Taken just as you put it yes but even as bad as I think the Ericsson signing is I would rather have it for 3 years than Wiz's $5.5M for 6 years. To me $5.5M Wisniewski for 6 years <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< $3.25M Ericsson for 3 years I wouldn't even mind paying Wiz that much for a one year (or at most 2 year) contract, just as a band-aid to stop gap our shortages in a bad FA pool year, but not for 6 years.

Good depth and I think Patty will keep getting better the longer his is with the team. :clap: I couldn't agree more and part of his value is that he is willing to play on the 4th line with no complaints or attidtude and just goes out and plays hard every shift no matter what line he is put on.

I've got to agree. As much as the Wings need D help I sure don't want them getting saddled with a bad contract (at least for more than 1 year) just because they need a good top 4 Dman. I doubt with Kenny that will be a problem but an overpaid/longish term panic signing sure could cause problems in the future.

My point was you were pissed because Kenny didn't get Burns and then tried to twist what Babcock said into somehow being in agreement with you opinion when nothing in his quote gives any indication that he is pissed with how Kenny acted regarding Burns. . . Not really, you took the quote but then attributed that quote to say things that were not said in that quote. Babs said "[t]hat's a gold medal pick[,]" also that San Jose "hit a home run" however, nowhere does Babcock say: Nor does anything that Babcock said mean: Nowhere does Babcock say or even indicate that he is upset with Kenny in any way, or that Kenny had a reasonable deal he could have made or even any deal at all that he could have made. Nor does he say that Kenny just didn't have the willingness to pull the trigger on such a deal. Additionally, nothing he said mean "No body [sic]wants Hudler and Flip is off limits.... no trades get done to better our selves we must rely on Free Agency..." You put those words into Babcock's mouth when he could easily have just been paying a complement to Burns or San Jose in saying that he is pissed that the team that knocked us out of the playoffs the last two years got Burns without the statement having anything to do with Kenny did or did not do; or should or should not have done; or could or could not have done.

I don't disagree with any of that, and I'm not saying Hudler will be a Leino. My point is the guy did have a 57 point year a couple years back so the talent is there and a Leino situation MIGHT happen. IF it does there will be hysterics by some posters here, I can practically guarantee it especially if he is traded now while his stock is so low. (Note: I'm not saying that he shouldn't be traded merely prognosticating about the short term memory of some people here if he turns it around for another team and they begin blaming Kenny and Co. for letting him go for next to nothing).

I have no problem if he is traded (although I don't know that for any return we get it would be worth it), however if he is traded and then pulls a Leino I bet there will be a lot of hysterical people here complaining about Holland.

I don't know that the west will steam roll whichever team comes out of the east solely because of the fact that the team out of the east should be much better rested and not near as banged up. I still thing the team from the west will likely win but the road to the SCF is much easier through the east.

I don't know he laid a pretty sweet hit on #11 yesterday, maybe he just needs to be played in more of an enforcer role.

I agree. I think Modano is hungry to prove he still has it and can contribute to the team and it might light a fire under whomever they sit when they come back.

It's just you. It's funny how you can change words to make things sound different. Saying Babcock "REFUSED" to change his lineup is very different than saying Babcock "didn't change his lineup." Perhaps he thinks he is fielding the best team and perhaps he is. Perhaps he didn't "REFUSE" to change his lineup but rather no one in the inner circle thought they should change the lineup and therefore no one asked and he never refused to do anything. Also, "on the brink of elimination"? Really, the Sharks are only half way there and have only won at home (like the are supposed to do). Sure the Sharks are in the better position by far but making up that Babs "REFUSED" to change lineups and griping because he was seen laughing at one point is a pretty weak argument for replacing one of the most successful currently active coaches.

I agree. Abby hasn't played great but the reason he is the scapegoat is because of the high sticking penalties primarily rather than his lack of offense. I know the high stick penalties were back but they accidentally happen to all players. Neither was as dumb a penalty as Raffy's delay of game. Sometimes it just happens.

Z took a high sticking penalty after Babs made that statement too. Sometimes it just happens. Abby hasn't looked great out there but the fact that he took another high sticking penalty last game doesn't mean much too me.

Yeah, they lost a couple of games to an excellent team; one in over time after killing off a double minor and the other by one goal. I believe that they will even the series at home and then the series really begins.

I couldn't disagree more with the OP. For a bottom pairing, still relatively young player, with a $900k cap hit he has been more than adequate. Has he been one of the teams best Dmen? No but he is not expected to be, hence the bottom pairing and low salary. Seriously, not every player is going to be a Lids or a Pasha. The rate of return on his investment has been very good so far in the playoffs.

Couldn't agree more. He was the reason for my love of hockey and the Wings initially and the reason for my disdain for most other sports and many other players - its not really fair I guess but I compare them to him and they all fall woefully short.

That is awesome for Detroit but I think that the poll is probably pretty skewed. How many hockey fans regularly check ESPN? They pretty much ignore the sport. There are about a dozen places I would check before I go to ESPN, sort of an unofficial boycott I guess as well as the fact that their NHL coverage is horrible and they charge you for any real information.

We should have a pool and bet on it with the proceeds to go to help pay fines.
