It's America's pastime, that's why. Also, you can go to a Major League Baseball game for a fraction of the price of a hockey game. It goes down to youth involvement. Youth hockey in America (in non-hockey areas) is impossible to play either because there are no facilities for it OR the price is astronomical. In Canada, there are youth rec leagues for kids that are about $40 per season. I live in West Michigan and the cheapest is at least $750 for a season. Equipment is expensive and you need ice. For baseball, rec leagues are incredibly cheap and you can play it almost anywhere in America. Equipment is relatively cheap. That is why baseball is and will continue to be more popular.

My parents have had it for about 8 years now and every time we had a decent sized storm come through the feed would go out until the storm passed. It didn't happen every storm, but when I moved out I switched to Cable because I didn't ever want to lose my feed.

I much prefer Cable. Cable doesn't have near as many HD feeds, but when there's a rainstorm or a snowstorm (which is common in West Michigan) the DirecTV drops out whereas the Cable feed is nice and steady.

Same thing happened at the Joe for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals when Datsyuk rang one off the crossbar. The first few rows jumped to cheer and everyone else followed suit. Big let down when they showed the replay...
