Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Glubki replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Wow - one day on the forum and the sarcastic confrontational comments are already coming out. Can't wait to see what you have to contribute in the future... -
they gave up a third rounder and the negotiation rights for Leopold - A third rounder or a decent prospect is about what I'd expect for Hossa's rights.
-
I found this article on him by Chris Baylee of Calirubber.com...
-
Sure - so could Nashville or New Jersey or all the teams listed in previos posts. If he hits the open market he is going to have no shortage of suitors. It all depends on where he wants to go and only he knows that.
-
Possible but I don't think Chicago is capable of adding a long term big money contract with the Campbell albatross and both Kane and Toews needing to be re-signed after next year. There are about 7-8 teams or so who can afford him without making major moves and probably another 5 that would dump salary to get him. Phoenix, L.A., Minnesota, Montreal, Dallas, Florida and Buffalo all have room but the question was best chance of winning...

If they want both of the twins and Sedin decides to return. I don't think Vancouver is going to offer Sedin nearly as much money this time around and the Sedin twins at 6M apiece is a steep price as well.
-
Washington could make him a nice offer if they can find a trade for Theodore. Vancouver could easily afford him as well...
-
I like the pick - it was just a late 6th rounder. Even if he never wears a Wings jersey you need guys like this - especially in the minors. If he adds 20-25 pounds over the next four years and plays some tenacious 4th line grinding minutes than what is the problem? If Downey leaves G.R. and Mac retires in a year or two you have to have someone fill the void - he doesn't look timid of anyone bigger than him to me and apparently he has an offensive upside.
-
Who said anything about Bouwmeester? They could have made offers/picked up a combination of Beuchamin, Komisarek, Scuderi, Mara, or Warrener or any other UFA's for 6M or less after dumping Lupul and kept all their picks and gained a draft pick. Lupul is 25 years old and a fifty point man - so he has no or little value? The same team that signed Lupul to that extension is now the one dumping draft picks for a middle aged D-man - that is a bit of a contradiction in the "good sense" department.

Sound's a bit like Kocur to me... Probably not as powerful but similar.
-
I question the author's overall draft and talent analysis but it is something on him...
-
Jensen is a late bloomer - not much info on him out there.
-
They overpaid in my opinion. They could have traded Lupul for a first round pick and picked up a couple solid D-men off the UFA list for the same price without losing Sbisa or two first rounders - even if they were late first rounders. Pronger is going to be 35 in October I believe and he has lost a step. He will help them out initially but 2 years from now they may be looking back at this trade and saying what were we thinking...

Well - I''m pleased so far. They got a solid right wing prospect which they desperately needed and who is right handed. A center that was projected to go a bit higher by some, a sizeable left winger and a defenseman I never heard of. Typical Wings draft...

Jay Bouwmeester's Rights traded to Calgary
Glubki replied to Heroes of Hockeytown's topic in General
He'll be a nice addition for Calgary if they can sign him. -
You can pay $4 and watch it on hockeystreams.com - I'm actually surprised no one is streaming it on JustinTV but it just doesn't make for exciting TV. I almost fell asleep last night after the tenth pick. Edit - I checked hockeystreams - it doesn't look like they are streaming it either...
-
Crap - I stayed up to watch and they trade down...
-
They must have really wanted him - he probably would have been there at #16.
-
Lupol, Sbisa and 2 first rounders - the Flyers got screwed lol...
-
Bettman - boooooo....
-
Anything is possible - a team like the Rangers starving for offense and power play help could make him an offer over 2.615M but my gut tells me any offer sheet he sees will be just below that threshold. I don't see the Wings matching anything over 2 - 2.25M. He may be worth more but given the situation I just can't see it.

That won't go over too well on the Island if it happens...
