Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry
Hack & Whack Rule! replied to edicius's topic in General
It's also the reason you hear about every one of them that contracts the virus, or has flu symptoms of any kind. Each and every man is responsible to answer to his own conscience. If your conscience and personal code of ethics will allow you to do this, then you are the smallest person I've ever seen. To jump lines filled with women and children is just plain disgusting. -
Well, believe it or not, you are wrong. Even though my daughter has severe asthma, I can see the results of my actions. It would be a difficult choice, I'll grant you that, but with the shortage of the vaccine, kids not being able to get it, pregnant women going without it, and lineups that are way too long, my conscience would not let me do it. The rest of my company is mostly full of s*** weasels, so you are probably right about that one.
-
I do realize this. I also realize that not getting shot has a lower success rate than getting one. I also realize that it's my choice to decide whether I get it for me and my family or not. There are a lot of things that may be related to a lot of other things. The word "may" just throws so much s*** out there, it's unreal. I may win 50 million bucks tonight in the lottery. Big fat hairy ******* deal. My point, although I digressed there, is that this is not about the effectiveness of the H1N1 vaccine, but about the Flames getting special treatment by the government.

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

That's the problem with two-tier health care. Those with money will get whatever treatment they want, when they want it. The government should have refused to hand this vaccine out to private clinics until after the shortage was over and lines weren't 4-5 hours long. I don't know if that's the case with the Leafs, but I know the Flames had one set up for them just for this vaccine. They are all a bunch of ass hounds. -
It was a Flames rep who approached somebody from Alberta Health Services and asked for a private clinic to be set up. Strike one. The clinic was set up, with no paper trail, while others waited in 4-5 hour lines, with restrictions on who would get the vaccine. Strike two. The players had to know that they were taking vaccines for themselves and their families while "regular people" had to wait, and possible die from this flu because they can't get shots. Strike three, they're out. As I said in the Maple Leafs thread on this whole thing: I have a daughter with severe asthma. I'm a service technician for the phone company, and I go into 8-10 homes and businesses every day. Personally, I think my daughter is more high risk than f***-knuckles like Iginla and Phaneuf. The Flames and Maple Leafs all suck donkey ass for this pathetic display. I have absolutely zero respect for any of the ass-munches that greedily bypassed a system just because they can.

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

My Member of Parliament has come out and said that he will not get the vaccine until it is his turn. He won't line jump, just because the opportunity is there (or something to that effect). I've met the guy, and I like him, and I believe him. But his statement leads me to believe that you are right. Some government officials have likely received the vaccine, and it was likely offered to him. -
I agree completely about Bert being hungry. You can see it in his play. I think it's great that he's trying to produce but shooting right at a goalie's chest doesn't help a whole lot. Pass it once in a while or the defender's aren't going to expect him to pass and will wait for the shot to come. I also like the way Eaves is playing. But Helm! Holy s***! I'm calling for Helm to be elected, nay, appointed, Ruler Of The Universe. His play tonight was unbelievable.

I have a daughter with severe asthma, and I'm a service tech for the phone company, going to 8-10 houses a day. I think my daughter needs it before that turd-burglar Iginla. Maybe I'm biassed, maybe not. It just doesn't seem right. -
The kid put himself in the position of getting running over by a freight train. If you ask me, if the kid hadn't been injured, he should be getting a penalty for some stupid s***. Because that's what it was...stupid s***. If he wouldn't have turned his back trying to reverse the play, it would not have been so bad....probably...maybe. He saw Liambas coming twice. See that? He looked up twice and saw the hurt coming. This kind of crap can't be called on the hitter, or this is the bulls*** we are going to start seeing all the time. Dude wants to draw a penalty, so he turns his back on a hit that's coming. I know, it's a bit of a stretch, since most don't want to take themselves out of a play (or get hurt) in the hopes of drawing a penalty. But it could happen. You still can't say he tried to hurt him. You have no proof, only opinion. Okay, I guess you can say, but that doesn't make you right. I see no intent or even a penalty in this hit. The only reason there's so much focus on it is because of the injury.

What can I say? I'm a serious guy. For some reason everybody laughs at me all the time, but when I tried a stint as a comedian, I couldn't buy a f***in' chuckle! Check the video again. His elbows are down. I may be wrong, but I think you are the only one who has said his elbows were up. The only people calling it dirty are saying it was boarding, charging, hitting from behind, not giving a reach-a-round, etc. I don't need to prove I am age, I just am.

Man I would love to have gone into the NHL, as I'm sure many on LGW would. The fact is that I was not good enough for it. If you think that's a sore spot for me, you are wrong. It would have been fun, but I would not have done many other things that I've done in my life. I went into the Army, where I met my wife then had two beautiful daughters. When I saw that I had no chance, it didn't change my life. It let me get on with the life I had started. I served my country and then built a family. So, when you do the tongue sticking out thing with the emoticon, you are just showing the maturity of a seventeen year old. Maybe a seventeen year old troll, maybe not. I couldn't care less about trolls on the forums. When you grow up, you will probably learn to be able to say that you were wrong. Throughout this whole thread, you posted opinions as fact coupled with inaccurate video stills. A man would have said "Hey, you are right, I see it now". A little boy stomps his feet and says "No, no, no! I'm right! You have to see it my way", even when the proof is staring him in the face. And nobody should be made an example of. Enforce the rules or don't.

Not even 18, and you call the rest of us "wannabe hockey players"? I've played hockey for more years than you've been alive! This is a bulls*** suspension. As someone posted earlier, it's the injury and the publicity. Without the injury the publicity would be enormous anyway. It would be focussing on a monster hit, and then showing kids why you don't turn your back on freight train coming at you. Especially when you saw the ******* thing twice. Still hoping for a recovery for the kid. I also hope this doesn't follow Liambas for years a la Bertuzzi.

I can't stand all the attention Crosby gets. Is it warranted? Probably not. The dude has skills and nobody can deny it. The fact remains that he is the poster boy for the new NHL. They are going to promote Crosby for a long time to come. It would be nice if they spread some of the spotlight around, but they aren't going to. Get over it if you want to, don't get over it if you don't want to. Personally, when I see Crosby getting shoved in my face, my face looks somewhere else.

Comedy gold...Avery style. I still say I'd love to see him back with the Wings.

UMMM.....GOOD CALL! I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO GO UP.
-
Good call! I knew this one was going to go up.

Wannabe hockey players? I'll bet you don't know jack s*** about anybody's hockey experience or lack thereof. You say there was clearly intention to hurt, but state that we claim we have proof there wasn't. You were the one who posted a frame from the video with Liambas in the convenient position of having his elbow on the glass. Also, I don't think every player has the opportunity to check all the stats and ages of the guys who are on the ice at any given time. In reference to the part of your post that I've bolded: that's pretty classless, and the ultimate in douchebaggery. I, on the other hand, hope nobody goes through something like this. Whether I know them or not.

Most have wished Fanelli a speedy recovery, most of those did it several times. It turned into a stupid argument when you chose not to see your error, and then whined about being "accused of being wrong", whatever the f*** that means. Are we disrespectful because we did not agree with you, or because we had the audacity to call you out on your glaring omission of, what most of us call "facts". This forum lacks decency when people state opinions as facts and then won't admit they made a mistake. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Fanelli. Or at least a recovery, speedy or not.

As I was listening football tonight I found out what hockey needs.
Hack & Whack Rule! replied to blankrap's topic in General
I thought you were going to say "Defense". But, seriously folks, I was telling my wife the same thing as last season was winding down. I was watching a lot of hockey and they all had their biased anouncers. Some were worse than others, for sure, but I can't remember for which teams. -
I think I asked this question of you in another thread. Without an answer, by the way. At what point in the season is it okay to start laying on the hits? Is there some date that most don't know about? How about early March when teams are making playoff runs? How about only in the playoffs? Leading up to the Olympics? One week before the All Star Break?
-
Did you do that on purpose?
-
If Fanelli ever plays again, and I pray for a full recovery for him, he has probably learned a lesson here. That probably sounds cold, but it isn't meant to. This is a tough sport we watch and play. The next time something like this goes down, I'll bet he doesn't turn his back. That's the best I can come up with. Nobody said that a good hit can't have terrible consequences, and that is just what happened here. Is it a s***ty deal for Fanelli? Yes, without a doubt. Was there anything wrong with the hit? Nope, other than the outcome, of course. Suspension worthy? Only if suspensions are given out for the result of "good hockey gone bad".

My first post in this thread: An excerpt from a subsequent post of mine: Slow down big fella! You are making guesses and assumptions, then stating them as fact. I refer to the intent to injure part. Fine, you showed the hit. You also posted this at the same time: When you state an opinion on LGW, some are going to agree with you and some won't. We know which group I stand in. Dissenting opinions is what keeps things like this going. I think I'm right, you think you are right. One of us is wrong. As I said...if you don't want to be called out on the playground, stay inside at recess. As for this guy's history, I'll be honest and tell you I don't know s*** about him, and I also don't care. I'm talking about this hit. And relax, I'm okay with you disagreeing with me. Good luck to the Fanelli family.
-
Looks like he went high and caught Doan on the chin. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I can get pretty lenient when it comes to laying the smackdown on someone. I'll say: nice clock cleaning, clean hit (clean enough for me), suspension is more proof of the pussification brought on by Bettman.
-
Yes, your eyes are dirty because you aren't seeing clearly. I the f*** am Hack and Whack Rule. ...bad position? Yes, you agree with me. ...charge? No, he stopped skating at the bottom of the circle. ...hit too high? Possibly, apparently size matters (my wife was wrong). But I'll give you that one up to the point that Liamba is smidge taller. ...slow down? It's called hockey. People get the smackdown in hockey. Why slow down? Refer to the bad position part of this post. ...remorse? The other guy was going to level him, so he prepared himself. Nothing wrong there, either. In fact, he then took a shot from the goalie. ...intention to hurt? You think so, or you know so? I apologize if I hurt your feelings. That sounds like attitude, but it is not meant to. The whole point of debate is to accuse the other of being wrong, and then show them why. You have done this yourself in this thread. If you don't want to be "accused" of being wrong (I call it "proven" wrong, but whatever) then you should be more selective in your posts. Especially if you are going to use a frame from a video showing an elbow up on a hit, when the hit is clearly complete in said frame. Again, I apologize for sounding rude.
