My first game, and i thought it was a red wings home game... Are all away playoff games packed with that many red wing fans? Or was tonight above average? Best time of my life, if you minus all the drunk duck fans.

No, for the sole reason because hes a center. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Filpulla... even if you were to trade flip... theres no room for another starcenter. Would much rather pay that kinda money for a right handed winger like kovalchuk. On a team full of left handers, that right handed shot could be $$$ on powerplays.

Haha, made me laugh, but sadly its true about most of the people here. I have no intention to argue with any of you "red wing" experts, but any of you saying filpulla is under acheiving this season pretty much is just a one demensional hockey expert, or to make it simple, a "berry melrose".. Theres a reason why babcock gives val the ice time he gets, and theres a reason why holland gives him the kind of money he gets. If you look into it, stats are misleading when it comes to this guy, and anyone who watches red wing games knows what im talking about. Its about the little plays that make him one of the most skilled guys on this team, chipping the puck back to defensmen... back checking, postioning, poise, patience, small plays that go unnoticed that makes players like val so under-rated. The list goes on.. those of you who know real hockey know what im talking about. Only datsyuk makes these little plays better that filppula And i predict valterri filppula will be in the 2010-2011 all star game wearing a wings jersey. If not sooner then in later years, but this guy is the future franchise datsyuk or zetterberg of this team, along with hudler. Its to bad some of you don't see val's potential, but holland, babcock, and the rest of the organization do see it, and thats all that matters.. sorry hes not going anywhere kids..

With holmstrom out, and zetterberg back, whats could babcock see wrong with putting zetterberg with dats and hossa on that first line and keeping the second line intact? The second line of mule/filppula, samuelsson has been doing fine. Couldn't be that big of a risk. ... Anyone see a chance at this happening?

Exactely. Iv'e heard commentators of other teams mention this numerous times. Give valtterri some consistent top 6 time, some cosistent power play time,. not just every couple games, but real consistent time .... add a touch of confidence some better linemates and he will be scoring 45-50 points in an 82 game season, i have no doubt in my mind. Combined the scoring ability with his solid two way hockey ability and 3 mil is well worth it.. Both babcock and holland sees his skill and potential. In no way is he a disappointment to the team.

Last year didnt rafalski make it in the top 4 defencemen but they didnt let him go because the wings already had too many players attending the all-star game?

The quote was how filp is good enough to be a second line center on just about any other team in the game. And how hes not getting the ice time to be putting up the points other stars are. And i agree, not only is flip not getting enough ice time/pp time, hes also not playing with the skilled players that samuleson and hudler have on their lines. Why do you think at the end of games, with like 5 minutes left when detroit is losing/tied babcock always bumps filpula up to play on the top 6 with zetterberg and franzen?

I think its to much of a waste of datsyuks set-up ability to not put him with a hossa or a zetterberg. Datysuk with Hossa Zetterberg with franzen. As others have said the third guy to be added to those lines can be changed up with many different players.

I'm not sure what to expect, but i do completely agree that datsyuk and zetterberg will center different lines. As holland said he expects hossa to play with one of them. I dont understand why they would sign him for just one year just to send him to GR for the whole season then lose him in 09 when holland has to re-sign zetterberg, franzen, hudler and or hossa. I guess we'll see.

Only part i hate about this is detroit is going to get the kind of attention that penguins got last year. As if it wasnt enough for them to win the cup, the thought of next seasons starting the roster is unreal. Better goalies, better defence, (having a solid top 4 the whole year) and ALOT better offense with franzen coming out, and of course having hossa.

Really? I know alot of players who have scored 2 goals in one game.. reguardless.. you missed the point. Anyways samuleson has the same amount of goals as the entire penguins team this series, yet we don't get a close up on his face after every commerical break.
