Trust me I am in no way advocating that parents are not responsible for the upbringing of their children (or that we vote for Hillary for president) if you read all of my posts the point of my posts is that people used to have some sense of respect for others and that things or actions might not be appropriate in all circumstances. There is no way that it is ANYONE but the parent's responsibility to raise their children and they should be the ones that teach them values and proper behavior. It is just a matter of people having some sense of propriety based upon who is around them.

You are correct that kids will hear this type of thing. But we as a society used to have some sense of propriety. We realized that there are times and places where things may not be appropriate. It used to be that society realized and respected the people around them. The debate (at least in my opinion) is not so much about when the kids hear it but rather whether the fans are classless when they engage in such behavior when: (1) children may be exposed to language, attitudes, and behaviour that are are far less than model, and (2) they are cursing a player on another team who is not dirty or cheap and plays with his heart and soul every shift. It is just a question of whether people should take into account thier surroundings when they engage in certain behavior. Most parents would be furious with their kids for the exact same condut if the kids did it at a junior high or high school sporting event and perhaps we should try to hold ourselves to the level that we hold our kids.

The main question raised by this thread though is whether or not it is classless and should it happen not whether parents know it will happen. I know that lots of things either will or are likely to happen but that doesn't mean that it should happen or that people shouldn't try to be considerate of others who want to take their children to the game and teach them to love hockey.

Very true! I don't know why people have to do things like this at games. It makes it hard for it to be a family atmosphere which makes it harder to get younger kids excited and interested in sports and teaches them at a young age an classless way to act that sadly seems to denegrate further as they grow up. There are much better ways to show excitement at a game and support for your team than hurling explatives at a player who works as as hard as anyone in the league and enjoys playing the game more than most.

I think that there is a big difference between chanting explatives against a player on the other team and supporting one of your teams own players. Don't get me wrong I don't like Tootoo but there is a HUGE difference.

I fully agree. Chelios and Draper don't need the C to be vocal. Lids has played without being vocally loud but with blaring passion and heart like he always does (and like Yzerman did before him) and that does more than anything to create the atmosphere that the Wings need. (By the way that is also the best thing that Chells and Draps do to show their leadership not their vocals).

Yeah I was really disappointed that they lost last night even though I knew there was a great chance of it. That was pretty much a must win for Anaheim but Dallas really outplayed them overall. It was just one of those nights where everything went better for Anaheim.

I was actuallly at the game last night and the score is not really indicitive of the game as a whole. Dallas was seriously outplaying them (several posts, 2 on 1s, 3 on 2s, etc.) and then Anahiem scored a goal and then a stupid turnover on Dallas' part. That unnerved them a bit and then Turco let in two power play goals. BUT then Anahiem started to play like Anahiem and taking bad penalties. Dallas got two on power plays that were beautiful and were very bad short handed defense. Schneider then took a double minor for high sticking and it really seemed (remember they had just gotten two pp goals) that they would bring it within 1 or possibly tie the game. They did not but Anaheim had a really hard time holding them down and in the end the momentum seemed to be back with Dallas. I think that they have a great shot of winning again Thursday.

Excellent post! I have already gotten tired of everyone calling all of Nashville white trash, trailer trash, etc. Everytime that I have been to Nashville the people are really nice and much more personable than most places. It seems silly to just dump all over them rather than talk about our team or something that is in some way hockey related.

Oh, if that is the case then I understand and actually agree. I thought it was a good no call but you can't really tell from the video. Also I never thought that Trotz was whinning about the call but at the time it was scored didn't even realize there was a real controversy till later and I just like all of the drama that goes on with the playoffs.

Why shouldn't this thread have been started? The thread has been view 2300+ times because the teams are playing a best of seven series and people are interested in what the coaches say and what they think really happened. It was reported by the AP and was on all the sports websites but yeah no one cares about it and it should never be discussed. If you don't want to read it then don't - but if people want to read it and want to post about it why the crap do you care?

Since I don't live in the Detroit area and don't have the Center Ice package I was wondering what is the best way to watch the Wings begin their quest for the Cup online. I didn't know if there was some package to sign up for or website to subscribe to or what. This is the first year that I have not been able to get Center Ice and but I don't want to miss any part of the games. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can offer.

ESPN ranked all of the playoff goalies and in my opinion didn't do half bad (although I do think that they had Kipper and Turco too low - yes, even with Turco's shaky playoff stats, which were much better last year). They put the Hasek/Osgood combo as the third best! Here is the quote concerning them - "No team has a one-two punch in net like the Detroit Red Wings. I saw the show too and thought it would be great if we got him but seems very unlikely. I would imagine if he takes a discount it will be to stay with San Jose (nothing to really back that up but he is playing great there and really likes Thornton).
