesterday. I how ever want you to know that I would never be so rude as to call you liberal (well without really good proof). Finally, I can't stand Cherry and change the channel or mute the TV when he is on. :noevil:
