That is a strange hire... Sacco has two years of experience as a head coach in the minors. They must have really like how the Monsters progressed.

It may be the other way around... Perhaps Ilitch and Holland asked them (Maltby & Homer) to up their dedication to the Wings and retire following this season in order to do what is best for the future of the team. In exchange they both get cushy executive jobs next year earning the same salary they would have made as players - Ilitch has enough money to make them an offer they can't refuse.

In the first period he skated from down low and brought the puck to the half-boards before being heemed in by two Penguins. Instead of dropping the puck back down low he pushed it towards the center of the ice which almost led to an odd man rush. Other than that he has been pretty good.

I just looked up the box score and according to yahoo - Walker did get an instigator penalty in the game - with no suspension. It's funny because I watched that game on hockeystreams.com and I could have swore they didn't call the instigator penalty on him that night.

I said this two series ago but Helm reminds me a lot of a young Michael Peca in Buffalo. He has a lot more speed and maybe not as much potential as a scorer but their style of play is very similar.
