We could use a little 5 on 5 offensive support from the 3rd and 4th lines too...

That was funny - sort of an x-rated version of the video cam incident in Natl. Lampoons European Vacation. Let this be a lesson about phone cams and discretion...

Exactly.... Nice avatar by the way - M is one of my favorite foreign films...

There are usually feeds on the following web sites - just check in about a half hour prior to game time. You may need to download sopcast for the first link. http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?compet...pline=icehockey http://www.justin.tv/directory/sports/hock...e&order=hot

I know I'm in the minority but I'd still like to see the following line combos... Zetterburg - Datsyuk - Hossa SKILL Homer - Franzen - Cleary GRIT Sammy - Flip - Hudler SKILL Maltby - Draper - Kopecky GRIT

The Wings played like s***....

TSN is reporting that the story was "completely false" according to Sundin's Rep... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=243880&...os=topStory_nhl

Unbelievable.....

From the looks of it and the half assed babelfish interpretation of his interview the deal was signed before the nhl and khl came to an agreement. My guess is that his signing prompted immediate action by the nhl to come to terms with them. Whether or not the deal voids out his new contract is yet to be seen... He signed a 1 year deal with Columbus...

Paybacks are a *****.... :rotflmao:

Patrick Kane's total annual compensation on a 3 year entry level deal was 3.725M per year with bonus money. I would expect Stamkos to get the same type of deal...
-
Yeah, that is why I think they will sign a few "value" type defensemen this year - they would have to get real creative in order to afford Kubina after signing Stamkos.
-
They still have 8M in cap space. I wouldn't be surprised to see them add a couple of veterans like Jason Smith, Matvichuk or Aaron Miller.
-
My mistake.... They'll still have more trouble signing him next year!
-
If it goes to arbitration Filppula will most likely get a low-end one year deal and become a UFA after next season when the Wings are going to be stretched financially. He would then get to pick his future team rather than getting bogged down in a lengthy contract with some crappy team via a contract sheet. Filing for arbitration puts the Wings on the spot because they know they could possibly lose him and get absolutely nothing for him next year if he is awarded a one year deal...

I read that Vancouver had two third rounders in 09 - they traded the one they received from L.A. for Bernier so they still have their own pick... I just looked it up and the pick from L.A. was part of the Cloutier deal.

It sounds like a bit more than just rumor to me... Here is the audio link from that broadcast - I lifted it off of RWC - courtesy of a poster named rightwinger. Fast forward to minute mark 20:45 to hear the pertinent info... http://cknwam.corusradionetwork.com/dynami...?dt=20080704_12

No - that was Anton Hedman... Here's Victor:

Where Vancouver might finish is relevant but how Detroit might use that pick is what really counts. If they had one mid range first round pick and a late first rounder they could use them to try and move up to near the top of the draft order and get a blue chip replacement for Lidstrom. I'd take the draft picks if some team makes a ridiculous offer.
-
Four Million for Filpulla? Plus all those draft picks (1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks)?? I can't see an offer sheet on him for that much - maybe one for around 2.75M and a 1st and 3rd but hes not in the 4M compensation range...

I thought Shero did a pretty good job this offseason - he locked up Malkin and Orpik to long term deals. He also brought in a few veteran forwards on one year deals to help replace Hossa. In doing so he avoids any long term deals that would limit his ability to offer Staal a significant raise next year. The only moves I didn't like was the re-signing of the frequently injured Eaton and the failure to buy Sydor out. They could have picked up a top notch defenseman with some of the money they are spending on those two...
-
I didn't say that I WANTED the picks but if some team offered a sheet on him I'd rather see Detroit take the picks than overpaying him given the limited amount of cap space they now have. Did your crystal ball tell you so? Lets hope he re-signs quickly and avoids any chance of an offer sheet....

Supply and demand is primarily what is driving these high contracts. Contract sheets drive up prices too but they have been held to a few isolated cases to this point.
